열왕기상 20:22-21:29

 1차 침공에 실패한 벤하닷은 2차 침공을 감행했고, 이스라엘은 전력의 열세에도 불구하고 하나님의 도우심으로 다시 대승을 거두었다. 그러나 아합은 하나님의 뜻을 벗어나 임의대로 벤하닷을 살려 줌으로써 하나님의 선지자로부터 심판을 예고받았다. 탐욕에 사로잡힌 아합이 나봇을 살해하고 그의 포도원을 빼앗자, 엘리야는 그에게 하나님의 심판을 선포하였다.
  
  벤하닷을 살려 준 아합(20:22-20:43)    
 
  1. かの 預言者が イスラエル の 王に 近づいて， こう 言った． 「勇氣をもって 進め． あなたはなすべきことをわきまえ 知れ． 年が 改まるころ， アラム の 王はあなたに 向かって 攻めて 來る． 」
  2. 他方， アラム の 王の 家臣たちは 王に 言った． 「彼らの 神は 山の 神だから， 彼らは 我¿に 對して 優勢だったのです． もし 平地で 戰えば， 我¿の 方が 優勢になるはずです．
  3. あなたはこうすべきです． 王侯たちをそれぞれその 地位から 退け， その 代わりに 長官を 置き，
  4. 失った 兵員， 軍馬， 戰車に 等しい 兵員， 軍馬， 戰車を 補充するのです． 我¿は 平地で 戰いましょう． 我¿の 方が 優勢になるはずです． 」王は 彼らの 意見を 入れて， そのとおりにした．

  1. Afterward, the prophet came to the king of Israel and said, "Strengthen your position and see what must be done, because next spring the king of Aram will attack you again."
  2. Meanwhile, the officials of the king of Aram advised him, "Their gods are gods of the hills. That is why they were too strong for us. But if we fight them on the plains, surely we will be stronger than they.
  3. Do this: Remove all the kings from their commands and replace them with other officers.
  4. You must also raise an army like the one you lost--horse for horse and chariot for chariot--so we can fight Israel on the plains. Then surely we will be stronger than they." He agreed with them and acted accordingly.
  5. The next spring Ben-Hadad mustered the Arameans and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.
  1. イスラエル の 人¿も 召集され， 兵糧を 支給されて， 敵を 迎え 擊つため 進んだ． イスラエル の 人¿は， 敵に 向かって 二つの 小さな 山羊の 群れのように 陣を 敷いたが， アラム 軍はその 地に 滿ちていた．
  2. そのとき， 神の 人が 近づいて， イスラエル の 王に 言った． 「主はこう 言われる． 『アラム 人は 主が 山の 神であって 平野の 神ではないと 言っているので， わたしはこの 大軍をことごとくあなたの 手に 渡す． こうしてあなたたちは， わたしこそ 主であることを 知る． 』」
  3. 兩軍は， 陣を 張って 七日間對峙した． 七日目になって 戰いを 交え， イスラエル 軍は 一日で アラム の 步兵十万人を 打ち 倒した．
  4. 敗殘兵は アフェク の 町に 逃げ ¿んだが， その 敗殘兵二万七千人の 上に 城壁が 崩れ 落ちた． ベン · ハダド も 逃げてこの 町に 入り， 部屋から 部屋へと 逃げ 回った．
  5. 家臣たちは 彼に 言った． 「イスラエル の 家の 王は， 慈しみ 深い 王であると 聞いています． 腰に 粗布を 卷き， 首に ¿をつけて イスラエル の 王のもとに 出て 行きましょう． あなたの 命を 助けてくれるかもしれません． 」
  1. When the Israelites were also mustered and given provisions, they marched out to meet them. The Israelites camped opposite them like two small flocks of goats, while the Arameans covered the countryside.
  2. The man of God came up and told the king of Israel, "This is what the LORD says: 'Because the Arameans think the LORD is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the LORD.' "
  3. For seven days they camped opposite each other, and on the seventh day the battle was joined. The Israelites inflicted a hundred thousand casualties on the Aramean foot soldiers in one day.
  4. The rest of them escaped to the city of Aphek, where the wall collapsed on twenty-seven thousand of them. And Ben-Hadad fled to the city and hid in an inner room.
  5. His officials said to him, "Look, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful. Let us go to the king of Israel with sackcloth around our waists and ropes around our heads. Perhaps he will spare your life."

