	여호수아 6:1-7:26 가나안 정복 전쟁에 나선 이스라엘이 하나님의 지시대로 여리고 성을 7일 동안 돈 뒤 외치자 성이 무너졌다. 백성들은 라합과 그의 가족을 제외한 모든 사람을 죽이고 은금은 하나님께 바쳤다. 그러나 아간의 범죄로 말미암아 아이 성 공략에 실패하고 말았고, 이에 여호수아는 하나님의 명령에 따라 제비뽑기를 실시하여 아간으로부터 죄를 자백받고 그와 그의 가족을 처형했다.

エリコは，イスラエルの人¿の攻擊に備えて城門を堅く閉ざしたので，だれも出入りすることはできなかった．

そのとき，主はヨシュアに言われた．「見よ，わたしはエリコとその王と勇士たちをあなたの手に渡す．

あなたたち兵士は皆，町の周りを回りなさい．町を一周し，それを六日間續けなさい．

七人の祭司は，それぞれ雄羊の角笛を携えて神の箱を先導しなさい．七日目には，町を七周し，祭司たちは角笛を吹き鳴らしなさい．

彼らが雄羊の角笛を長く吹き鳴らし，その音があなたたちの耳に達したら，民は皆，勘の聲をあげなさい．町の城壁は崩れ落ちるから，民は，それぞれ，その場所から突入しなさい．」

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.

Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.

March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.

Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.

When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in."

ヌンの子ヨシュアは，まず祭司たちを呼び集め，「契約の箱を擔げ．七人は，各自雄羊の角笛を携えて主の箱を先導せよ」と命じ，

次に民に向かって，「進め．町の周りを回れ．武裝兵は主の箱の前を行け」と命じた．

ヨシュアが民に命じ終わると，七人の祭司は，それぞれ雄羊の角笛を携え，それを吹き鳴らしながら主の前を行き，主の契約の箱はその後を進んだ．

武裝兵は，角笛を吹き鳴らす祭司たちの前衛として進み，また後衛として神の箱に從った．行進中，角笛は鳴り渡っていた．

So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant of the LORD and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it."

And he ordered the people, "Advance! March around the city, with the armed guard going ahead of the ark of the LORD."

When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the LORD went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the LORD's covenant followed them.

The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding.

But Joshua had commanded the people, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!"

彼はこうして，主の箱を擔いで町を回らせ，一周させた．その後，彼らは宿營に戾り，そこで夜を過ごした．

So he had the ark of the LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then the people returned to camp and spent the night there.

Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding.

So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.

On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times.

七度目に，祭司が角笛を吹き鳴らすと，ヨシュアは民に命じた．「勘の聲をあげよ．主はあなたたちにこの町を與えられた．

町とその中にあるものは，ことごとく滅ぼし盡くして主にささげよ．ただし，遊女ラハブおよび彼女と一緖に家の中にいる者は皆，生かしておきなさい．我¿が遣わした使いをかくまってくれたからである．

あなたたちはただ滅ぼし盡くすべきものを欲しがらないように氣をつけ，滅ぼし盡くすべきものの一部でもかすめ取ってイスラエルの宿營全體を滅ぼすような不幸を招かないようにせよ．

金，銀，銅器，鐵器はすべて主にささげる聖なるものであるから，主の寶物倉に納めよ．」

角笛が鳴り渡ると，民は勘の聲をあげた．民が角笛の音を聞いて，一齊に勘の聲をあげると，城壁が崩れ落ち，民はそれぞれ，その場から町に突入し，この町を占領した．

The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!

The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.

But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.

All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the LORD and must go into his treasury."

When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city.

彼らは，男も女も，若者も老人も，また牛，羊，ろばに至るまで町にあるものはことごとく劍にかけて滅ぼし盡くした．

ヨシュアは，土地を探った二人の斥候に，「あの遊女の家に行って，あなたたちが誓ったとおり，その女と彼女に連なる者すべてをそこから連れ出せ」と命じた．

斥候の若者たちは行って，ラハブとその父母，兄弟，彼女に連なる者すべてを連れ出し，彼女の親族をすべて連れ出してイスラエルの宿營のそばに避難させた．

They devoted the city to the LORD and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it--men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.

Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, "Go into the prostitute's house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her."

So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her. They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel.

Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD's house.

But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho--and she lives among the Israelites to this day.

ヨシュアは，このとき，誓って言った．「この町エリコを再建しようとする者は／主の呪いを受ける．基礎を据えたときに長子を失い／城門を建てたときに末子を失う．」

主がヨシュアと共におられたので，彼の名聲はこの地方一帶に廣まった．

At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: "Cursed before the LORD is the man who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: "At the cost of his firstborn son will he lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest will he set up its gates."

So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.

	아간의 범죄(7:1-7:26)

イスラエルの人¿は，滅ぼし盡くしてささげるべきことに對して不誠實であった．ユダ族に屬し，彼の父はカルミ，祖父はザブディ，更にゼラへとさかのぼるアカンは，滅ぼし盡くしてささげるべきものの一部を盜み取った．主はそこで，イスラエルの人¿に對して激しく憤られた．

ヨシュアはエリコからアイへ數人の人を遣わし，「上って行って，あの土地を探れ」と命じた．アイはベテルの東，ベト · アベンの近くにあった．彼らは上って行ってアイを探り，

But the Israelites acted unfaithfully in regard to the devoted things ; Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the LORD's anger burned against Israel.

Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven to the east of Bethel, and told them, "Go up and spy out the region." So the men went up and spied out Ai.

When they returned to Joshua, they said, "Not all the people will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary all the people, for only a few men are there."

