로마서 2:17-3:8

바울은 유대인들이 율법을 수여받았다는 특권 의식에 빠져서 율법의 근본 정신을 망각한 채 할례와 같은 형식적 의식만을 강조하고 있음을 질책하였다.
 
  유대인의 죄(2:17-3:8)    
 
  1. もしあなたが, 自ら ユダヤ 人と 稱し, 律法に 安んじ, 神を 誇とし,
  2. 御旨を 知り, 律法に 敎えられて, なすべきことをわきまえており,
  3. さらに, 知識と 眞理とが 律法の 中に 形をとっているとして, 自ら 盲人の 手引き, やみにおる 者の 光, 愚かな 者の 導き 手, 幼な 子の 敎師をもって 任じているのなら,
  4. (19 節に 合節 )
  5. なぜ, 人を 敎えて 自分を 敎えないのか. 盜むなと 人に 說いて, 自らは 盜むのか.
  1. But if you bear the name "Jew" and rely upon the Law and boast in God,
  2. and know His will and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the Law,
  3. and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
  4. a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth,
  5. you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal?
  1. 姦淫するなと 言って, 自らは 姦淫するのか. 偶像を 忌みきらいながら, 自らは 宮の 物をかすめるのか.
  2. 律法を 誇としながら, 自らは 律法に 違反して, 神を 侮っているのか.
  3. 聖書に 書いてあるとおり, 「神の 御名は, あなたがたのゆえに, 異邦人の 間で 汚されている 」.
  4. もし, あなたが 律法を 行うなら, なるほど, 割禮は 役に 立とう. しかし, もし 律法を 犯すなら, あなたの 割禮は 無割禮となってしまう.
  5. だから, もし 無割禮の 者が 律法の 規定を 守るなら, その 無割禮は 割禮と 見なされるではないか.
  1. You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
  2. You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God?
  3. For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," just as it is written.
  4. For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
  5. So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?
  1. かつ, 生れながら 無割禮の 者であって 律法を 全うする 者は, 律法の 文字と 割禮とを 持ちながら 律法を 犯しているあなたを, さばくのである.
  2. というのは, 外見上の ユダヤ 人が ユダヤ 人ではなく, また, 外見上の 肉における 割禮が 割禮でもない.
  3. かえって, 隱れた ユダヤ 人が ユダヤ 人であり, また, 文字によらず による 心の 割禮こそ 割禮であって, そのほまれは 人からではなく, 神から 來るのである.
  1. And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law?
  2. For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.
  3. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.
 
 
  1. では, ユダヤ 人のすぐれている 点は 何か. また 割禮の 益は 何か.
  2. それは, いろいろの 点で 數多くある. まず 第一に, 神の 言が 彼らにゆだねられたことである.
  3. すると, どうなるのか. もし, 彼らのうちに 不眞實の 者があったとしたら, その 不眞實によって, 神の 眞實は 無になるであろうか.
  4. 斷じてそうではない. あらゆる 人を 僞り 者としても, 神を 眞實なものとすべきである. それは, /「あなたが 言葉を 述べるときは, 義とせられ, /あなたがさばきを 受けるとき, 勝利を 得るため 」/と 書いてあるとおりである.
  5. しかし, もしわたしたちの 不義が, 神の 義を 明らかにするとしたら, なんと 言うべきか. 怒りを 下す 神は, 不義であると 言うのか(これは 人間的な 言い 方ではある ).
  1. Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?
  2. Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.
  3. What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?
  4. May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written, "THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS, AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE JUDGED."
  5. But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.)
  1. 斷じてそうではない. もしそうであったら, 神はこの 世を, どうさばかれるだろうか.
  2. しかし, もし 神の 眞實が, わたしの 僞りによりいっそう 明らかにされて, 神の 榮光となるなら, どうして, わたしはなおも 罪人としてさばかれるのだろうか.
  3. むしろ, 「善をきたらせるために, わたしたちは 惡をしようではないか 」(わたしたちがそう 言っていると, ある 人¿はそしっている ). 彼らが 罰せられるのは 當然である.
  1. May it never be! For otherwise, how will God judge the world?
  2. But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?
  3. And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), "Let us do evil that good may come"? Their condemnation is just.
