	열왕기상 2:1-2:46 다윗이 솔로몬에게 마지막 유언을 남기고 임종하므로써 본격적인 솔로몬 시대가 개막되었다. 솔로몬은 신정 왕국을 확립해 가는 데 걸림이 되는 자들을 차례로 제거해 가며 왕권을 공고히 해 나갔다.

	다윗의 죽음(2:1-2:12)

死期が近づいたとき，ダビデはこう言って王子ソロモンを戒めた．

「わたしはこの世のすべての者がたどる道を行こうとしている．あなたは勇ましく雄¿しくあれ．

あなたの神，主の務めを守ってその道を步み，モ ― セの律法に記されているとおり，主の ¿と戒めと法と定めを守れ．そうすれば，あなたは何を行っても，どこに向かっても，良い成果を上げることができる．

また主は，わたしについて告げてくださったこと，『あなたの子孫が自分の步む道に留意し，まことをもって，心を盡くし，魂を盡くしてわたしの道を步むなら，イスラエルの王座につく者が斷たれることはない』という約束を守ってくださるであろう．

またあなたは，ツェルヤの子ヨアブがわたしにしたことを知っている．彼がイスラエルの二人の將軍，ネルの子アブネルとイエテルの子アマサにしたことである．ヨアブは彼らを殺し，平和なときに戰いの血を流し，腰の帶と足の靴に戰いの血をつけた．

When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.

"I am about to go the way of all the earth," he said. "So be strong, show yourself a man,

and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go,

and that the LORD may keep his promise to me: 'If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'

"Now you yourself know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me--what he did to the two commanders of Israel's armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.

それゆえ，あなたは知惠に從って行動し，彼が白髮をたくわえて安らかに陰府に下ることをゆるしてはならない．

ただし，ギレアド人バルジライの息子たちには慈しみ深くし，あなたの食卓に連なる者とせよ．彼らは，わたしがあなたの兄アブサロムを避けて逃げたとき，助けてくれたからである．

しかし今，あなたは彼の罪を不問に付してはならない．あなたは知惠ある者であり，彼に何をなすべきか分かっているからである．あの白髮を血に染めて陰府に送り ¿まなければならない．」

ダビデは先祖と共に眠りにつき，ダビデの町に葬られた．

Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.

"But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead and let them be among those who eat at your table. They stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.

"And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD : 'I will not put you to death by the sword.'

But now, do not consider him innocent. You are a man of wisdom; you will know what to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood."

Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.

ダビデがイスラエルの王であった期間は四十年に及んだ．彼はヘブロンで七年，エルサレムで三十三年間王位にあった．

ソロモンは父ダビデの王座につき，その支配は確立した．

He had reigned forty years over Israel--seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.

So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his rule was firmly established.

	솔로몬의 왕권 강화(2:13-2:46)

ハギトの子アドニヤはソロモンの母バト · シェバのもとに行った．彼女が，「穩やかな事のために來たのですか」と尋ねると，彼は，「穩やかな事のためです」と答えた．

彼が，「實はお話ししたい事があります」と言葉を續けると，彼女は，「話してごらんなさい」と答えたので，

彼は言った．「ご存じのとおり，王位はわたしのものであり，すべてのイスラエル人はわたしが王となるように期待していました．しかし，王位は移って弟のものとなりました．主のお計らいによってそうなったのです．

今，お願いを一つ申し上げます．斷らないでください．」彼女が，「話してごらんなさい」と言うので，

彼は言った．「あのシュネムの女アビシャグをわたしの妻にしていただけるように，ソロモン王に賴んでください．あなたの願いなら王もお斷りにならないでしょう．」

Now Adonijah, the son of Haggith, went to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother. Bathsheba asked him, "Do you come peacefully?" He answered, "Yes, peacefully."

Then he added, "I have something to say to you." "You may say it," she replied.

"As you know," he said, "the kingdom was mine. All Israel looked to me as their king. But things changed, and the kingdom has gone to my brother; for it has come to him from the LORD.

Now I have one request to make of you. Do not refuse me." "You may make it," she said.

So he continued, "Please ask King Solomon--he will not refuse you--to give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife."

バト · シェバは，「いいでしょう．あなたのために王に話します」と答えた．

彼女はアドニヤのために取り次ごうとして，ソロモン王のもとに行った．王は立ち上がって母を迎え，その前にひれ伏し，王座に着き，母のためにも席を設けさせた．彼女は王の右に座った．

"Very well," Bathsheba replied, "I will speak to the king for you."

When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king's mother, and she sat down at his right hand.

"I have one small request to make of you," she said. "Do not refuse me." The king replied, "Make it, my mother; I will not refuse you."

So she said, "Let Abishag the Shunammite be given in marriage to your brother Adonijah."

King Solomon answered his mother, "Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You might as well request the kingdom for him--after all, he is my older brother--yes, for him and for Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah!"

ソロモン王は主にかけてこう誓った．「アドニヤがこのような要求をしてもなお生きているなら，神が幾重にもわたしを罰してくださるように．

わたしを ¿るぎないものとして，父ダビデの王座につかせ，お約束どおりわたしのために家を興された主は生きておられる．アドニヤは今日死なねばならない．」

ソロモン王はヨヤダの子ベナヤを送ってアドニヤを討たせたので，アドニヤは死んだ．

王はまた祭司アビアタルにこう言った．「アナトトの自分の耕地に歸るがよい．お前は死に値する者だが，今日，わたしはお前に手を下すのを控える．お前はわたしの父ダビデの前で主なる神の箱を擔いだこともあり，いつも父と辛苦を共にしてくれたからだ．」

ソロモンはアビアタルが主の祭司であることをやめさせた．こうして主がシロでエリの家についてお告げになったことが實現した．

Then King Solomon swore by the LORD : "May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if Adonijah does not pay with his life for this request!

