- そこで， わたしの 子よ． あなたは キリスト · イエス にある 惠みによって， 强くなりなさい．
- そして， あなたが 多くの 證人の 前でわたしから 聞いたことを， さらにほかの 者たちにも 敎えることのできるような 忠實な 人¿に， ゆだねなさい．
- キリスト · イエス の 良い 兵卒として， わたしと 苦しみを 共にしてほしい．
- 兵役に 服している 者は， 日常生活の 事に 煩わされてはいない． ただ， 兵を 募った 司令官を 喜ばせようと 努める．
- また， 競技をするにしても， 規定に 從って 競技をしなければ， 榮冠は 得られない．

- Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
- Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
- No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
- And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

- 勞苦をする 農夫が， だれよりも 先に， 生産物の 分配にあずかるべきである．
- わたしの 言うことを， よく 考えてみなさい． 主は， それを 十分に 理解する 力をあなたに 賜わるであろう．
- ダビデ の 子孫として 生れ， 死人のうちからよみがえった イエス · キリスト を， いつも 思っていなさい． これがわたしの 福音である．
- この 福音のために， わたしは 惡者のように 苦しめられ， ついに 鎖につながれるに 至った． しかし， 神の 言はつながれてはいない．
- それだから， わたしは 選ばれた 人たちのために， いっさいのことを 耐え 忍ぶのである． それは， 彼らも キリスト · イエス による 救を 受け， また， それと 共に 永遠の 榮光を 受けるためである．

- The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
- Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
- Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
- Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
- Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

- 次の 言葉は 確實である． 「もしわたしたちが， 彼と 共に 死んだなら， また 彼と 共に 生きるであろう．
- もし 耐え 忍ぶなら， 彼と 共に 支配者となるであろう． もし 彼を 否むなら， 彼もわたしたちを 否むであろう．
- たとい， わたしたちは 不眞實であっても， 彼は 常に 眞實である． 彼は 自分を 僞ることが， できないのである 」．
- あなたは， これらのことを 彼らに 思い 出させて， なんの 益もなく， 聞いている 人¿を 破滅におとしいれるだけである 言葉の 爭いをしないように， 神のみまえでおごそかに 命じなさい．
- あなたは 眞理の 言葉を 正しく 敎え， 恥じるところのない 鍊達した ¿き 人になって， 神に 自分をささげるように 努めはげみなさい．

- It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
- If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
- Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

- 俗惡なむだ 話を 避けなさい． それによって 人¿は， ますます 不信心に 落ちていき，

- 大きな 家には， 金や 銀の 器ばかりではなく， 木や 土の 器もあり， そして， あるものは 尊いことに 用いられ， あるものは 卑しいことに 用いられる．

- But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
- And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
- Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
- Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
- But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

- もし 人が 卑しいものを 取り 去って 自分をきよめるなら， 彼は 尊いきよめられた 器となって， 主人に 役立つものとなり， すべての 良いわざに 間に 合うようになる．

- If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
