- イエス が ピリポ · カイザリヤ の 地方に 行かれたとき， 弟子たちに 尋ねて 言われた， 「人¿は 人の 子をだれと 言っているか 」．
- 彼らは 言った， 「ある 人¿は バプテスマ の ヨハネ だと 言っています． しかし， ほかの 人たちは， エリヤ だと 言い， また， エレミヤ あるいは 預言者のひとりだ， と 言っている 者もあります 」．
- そこで イエス は 彼らに 言われた， 「それでは， あなたがたはわたしをだれと 言うか 」．
- シモン · ペテロ が 答えて 言った， 「あなたこそ， 生ける 神の 子 キリスト です 」．
- すると， イエス は 彼にむかって 言われた， 「バルヨナ · シモン ， あなたはさいわいである． あなたにこの 事をあらわしたのは， 血肉ではなく， 天にいますわたしの 父である．

- Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
- And they said, "Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."
- He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
- Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
- And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
