- ピラト は， 祭司長たちと 役人たちと 民衆とを， 呼び 集めて 言った，
- 「おまえたちは， この 人を 民衆を 惑わすものとしてわたしのところに 連れてきたので， おまえたちの 面前でしらべたが， 訴え 出ているような 罪は， この 人に 少しもみとめられなかった．
- ヘロデ もまたみとめなかった． 現に 彼は イエス をわれわれに 送りかえしてきた． この 人はなんら 死に 當るようなことはしていないのである．
- だから， 彼をむち 打ってから， ゆるしてやることにしよう 」．
- 〔祭ごとに ピラト がひとりの 囚人をゆるしてやることになっていた． 〕

- Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
- and said to them, "You brought this man to me as one who incites the people to rebellion, and behold, having examined Him before you, I have found no guilt in this man regarding the charges which you make against Him.
- "No, nor has Herod, for he sent Him back to us; and behold, nothing deserving death has been done by Him.
- "Therefore I will punish Him and release Him."
- [Now he was obliged to release to them at the feast one prisoner.]

- ところが， 彼らはいっせいに 叫んで 言った， 「その 人を 殺せ． バラバ をゆるしてくれ 」．
- この バラバ は， 都で 起った 暴動と 殺人とのかどで， 獄に 投ぜられていた 者である．
- ピラト は イエス をゆるしてやりたいと 思って， もう 一度かれらに 呼びかけた．
- しかし 彼らは， わめきたてて「十字架につけよ， 彼を 十字架につけよ 」と 言いつづけた．
- ピラト は 三度目に 彼らにむかって 言った， 「では， この 人は， いったい， どんな 惡事をしたのか． 彼には 死に 當る 罪は 全くみとめられなかった． だから， むち 打ってから 彼をゆるしてやることにしよう 」．

- But they cried out all together, saying, "Away with this man, and release for us Barabbas!"
- (He was one who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection made in the city, and for murder.)
- Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
- but they kept on calling out, saying, "Crucify, crucify Him!"
- And he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has this man done? I have found in Him no guilt demanding death; therefore I will punish Him and release Him."

- ところが， 彼らは 大聲をあげて 詰め 寄り， イエス を 十字架につけるように 要求した． そして， その 聲が 勝った．
- ピラト はついに 彼らの 願いどおりにすることに 決定した．
- そして， 暴動と 殺人とのかどで 獄に 投ぜられた 者の 方を， 彼らの 要求に 應じてゆるしてやり， イエス の 方は 彼らに 引き 渡して， その 意のままにまかせた．
- 彼らが イエス をひいてゆく 途中， シモン という クレネ 人が 郊外から 出てきたのを 捕えて 十字架を 負わせ， それをになって イエス のあとから 行かせた．
- 大ぜいの 民衆と， 悲しみ 嘆いてやまない 女たちの 群れとが， イエス に 從って 行った．

- But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And their voices began to prevail.
- And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand be granted.
- And he released the man they were asking for who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, but he delivered Jesus to their will.
- When they led Him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the country, and placed on him the cross to carry behind Jesus.
- And following Him was a large crowd of the people, and of women who were mourning and lamenting Him.

- イエス は 女たちの 方に 振りむいて 言われた， 「エルサレム の 娘たちよ， わたしのために 泣くな． むしろ， あなたがた 自身のため， また 自分の 子供たちのために 泣くがよい．
- 『不妊の 女と 子を 産まなかった 胎と， ふくませなかった 乳房とは， さいわいだ 』と 言う 日が， いまに 來る．
- そのとき， 人¿は 山にむかって， われわれの 上に 倒れかかれと 言い， また 丘にむかって， われわれにおおいかぶされと 言い 出すであろう．
- もし， 生木でさえもそうされるなら， 枯木はどうされることであろう 」．
- さて， イエス と 共に 刑を 受けるために， ほかにふたりの 犯罪人も 引かれていった．

- But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
- "For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'
- "Then they will begin TO SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'
- "For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
- Two others also, who were criminals, were being led away to be put to death with Him.

- されこうべと 呼ばれている 所に 着くと， 人¿はそこで イエス を 十字架につけ， 犯罪人たちも， ひとりは 右に， ひとりは 左に， 十字架につけた．
- そのとき， イエス は 言われた， 「父よ， 彼らをおゆるしください． 彼らは 何をしているのか， わからずにいるのです 」． 人¿は イエス の 着物をくじ 引きで 分け 合った．
- 民衆は 立って 見ていた． 役人たちもあざ 笑って 言った， 「彼は 他人を 救った． もし 彼が 神の キリスト ， 選ばれた 者であるなら， 自分自身を 救うがよい 」．
- 兵卒どもも イエス をののしり， 近寄ってきて 酢いぶどう 酒をさし 出して 言った，
- 「あなたが ユダヤ 人の 王なら， 自分を 救いなさい 」．

- When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
- But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing " And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.
- And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One."
- The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,
- and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!"

- イエス の 上には， 「これは ユダヤ 人の 王 」と 書いた 札がかけてあった．
- 十字架にかけられた 犯罪人のひとりが， 「あなたは キリスト ではないか． それなら， 自分を 救い， またわれわれも 救ってみよ 」と， イエス に 惡口を 言いつづけた．
- もうひとりは， それをたしなめて 言った， 「おまえは 同じ 刑を 受けていながら， 神を 恐れないのか．
- お 互は 自分のやった 事のむくいを 受けているのだから， こうなったのは 當然だ． しかし， このかたは 何も 惡いことをしたのではない 」．
- そして 言った， 「イエス よ， あなたが 御國の 權威をもっておいでになる 時には， わたしを 思い 出してください 」．

- Now there was also an inscription above Him, "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
- One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!"
- But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
- "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong."
- And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"

- イエス は 言われた， 「よく 言っておくが， あなたはきょう， わたしと 一緖に パラダイス にいるであろう 」．

- And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."
