- あなたがたの 中の 戰いや 爭いは， いったい， どこから 起るのか． それはほかではない． あなたがたの 肢體の 中で 相戰う 欲情からではないか．
- あなたがたは， むさぼるが 得られない． そこで 人殺しをする． 熱望するが 手に 入れることができない． そこで 爭い 戰う． あなたがたは， 求めないから 得られないのだ．
- 求めても 與えられないのは， 快樂のために 使おうとして， 惡い 求め 方をするからだ．
- 不貞のやからよ． 世を 友とするのは， 神への 敵對であることを， 知らないか． おおよそ 世の 友となろうと 思う 者は， 自らを 神の 敵とするのである．
- それとも， 「神は， わたしたちの 內に 住まわせた 靈を， ねたむほどに 愛しておられる 」と 聖書に 書いてあるのは， むなしい 言葉だと 思うのか．

- From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
- Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
- Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
- Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
- Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

- しかし 神は， いや 增しに 惠みを 賜う． であるから， 「神は 高ぶる 者をしりぞけ， へりくだる 者に 惠みを 賜う 」とある．
- そういうわけだから， 神に 從いなさい． そして， 惡魔に 立ちむかいなさい． そうすれば， 彼はあなたがたから 逃げ 去るであろう．
- 神に 近づきなさい． そうすれば， 神はあなたがたに 近づいて 下さるであろう． 罪人どもよ， 手をきよめよ． 二心の 者どもよ， 心を 淸くせよ．
- 苦しめ， 悲しめ， 泣け． あなたがたの 笑いを 悲しみに， 喜びを 憂いに 變えよ．
- 主のみまえにへりくだれ． そうすれば， 主は， あなたがたを 高くして 下さるであろう．

- But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
- Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
- Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
- Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

- 兄弟たちよ． 互に 惡口を 言い 合ってはならない． 兄弟の 惡口を 言ったり， 自分の 兄弟をさばいたりする 者は， 律法をそしり， 律法をさばくやからである． もしあなたが 律法をさばくなら， 律法の 實行者ではなくて， その 審判者なのである．
- しかし， 立法者であり 審判者であるかたは， ただひとりであって， 救うことも 滅ぼすこともできるのである． しかるに， 隣り 人をさばくあなたは， いったい， 何者であるか．
- よく 聞きなさい． 「きょうか， あす， これこれの 町へ 行き， そこに 一か 年滯在し， 商賣をして 一もうけしよう 」と 言う 者たちよ．
- あなたがたは， あすのこともわからぬ 身なのだ． あなたがたのいのちは， どんなものであるか． あなたがたは， しばしの 間あらわれて， たちまち 消え 行く 霧にすぎない．
- むしろ， あなたがたは「主のみこころであれば， わたしは 生きながらえもし， あの 事この 事もしよう 」と 言うべきである．

- Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
- There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
- Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
- Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
- For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

- ところが， あなたがたは 誇り 高ぶっている． このような 高慢は， すべて 惡である．
- 人が， なすべき 善を 知りながら 行わなければ， それは 彼にとって 罪である．

- But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
- Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
