- 信仰によって， アブラハム は， 試鍊を 受けたとき， イサク をささげた． すなわち， 約束を 受けていた 彼が， そのひとり 子をささげたのである．
- この 子については， 「イサク から 出る 者が， あなたの 子孫と 呼ばれるであろう 」と 言われていたのであった．
- 彼は， 神が 死人の 中から 人をよみがえらせる 力がある， と 信じていたのである． だから 彼は， いわば， イサク を 生きかえして 渡されたわけである．
- 信仰によって， イサク は， きたるべきことについて， ヤコブ と エサウ とを 祝福した．
- 信仰によって， ヤコブ は 死のまぎわに， ヨセフ の 子らをひとりびとり 祝福し， そしてそのつえのかしらによりかかって 禮拜した．

- By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
- Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
- Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
- By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
- By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

- 信仰によって， ヨセフ はその 臨終に， イスラエル の 子らの 出て 行くことを 思い， 自分の 骨のことについてさしずした．
- 信仰によって， モ ― セ の 生れたとき， 兩親は， 三か 月のあいだ 彼を 隱した． それは， 彼らが 子供のうるわしいのを 見たからである． 彼らはまた， 王の 命令をも 恐れなかった．
