- エフライム が 物言えば， 人¿はおののいた． 彼は イスラエル の 中に 自分を 高くした． しかし 彼は バアル によって 罪を 犯して 死んだ．
- そして 彼らは 今もなおますます 罪を 犯し， その 銀をもって 自分のために 像を 鑄， 巧みに 偶像を 造る． これは 皆工人のわざである． 彼らは 言う， これに ¿牲をささげよ， 人¿は 子牛に 口づけせよと．
- それゆえ 彼らは 朝の 霧のように， すみやかに 消えうせる 露のように， 打ち 場から 風に 吹き 去られるもみがらのように， また 窓から 出て 行く 煙のようになる．
- わたしは エジプト の 國を 出てからこのかた， あなたの 神， 主である． あなたはわたしのほかに 神を 知らない． わたしのほかに 救う 者はない．
- わたしは 荒野で， またかわいた 地で， あなたを 知った．

- And now they sin more and more, And make for themselves molten images, Idols skillfully made from their silver, All of them the work of craftsmen They say of them, "Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves!"
- Therefore they will be like the morning cloud And like dew which soon disappears, Like chaff which is blown away from the threshing floor And like smoke from a chimney.
- Yet I have been the LORD your God Since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any god except Me, For there is no savior besides Me.
- I cared for you in the wilderness, In the land of drought.

- しかし 彼らは 食べて 飽き， 飽きて， その 心が 高ぶり， わたしを 忘れた．

- あなたを 助けるあなたの 王は 今， どこにいるのか． あなたがかつて「わたしに 王と 君たちとを 與えよ 」と ／言ったあなたを 保護すべき， すべてのつかさたちは ／今， どこにいるのか．

- As they had their pasture, they became satisfied, And being satisfied, their heart became proud; Therefore they forgot Me.
- So I will be like a lion to them; Like a leopard I will lie in wait by the wayside.
- I will encounter them like a bear robbed of her cubs, And I will tear open their chests; There I will also devour them like a lioness, As a wild beast would tear them.
- It is your destruction, O Israel, That you are against Me, against your help.
- Where now is your king That he may save you in all your cities, And your judges of whom you requested, "Give me a king and princes"?

- わたしは 怒りをもってあなたに 王を 與えた， また 憤りをもってこれを 奪い 取った．
- エフライム の 不義は 包みおかれ， その 罪は 積みたくわえられてある．
- 子を 産む 女の 苦しみが 彼に 臨む． 彼は 知惠のない 子である． 生れる 時が 來ても 彼は 産門にあらわれない．
- わたしは 彼らを 陰府の 力から， あがなうことがあろうか． 彼らを 死から， あがなうことがあろうか． 死よ， おまえの 災はどこにあるのか． 陰府よ， おまえの 滅びはどこにあるのか． あわれみは， わたしの 目から 隱されている．
- たとい 彼は 葦のように 榮えても， 東風が 吹いて 來る． 主の 風が 荒野から 吹き 起る． これがためにその 源はかれ， その 泉はかわく． それはすべての 尊い 物の 寶庫をかすめ 奪う．

- I gave you a king in My anger And took him away in My wrath.
- The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; His sin is stored up.
- The pains of childbirth come upon him; He is not a wise son, For it is not the time that he should delay at the opening of the womb.
- Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from death? O Death, where are your thorns? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion will be hidden from My sight.
- Though he flourishes among the reeds, An east wind will come, The wind of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; And his fountain will become dry And his spring will be dried up; It will plunder his treasury of every precious article.

- サマリヤ はその 神にそむいたので， その 罪を 負い， つるぎに 倒れ， その 幼な 子は 投げ ¿かれ， そのはらめる 女は 引き 裂かれる．

- Samaria will be held guilty, For she has rebelled against her God They will fall by the sword, Their little ones will be dashed in pieces, And their pregnant women will be ripped open.