So about three thousand men went up; but they were routed by the men of Ai,

who killed about thirty-six of them. They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

ヨシュアは衣服を引き裂き，イスラエルの長老たちと共に，主の箱の前で夕方まで地にひれ伏し，頭に塵をかぶった．

ヨシュアは神に言った．「ああ，わが神，主よ．なぜ，あなたはこの民にヨルダン川を渡らせたのですか．わたしたちをアモリ人の手に渡して滅ぼすおつもりだったのですか．わたしたちはヨルダン川の向こうにとどまることで滿足していたのです．

主よ，イスラエルが敵に背を向けて逃げ歸った今となって，わたしは何と言えばいいのでしょう．

カナン人やこの土地の住民は，このことを聞いたなら，わたしたちを攻め圍んで皆殺しにし，わたしたちの名を地から斷ってしまうでしょう．あなたは，御自分の偉大な御名のゆえに，何をしてくださるのですか．」

主はヨシュアに言われた．「立ちなさい．なぜ，そのようにひれ伏しているのか．

Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the LORD, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.

And Joshua said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan!

O Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has been routed by its enemies?

The Canaanites and the other people of the country will hear about this and they will surround us and wipe out our name from the earth. What then will you do for your own great name?"

The LORD said to Joshua, "Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?

イスラエルは罪を犯し，わたしが命じた契約を破り，滅ぼし盡くしてささげるべきものの一部を盜み取り，ごまかして自分のものにした．

だから，イスラエルの人¿は，敵に立ち向かうことができず，敵に背を向けて逃げ，滅ぼし盡くされるべきものとなってしまった．もし，あなたたちの間から滅ぼし盡くすべきものを一掃しないなら，わたしは，もはやあなたたちと共にいない．

立って民を淸め，『明日に備えて自分を聖別せよ』と命じなさい．イスラエルの神，主が，『イスラエルよ，あなたたちの中に滅ぼし盡くすべきものが殘っている．それを除き去るまでは敵に立ち向かうことはできない』と言われるからである．

明日の朝，あなたたちは部族ごとに進み出なさい．主の指摘を受けた部族は，氏族ごとに進み出なさい．主の指摘を受けた氏族は，家族ごとに進み出なさい．主の指摘を受けた家族の男子は，一人ずつ進み出なさい．

滅ぼし盡くすべきものを持つ者がこうして，指摘されたなら，その人は財産もろとも火で燒き盡くされねばならない．彼は主の契約を破り，イスラエルにおいては愚かなことをしたからである．」

Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.

That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.

"Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.

" 'In the morning, present yourselves tribe by tribe. The tribe that the LORD takes shall come forward clan by clan; the clan that the LORD takes shall come forward family by family; and the family that the LORD takes shall come forward man by man.

He who is caught with the devoted things shall be destroyed by fire, along with all that belongs to him. He has violated the covenant of the LORD and has done a disgraceful thing in Israel!' "

翌朝，ヨシュアは早く起き，イスラエルを部族ごとに進み出させると，ユダ族が指摘を受けた．

ユダの諸氏族を進み出させると，ゼラの氏族が指摘を受けた．ゼラの氏族の男子を一人ずつ進み出させると，ザブディ家が指摘を受けた．

ザブディ家の男子を一人ずつ進み出させると，ユダ族のゼラ氏族に屬するザブディ家のカルミの子アカンが指摘を受けた．

ヨシュアがアカンに，「わたしの子よ．イスラエルの神，主に榮光を歸し，主をほめたたえ，あなたが何をしたのか包み隱さずわたしに告げなさい」と言うと，

アカンはヨシュアに答えた．「わたしは，確かにイスラエルの神，主に罪を犯しました．わたしがしたことはこうです．

Early the next morning Joshua had Israel come forward by tribes, and Judah was taken.

The clans of Judah came forward, and he took the Zerahites. He had the clan of the Zerahites come forward by families, and Zimri was taken.

Joshua had his family come forward man by man, and Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

Then Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and give him the praise. Tell me what you have done; do not hide it from me."

Achan replied, "It is true! I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I have done:

分捕り物の中に一枚の美しいシンアルの上着，銀二百シェケル，重さ五十シェケルの金の延べ板があるのを見て，欲しくなって取りました．今それらは，わたしの天幕の地下に銀を下に敷いて埋めてあります．」

ヨシュアの出した使いたちがアカンの天幕に走って行って見ると，果たして彼の天幕の中に，銀を下に敷いて地下に埋めてあった．

彼らはそれを天幕から取り出して，ヨシュアとイスラエルのすべての人¿のもとに運び，主の前にひろげた．

ヨシュアはゼラの子アカンはもとより，銀，上着，金の延べ板，更に息子，娘，牛，ろば，羊，天幕，彼の全財産を取り押さえ，全イスラエルを率いてアコルの谷にそれらを運び，

こう宣言した．「お前は何という災いを我¿にもたらしたことか．今日は，主がお前に災いをもたらされる（アカル）．」全イスラエルはアカンに石を激しく投げつけ，彼のものを火に燒き，家族を石で打ち殺した．

When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath."

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath.

They took the things from the tent, brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and spread them out before the LORD.

Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold wedge, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.

Joshua said, "Why have you brought this trouble on us? The LORD will bring trouble on you today." Then all Israel stoned him, and after they had stoned the rest, they burned them.

彼らは，アカンの上に大きな石塚を積み上げたが，それは今日まで殘っている．主の激しい怒りはこうしてやんだ．このようなわけで，その場所の名はアコルの谷と呼ばれ，今日に至っている．

Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the LORD turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since.
