- わたしは， あなたのわざと 勞苦と 忍耐とを 知っている． また， あなたが， 惡い 者たちをゆるしておくことができず， 使徒と 自稱してはいるが， その 實， 使徒でない 者たちをためしてみて， にせ 者であると 見拔いたことも， 知っている．
- あなたは 忍耐をし 續け， わたしの 名のために 忍びとおして， 弱り 果てることがなかった．
- しかし， あなたに 對して 責むべきことがある． あなたは 初めの 愛から 離れてしまった．
- そこで， あなたはどこから 落ちたかを 思い 起し， 悔い 改めて 初めのわざを 行いなさい． もし， そうしないで 悔い 改めなければ， わたしはあなたのところにきて， あなたの 燭台をその 場所から 取りのけよう．

- スミルナ にある 敎會の 御使に， こう 書きおくりなさい． 『初めであり， 終りである 者， 死んだことはあるが 生き 返った 者が， 次のように 言われる．
- わたしは， あなたの 苦難や， 貧しさを 知っている（しかし 實際は， あなたは 富んでいるのだ ）． また， ユダヤ 人と 自稱してはいるが， その 實 ユダヤ 人でなくて サタン の 會堂に 屬する 者たちにそしられていることも， わたしは 知っている．
- あなたの 受けようとする 苦しみを 恐れてはならない． 見よ， 惡魔が， あなたがたのうちのある 者をためすために， 獄に 入れようとしている． あなたがたは 十日の 間， 苦難にあうであろう． 死に 至るまで 忠實であれ． そうすれば， いのちの 冠を 與えよう．

- わたしはあなたの 住んでいる 所を 知っている． そこには サタン の 座がある． あなたは， わたしの 名を 堅く 持ちつづけ， わたしの 忠實な 證人 アンテパス が サタン の 住んでいるあなたがたの 所で 殺された 時でさえ， わたしに 對する 信仰を 捨てなかった．
- しかし， あなたに 對して 責むべきことが， 少しばかりある． あなたがたの 中には， 現に バラム の 敎を 奉じている 者がある． バラム は， バラク に 敎え ¿み， イスラエル の 子らの 前に， つまずきになるものを 置かせて， 偶像にささげたものを 食べさせ， また 不品行をさせたのである．
