사무엘하 17:15-18:33

 후새의 도움으로 다윗은 무사히 위기를 벗어나 마하나임으로 도피했다. 그러나 끝까지 추격하는 압살롬과 에브라임 숲에서 일대 격전을 벌일 수밖에 없었다. 결국 압살롬은 요압에 의해 비참하게 죽고, 이를 전해 들은 다윗은 매우 슬퍼하였다.
  
  다윗의 피신(17:15-17:29)    
 
  1. フシャイ は 祭司 ツァドク と アビアタル に 言った． 「アヒトフェル は アブサロム と イスラエル の 長老たちにこれこれの 提案をしたが， わたしはこれこれの 提案をした．
  2. 急いで， 使者を ダビデ に 送り， こう 告げなさい． 荒れ 野の 渡し 場で 夜を 過ごさず， 渡ってしまわなければなりません． 王と 王に 從う 兵士が 全滅することのないように． 」
  3. ヨナタン と アヒマアツ は， 都に 入って 見つかってはならない， と エン · ロゲル にとどまっていた． 使いの 女が 行って 二人に 知らせ， 彼らが ダビデ 王に 傳えに 行くことにしたのである．
  4. ところが 一人の 若者が 彼らを 見て アブサロム に 知らせたので， 彼らは 急いで 立ち 去り， バフリム のある 男の 家に 入った． その 家の 內庭に 井戶があったので 二人はその 中に 降り，
  5. その 家の 妻が 井戶の 上に 覆いをかけ， その 上に 脫穀した 麥を 廣げた． 何も 氣づかれることはなかった．
  1. Hushai told Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, "Ahithophel has advised Absalom and the elders of Israel to do such and such, but I have advised them to do so and so.
  2. Now send a message immediately and tell David, 'Do not spend the night at the fords in the desert; cross over without fail, or the king and all the people with him will be swallowed up.' "
  3. Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying at En Rogel. A servant girl was to go and inform them, and they were to go and tell King David, for they could not risk being seen entering the city.
  4. But a young man saw them and told Absalom. So the two of them left quickly and went to the house of a man in Bahurim. He had a well in his courtyard, and they climbed down into it.
  5. His wife took a covering and spread it out over the opening of the well and scattered grain over it. No one knew anything about it.
  1. アブサロム の 部下がその 家の 妻のところに 來て， 「アヒマアツ と ヨナタン はどこにいる 」と 言った． 女が， 「ここを 通り 過ぎて 川の 方へ 行きました 」と 言うと， 彼らは 搜しに 行き， 發見できずに エルサレム へ 戾った．
  2. 彼らが 去った 後， 二人は 井戶から 上って 來て ダビデ 王のもとに 行き， こう 知らせた． 「直ちに 川を 渡ってください． アヒトフェル はあなたたちを 討つためにこういう 提案をしました． 」
  3. 王は 同行していた 兵士全員と 共に， 直ちに ヨルダン を 渡った． 夜明けの 光が 射すころには， ヨルダン を 渡れずに 殘された 者は 一人もいなかった．
  4. アヒトフェル は 自分の 提案が 實行されなかったことを 知ると， ろばに 鞍を 置き， 立って 家に 歸ろうと 自分の 町に 向かった． 彼は 家の 中を 整え， 首をつって 死に， 祖先の 墓に 葬られた．
  5. ダビデ が マハナイム に 着いたころ， アブサロム と 彼に 從う イスラエル の 兵は 皆， 共に ヨルダン を 渡った．
  1. When Absalom's men came to the woman at the house, they asked, "Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?" The woman answered them, "They crossed over the brook." The men searched but found no one, so they returned to Jerusalem.
  2. After the men had gone, the two climbed out of the well and went to inform King David. They said to him, "Set out and cross the river at once; Ahithophel has advised such and such against you."
  3. So David and all the people with him set out and crossed the Jordan. By daybreak, no one was left who had not crossed the Jordan.
  4. When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father's tomb.
  5. David went to Mahanaim, and Absalom crossed the Jordan with all the men of Israel.

  4. 寢具， たらい， 陶器， 小麥， 大麥， 麥粉， ·り 麥， 豆， レンズ 豆， ·り 麥，
  5. 蜂蜜， 凝乳， 羊， チ ― ズ を 食糧として ダビデ と 彼の 率いる 兵に 差し 出した． 兵士が 荒れ 野で 飢え， 疲れ， 渴いているにちがいないと 思ったからである．
  1. Absalom had appointed Amasa over the army in place of Joab. Amasa was the son of a man named Jether, an Israelite who had married Abigail, the daughter of Nahash and sister of Zeruiah the mother of Joab.
  2. The Israelites and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.
  3. When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim
  4. brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery. They also brought wheat and barley, flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils,
  5. honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows' milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, "The people have become hungry and tired and thirsty in the desert."
 