And now, as surely as the LORD lives--he who has established me securely on the throne of my father David and has founded a dynasty for me as he promised--Adonijah shall be put to death today!"

So King Solomon gave orders to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he struck down Adonijah and he died.

To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign LORD before my father David and shared all my father's hardships."

So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD, fulfilling the word the LORD had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli.

この知らせがヨアブにまで屆いた．ヨアブはアブサロムには加擔しなかったが，アドニヤに加擔したので，主の天幕に逃げ ¿み，祭壇の角をつかんだ．

ソロモン王は，ヨアブが主の天幕に逃げ ¿み，祭壇のそばにいることを知らされると，「行ってヨアブを討て」と命じ，ヨヤダの子ベナヤを遣わした．

ベナヤは主の天幕に入り，ヨアブに，「王が，『出て來い』と命じておられる」と言ったが，彼は，「出て行かない．わたしはここで死んでもよい」と答えた．ベナヤはヨアブがこう言って答えたと，その結果を王に傳えた．

王は言った．「彼の言うとおりにせよ．彼を打ち殺して地に葬れ．こうして，ヨアブが理由もなく流した血をわたしとわたしの父の家からぬぐい去れ．

主が彼の流した血の報いを彼自身の頭にもたらしてくださるように．彼はわたしの父ダビデの知らないうちに，自分より正しく善良な二人の人物，イスラエルの軍の司令官，ネルの子アブネルと，ユダの軍の司令官，イエテルの子アマサを討ち，劍にかけて殺した．

When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.

King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the LORD and was beside the altar. Then Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, "Go, strike him down!"

So Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, "The king says, 'Come out!' " But he answered, "No, I will die here." Benaiah reported to the king, "This is how Joab answered me."

Then the king commanded Benaiah, "Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so clear me and my father's house of the guilt of the innocent blood that Joab shed.

The LORD will repay him for the blood he shed, because without the knowledge of my father David he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them--Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army--were better men and more upright than he.

この二人の血の報いはヨアブとその子孫の頭にとこしえにもたらされ，ダビデとその子孫，その家，その王座には主によってとこしえに平和が續くように．」

ヨヤダの子ベナヤは上って行ってヨアブを打ち殺した．ヨアブは荒れ野にある自分の家に葬られた．

王は彼の代わりにヨヤダの子ベナヤを軍の司令官とし，アビアタルの代わりに祭司ツァドクを立てた．

王は人を遣わし，シムイを呼んで，言った．「エルサレムに家を建てて，そこに住むがよい．そこからどこにも出て行ってはならない．

もし出て行ってキドロンの川を渡れば，死なねばならないと心得よ．お前の血はお前自身の頭に降りかかるであろう．」

May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the LORD's peace forever."

So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab and killed him, and he was buried on his own land in the desert.

The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab's position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok the priest.

Then the king sent for Shimei and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.

The day you leave and cross the Kidron Valley, you can be sure you will die; your blood will be on your own head."

シムイは王に，「親切なお言葉です．僕は，わが主君，王の言われるとおりにいたします」と答えた．シムイはエルサレムに住んで多くの月日を過ごした．

しかし，三年目が過ぎて，シムイの二人の僕が，ガトの王マアカの子アキシュのもとに逃げ去ったときのことである．この二人の僕がガトにいるとの知らせを受けると，

シムイはろばに鞍を置き，二人の僕を搜し出すために，ガトのアキシュのもとへ行った．そしてシムイは，二人の僕をガトから連れ戾して來た．

シムイがエルサレムからガトに行って歸って來たとの知らせがソロモンに屆くと，

王は人を遣わしてシムイを呼び，こう言った．「わたしはお前に主にかけて誓わせ，警告しておいたではないか．『どこであれ出て行けば，その日に死なねばならないと心得よ』と．そのときお前は，『親切なお言葉です．わたしは從います』と答えた．

Shimei answered the king, "What you say is good. Your servant will do as my lord the king has said." And Shimei stayed in Jerusalem for a long time.

But three years later, two of Shimei's slaves ran off to Achish son of Maacah, king of Gath, and Shimei was told, "Your slaves are in Gath."

At this, he saddled his donkey and went to Achish at Gath in search of his slaves. So Shimei went away and brought the slaves back from Gath.

When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had returned,

the king summoned Shimei and said to him, "Did I not make you swear by the LORD and warn you, 'On the day you leave to go anywhere else, you can be sure you will die'? At that time you said to me, 'What you say is good. I will obey.'

なぜ主にかけて誓ったこと，またわたしの授けた戒めを守らなかったのか．」

更に王はシムイにこう言った．「お前はわたしの父ダビデに對して行ったすべての惡を知っているはずだ．お前の心はそれを知っている．主がお前の惡の報いをお前自身の頭にもたらしてくださるように．

しかし，ソロモン王は祝福され，ダビデの王座はとこしえに主の御前にあって ¿らぐことのないように．」

王がヨヤダの子ベナヤに命じたので，彼は出て行ってシムイを打ち殺した．こうして王國はソロモンの手によって ¿るぎないものとなった．

Why then did you not keep your oath to the LORD and obey the command I gave you?"

The king also said to Shimei, "You know in your heart all the wrong you did to my father David. Now the LORD will repay you for your wrongdoing.

But King Solomon will be blessed, and David's throne will remain secure before the LORD forever."

Then the king gave the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down and killed him. The kingdom was now firmly established in Solomon's hands.
