- さて， ファリサイ 派に 屬する， ニコデモ という 人がいた． ユダヤ 人たちの 議員であった．
- ある 夜， イエス のもとに 來て 言った． 「ラビ ， わたしどもは， あなたが 神のもとから 來られた 敎師であることを 知っています． 神が 共におられるのでなければ， あなたのなさるようなしるしを， だれも 行うことはできないからです． 」
- イエス は 答えて 言われた． 「はっきり 言っておく． 人は， 新たに 生まれなければ， 神の 國を 見ることはできない． 」
- ニコデモ は 言った． 「年をとった 者が， どうして 生まれることができましょう． もう 一度母親の 胎內に 入って 生まれることができるでしょうか． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「はっきり 言っておく． だれでも 水と 靈とによって 生まれなければ， 神の 國に 入ることはできない．

- Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.
- He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
- In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
- "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
- Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

- 肉から 生まれたものは 肉である． 靈から 生まれたものは 靈である．
- 『あなたがたは 新たに 生まれねばならない 』とあなたに 言ったことに， 驚いてはならない．
- 風は 思いのままに 吹く． あなたはその 音を 聞いても， それがどこから 來て， どこへ 行くかを 知らない． 靈から 生まれた 者も 皆そのとおりである． 」
- すると ニコデモ は， 「どうして， そんなことがありえましょうか 」と 言った．
- イエス は 答えて 言われた． 「あなたは イスラエル の 敎師でありながら， こんなことが 分からないのか．

- Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
- You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'
- The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
- "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.
- "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things?

- はっきり 言っておく． わたしたちは 知っていることを 語り， 見たことを 證ししているのに， あなたがたはわたしたちの 證しを 受け 入れない．
- わたしが 地上のことを 話しても 信じないとすれば， 天上のことを 話したところで， どうして 信じるだろう．
- 天から 降って 來た 者， すなわち 人の 子のほかには， 天に 上った 者はだれもいない．
- そして， モ ― セ が 荒れ 野で 蛇を 上げたように， 人の 子も 上げられねばならない．
- それは， 信じる 者が 皆， 人の 子によって 永遠の 命を 得るためである．

- I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.
- I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
- No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man.
- Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
- that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

- 神は， その 獨り 子をお 與えになったほどに， 世を 愛された． 獨り 子を 信じる 者が 一人も 滅びないで， 永遠の 命を 得るためである．
- 神が 御子を 世に 遣わされたのは， 世を 裁くためではなく， 御子によって 世が 救われるためである．
- 御子を 信じる 者は 裁かれない． 信じない 者は 旣に 裁かれている． 神の 獨り 子の 名を 信じていないからである．
- 光が 世に 來たのに， 人¿はその 行いが 惡いので， 光よりも 闇の 方を 好んだ． それが， もう 裁きになっている．
- 惡を 行う 者は 皆， 光を 憎み， その 行いが 明るみに 出されるのを 恐れて， 光の 方に 來ないからである．

- "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
- For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
- Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
- This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
- Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

- しかし， 眞理を 行う 者は 光の 方に 來る． その 行いが 神に 導かれてなされたということが， 明らかになるために． 」

- But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