  압살롬의 죽음(18:1-18:33)    
 
  1. ダビデ は 彼に 從う 兵を 調べ， 千人隊の 長と 百人隊の 長を 任命した．
  2. 次いで ダビデ は 兵士を 三部隊に 分け， 三分の 一を ヨアブ の 指揮下に， 三分の 一を ツェルヤ の 子， ヨアブ の 弟 アビシャイ の 指揮下に， 三分の 一を ガト 人 イタイ の 指揮下においた． ダビデ 王は 兵士に 言った． 「わたしもお 前たちと 共に 出陣する． 」
  3. 兵士は 言った． 「出陣なさってはいけません． 我¿が 逃げ 出したとしても 彼らは 氣にも 留めないでしょうし， 我¿の 半數が 戰死しても 氣にも 留めないでしょう． しかしあなたは 我¿の 一万人にも 等しい 方です． 今は 町にとどまり， 町から 我¿を 助けてくださる 方がよいのです． 」
  4. 「わたしはお 前たちの 目に 良いと 映ることをしよう 」と 王は 言って， 町の 城門の 傍らに 立ち， 兵士は 皆， 百人隊， 千人隊となって 出て 行った．
  5. 王は ヨアブ ， アビシャイ ， イタイ に 命じた． 「若者 アブサロム を 手荒には 扱わないでくれ． 」兵士は 皆， アブサロム について 王が 將軍たち 全員に 命じるのを 聞いていた．
  1. David mustered the men who were with him and appointed over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.
  2. David sent the troops out--a third under the command of Joab, a third under Joab's brother Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. The king told the troops, "I myself will surely march out with you."
  3. But the men said, "You must not go out; if we are forced to flee, they won't care about us. Even if half of us die, they won't care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It would be better now for you to give us support from the city."
  4. The king answered, "I will do whatever seems best to you." So the king stood beside the gate while all the men marched out in units of hundreds and of thousands.
  5. The king commanded Joab, Abishai and Ittai, "Be gentle with the young man Absalom for my sake." And all the troops heard the king giving orders concerning Absalom to each of the commanders.
  1. 兵士たちは イスラエル 軍と 戰うために 野に 出て 行った． 戰いは エフライム の 森で 起こり，
  2. イスラエル 軍はそこで ダビデ の 家臣に 敗れた． 大敗北で， その 日， 二万人を 失った．
  3. 戰いはその 地の 全面に 廣がり， その 日密林の 餌食になった 者は 劍が 餌食にした 者よりも 多かった．
  4. アブサロム が ダビデ の 家臣に 出會ったとき， 彼はらばに 乘っていたが， らばが ¿の 大木のからまりあった 枝の 下を 通ったので， 頭がその 木にひっかかり， 彼は 天と 地の 間に 宙づりになった． 乘っていたらばはそのまま 走り 過ぎてしまった．

  1. The army marched into the field to fight Israel, and the battle took place in the forest of Ephraim.
  2. There the army of Israel was defeated by David's men, and the casualties that day were great--twenty thousand men.
  3. The battle spread out over the whole countryside, and the forest claimed more lives that day than the sword.
  4. Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom's head got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.
  5. When one of the men saw this, he told Joab, "I just saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree."
  1. ヨアブ は 知らせに 來た 者に 言った． 「見たなら， なぜその 場で 地に 打ち 落とさなかったのか． 銀十枚と 革帶一本を 與えただろうに． 」
  2. その 兵は ヨアブ に 言った． 「たとえこの 手のひらに 銀千枚の 重みを 感じるとしても， 王子をこの 手にかけたりはしません． 王があなたと アビシャイ ， イタイ に， 若者 アブサロム を 守れ， と 命じられたのを 我¿は 耳にしました．
  3. 假に， わたしが 彼の 命を 奪ってそれを 僞ろうとしても， 王には 何一つ 隱せません． あなたもわたしを 非とする 側に 立つでしょう． 」
  4. 「それなら， お 前に 期待はしない 」と ヨアブ は 言った． アブサロム は ¿の 木にひっかかったまま， まだ 生きていた． ヨアブ は 棒を 三本手に 取り， アブサロム の 心臟に 突き 刺した．
  5. ヨアブ の 武器を 持つ 從卒十人が 取り 圍んで アブサロム を 打ち， とどめを 刺した．
  1. Joab said to the man who had told him this, "What! You saw him? Why didn't you strike him to the ground right there? Then I would have had to give you ten shekels of silver and a warrior's belt."
  2. But the man replied, "Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lift my hand against the king's son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, 'Protect the young man Absalom for my sake. '
  3. And if I had put my life in jeopardy --and nothing is hidden from the king--you would have kept your distance from me."
  4. Joab said, "I'm not going to wait like this for you." So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree.
  5. And ten of Joab's armor-bearers surrounded Absalom, struck him and killed him.
  1. ヨアブ は 角笛を 吹いて 兵士を 引き 止めたので， 彼らは イスラエル 軍の 追跡をやめて 戾って 來た．

