- 神と 主 イエス · キリスト との 僕 ヤコブ から， 離散している 十二部族の 人¿へ， あいさつをおくる．
- わたしの 兄弟たちよ． あなたがたが， いろいろな 試鍊に 會った 場合， それをむしろ 非常に 喜ばしいことと 思いなさい．
- あなたがたの 知っているとおり， 信仰がためされることによって， 忍耐が 生み 出されるからである．
- だから， なんら 欠点のない， 完全な， でき 上がった 人となるように， その 忍耐力を 十分に ¿かせるがよい．
- あなたがたのうち， 知惠に 不足している 者があれば， その 人は， とがめもせずに 惜しみなくすべての 人に 與える 神に， 願い 求めるがよい． そうすれば， 與えられるであろう．

- James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
- My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
- Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
- But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
- If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

- ただ， 疑わないで， 信仰をもって 願い 求めなさい． 疑う 人は， 風の 吹くままに ¿れ 動く 海の 波に 似ている．
- そういう 人は， 主から 何かをいただけるもののように 思うべきではない．
- そんな 人間は， 二心の 者であって， そのすべての 行動に 安定がない．
- 低い 身分の 兄弟は， 自分が 高くされたことを 喜びなさい．
- また， 富んでいる 者は， 自分が 低くされたことを 喜ぶがよい． 富んでいる 者は， 草花のように 過ぎ 去るからである．

- But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
- For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
- A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
- Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
- But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

- たとえば， 太陽が 上って 熱風をおくると， 草を 枯らす． そしてその 花は 落ち， その 美しい 姿は 消えうせてしまう． それと 同じように， 富んでいる 者も， その 一生の 旅なかばで ¿落するであろう．
- 試鍊を 耐え 忍ぶ 人は， さいわいである． それを 忍びとおしたなら， 神を 愛する 者たちに 約束されたいのちの 冠を 受けるであろう．
- だれでも 誘惑に 會う 場合， 「この 誘惑は， 神からきたものだ 」と 言ってはならない． 神は 惡の 誘惑に 陷るようなかたではなく， また 自ら 進んで 人を 誘惑することもなさらない．
- 人が 誘惑に 陷るのは， それぞれ， 欲に 引かれ， さそわれるからである．
- 欲がはらんで 罪を 生み， 罪が 熟して 死を 生み 出す．

- For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
- Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
- Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
- But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
- Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

- 愛する 兄弟たちよ． 思い 違いをしてはいけない．
- あらゆる 良い 贈り 物， あらゆる 完全な 賜物は， 上から， 光の 父から 下って 來る． 父には， 變化とか 回轉の 影とかいうものはない．
- 父は， わたしたちを， いわば 被造物の 初穗とするために， 眞理の 言葉によって 御旨のままに， 生み 出して 下さったのである．

- Do not err, my beloved brethren.
- Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
- Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