  4. ツァドク の 子 アヒマアツ は 言った． 「走って 行って， 主が 王を 敵の 手から 救ってくださったという 良い 知らせを 王に 傳えます． 」
  5. ヨアブ は 彼に， 「今日， お 前が 知らせるのはよくない． 日を 改めて 報告するがよい． 今日は 知らせないでおこう． 王の 息子が 死んだのだ 」と 言い，
  1. Then Joab sounded the trumpet, and the troops stopped pursuing Israel, for Joab halted them.
  2. They took Absalom, threw him into a big pit in the forest and piled up a large heap of rocks over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled to their homes.
  3. During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King's Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, "I have no son to carry on the memory of my name." He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom's Monument to this day.
  4. Now Ahimaaz son of Zadok said, "Let me run and take the news to the king that the LORD has delivered him from the hand of his enemies."
  5. "You are not the one to take the news today," Joab told him. "You may take the news another time, but you must not do so today, because the king's son is dead."
  1. クシュ 人に 命じた． 「行って， お 前が 見たとおりに 王に 報告せよ． 」 クシュ 人は ヨアブ に 一禮して 走り 去った．
  2. ツァドク の 子 アヒマアツ は 再び ヨアブ に， 「どんなことになろうと， わたしも クシュ 人を 追って 走りたいのです 」と 願った． 「子よ， お 前はどうしてそんなに 走りたいのだ． お 前が 行って 知らせるほどの 良い 知らせではない 」と ヨアブ は 言ったが，
  3. どんなことになろうと 行きたいと 言うので， ヨアブ は「走るがよい 」と 答えた． アヒマアツ は 低地に 道をとり， クシュ 人を 追い 越した．
  4. ダビデ は 二つの 城門の 間に 座っていた． 城壁に 沿った 城門の 屋根には， 見張りが 上って 目を 上げ， 男がただ 一人走って 來るのを 見た．
  5. 見張りは 王に 呼びかけて 知らせた． 王は， 「一人だけならば 良い 知らせをもたらすだろう 」と 言った． その 男が 近づいて 來たとき，
  1. Then Joab said to a Cushite, "Go, tell the king what you have seen." The Cushite bowed down before Joab and ran off.
  2. Ahimaaz son of Zadok again said to Joab, "Come what may, please let me run behind the Cushite." But Joab replied, "My son, why do you want to go? You don't have any news that will bring you a reward."
  3. He said, "Come what may, I want to run." So Joab said, "Run!" Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and outran the Cushite.
  4. While David was sitting between the inner and outer gates, the watchman went up to the roof of the gateway by the wall. As he looked out, he saw a man running alone.
  5. The watchman called out to the king and reported it. The king said, "If he is alone, he must have good news." And the man came closer and closer.
  1. 見張りはもう 一人の 男が 走って 來るのに 氣がつき， 門衛に 呼びかけて 言った． 「また 一人で 走って 來る 者がいます． 」王は， 「これもまた 良い 知らせだ 」と 言った．
  2. 見張りは， 「最初の 人の 走り 方は ツァドク の 子 アヒマアツ の 走り 方のように 見えます 」と 言った． 王は， 「良い 男だ． 良い 知らせなので 來たのだろう 」と 言った．
  3. アヒマアツ は「王に 平和 」と 叫び， 地にひれ 伏して 禮をし， 言った． 「あなたの 神， 主はほめたたえられますように． 主は 主君， 王に 手を 上げる 者どもを 引き 渡してくださいまし ㅳ棹 ㅧ
  4. 王が， 「若者 アブサロム は 無事か 」と 尋ねると， アヒマアツ は 答えた． 「ヨアブ が， 王樣の 僕とこの 僕とを 遣わそうとしたとき， 大¿ぎが 起こっているのを 見ましたが， 何も 知りません． 」
  5. 王が， 「脇に 寄って， 立っていなさい 」と 命じたので， アヒマアツ は 脇に 寄り， そこに 立った．
  1. Then the watchman saw another man running, and he called down to the gatekeeper, "Look, another man running alone!" The king said, "He must be bringing good news, too."
  2. The watchman said, "It seems to me that the first one runs like Ahimaaz son of Zadok." "He's a good man," the king said. "He comes with good news."
  3. Then Ahimaaz called out to the king, "All is well!" He bowed down before the king with his face to the ground and said, "Praise be to the LORD your God! He has delivered up the men who lifted their hands against my lord the king."
  4. The king asked, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" Ahimaaz answered, "I saw great confusion just as Joab was about to send the king's servant and me, your servant, but I don't know what it was."
  5. The king said, "Stand aside and wait here." So he stepped aside and stood there.
  1. そこへ クシュ 人が 到着した． 彼は 言った． 「主君， 王よ， 良い 知らせをお 聞きください． 主は， 今日あなたに 逆らって 立った 者どもの 手からあなたを 救ってくださいました． 」
  2. 王は クシュ 人に， 「若者 アブサロム は 無事か 」と 尋ねた． クシュ 人は 答えた． 「主君， 王の 敵， あなたに 危害を 與えようと 逆らって 立った 者はことごとく， あの 若者のようになりますように． 」
  1. Then the Cushite arrived and said, "My lord the king, hear the good news! The LORD has delivered you today from all who rose up against you."
  2. The king asked the Cushite, "Is the young man Absalom safe?" The Cushite replied, "May the enemies of my lord the king and all who rise up to harm you be like that young man."
  3. The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you--O Absalom, my son, my son!"