  1. Wearing sackcloth around their waists and ropes around their heads, they went to the king of Israel and said, "Your servant Ben-Hadad says: 'Please let me live.' " The king answered, "Is he still alive? He is my brother."
  2. The men took this as a good sign and were quick to pick up his word. "Yes, your brother Ben-Hadad!" they said. "Go and get him," the king said. When Ben-Hadad came out, Ahab had him come up into his chariot.
  3. "I will return the cities my father took from your father," Ben-Hadad offered. "You may set up your own market areas in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria." Ahab said, "On the basis of a treaty I will set you free." So he made a treaty with him, and let him go.
  4. By the word of the LORD one of the sons of the prophets said to his companion, "Strike me with your weapon," but the man refused.
  5. So the prophet said, "Because you have not obeyed the LORD, as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you." And after the man went away, a lion found him and killed him.
  1. その 人 ／はもう 一人の 隣人を 見つけ， 「わたしを 打て 」と 言った． この 隣人は 彼を 打ち， 傷を 負わせた．
  2. この 預言者は 立ち 去り， 道で 王を 待った． 彼は 目に 包帶をして， だれだか 分からないようにした．
  3. 王が 通りかかったとき， 彼は 王に 向かって 叫んだ． 「僕が 戰場に 出て 行きますと， ある 人が 戰列を 離れて 一人の 男をわたしのところに 連れて 來て， 『この 男を 見張っておれ． もし 逃がしたら， お 前はこの 男の 命の 代わりに 自分の 命を 差し 出すか， 銀一 キカル を 拂え 』と 言いました．
  4. ところが， 僕があれこれしているうちに， その 男はいなくなってしまいました． 」 イスラエル の 王は， 「お 前の 裁きは， お 前が 自ら 決定したとおりになるはずだ 」と 答えた．
  5. 預言者が 急いで 目から 包帶を 取り 去ると， 彼が 預言者の 一人であることが， イスラエル の 王にも 分かった．
  1. The prophet found another man and said, "Strike me, please." So the man struck him and wounded him.
  2. Then the prophet went and stood by the road waiting for the king. He disguised himself with his headband down over his eyes.
  3. As the king passed by, the prophet called out to him, "Your servant went into the thick of the battle, and someone came to me with a captive and said, 'Guard this man. If he is missing, it will be your life for his life, or you must pay a talent of silver.'
  4. While your servant was busy here and there, the man disappeared." "That is your sentence," the king of Israel said. "You have pronounced it yourself."
  5. Then the prophet quickly removed the headband from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.
  1. 預言者は 王に 言った． 「主はこう 言われる． 『わたしが 滅ぼし 去るように 定めた 人物をあなたは 手もとから 逃がしたのだから， あなたの 命が 彼の 命に 代わり， あなたの 民が 彼の 民に 代わる． 』」
  2. イスラエル の 王は 機嫌を 損ね， 腹を 立てて 王宮に 向かい， サマリア に 歸って 行った．
  1. He said to the king, "This is what the LORD says: 'You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people.' "
  2. Sullen and angry, the king of Israel went to his palace in Samaria.
 
  나봇의 포도원(21:1-21:29)    
 
  1. これらの 出來事の 後のことである． イズレエル の 人 ナボト は， イズレエル にぶどう 畑を 持っていた． 畑は サマリア の 王 アハブ の 宮殿のそばにあった．
  2. アハブ は ナボト に 話を 持ちかけた． 「お 前のぶどう 畑を 讓ってくれ． わたしの 宮殿のすぐ 隣にあるので， それをわたしの 菜園にしたい． その 代わり， お 前にはもっと 良いぶどう 畑を 與えよう． もし 望むなら， それに 相當する 代金を 銀で 支拂ってもよい． 」
  3. ナボト は アハブ に， 「先祖から 傳わる 嗣業の 土地を 讓ることなど， 主にかけてわたしにはできません 」と 言った．
  4. アハブ は， イズレエル の 人 ナボト が， 「先祖から 傳わる 嗣業の 土地を 讓ることはできない 」と 言ったその 言葉に 機嫌を 損ね， 腹を 立てて 宮殿に 歸って 行った． 寢台に 橫たわった 彼は 顔を 背け， 食事も 取らなかった．

  1. Some time later there was an incident involving a vineyard belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite. The vineyard was in Jezreel, close to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.
  2. Ahab said to Naboth, "Let me have your vineyard to use for a vegetable garden, since it is close to my palace. In exchange I will give you a better vineyard or, if you prefer, I will pay you whatever it is worth."
  3. But Naboth replied, "The LORD forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers."
  4. So Ahab went home, sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, "I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers." He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat.
  5. His wife Jezebel came in and asked him, "Why are you so sullen? Why won't you eat?"
  1. 彼は 妻に 語った． 「イズレエル の 人 ナボト に， 彼のぶどう 畑をわたしに 銀で 買い 取らせるか， あるいは 望むなら 代わりの 畑と 取り 替えさせるか， いずれにしても 讓ってくれと 申し 入れたが， 畑は 讓れないと 言うのだ． 」
  2. 妻の イゼベル は 王に 言った． 「今 イスラエル を 支配しているのはあなたです． 起きて 食事をし， 元氣を 出してください． わたしが イズレエル の 人 ナボト のぶどう 畑を 手に 入れてあげましょう． 」
  3. イゼベル は アハブ の 名で 手紙を 書き， アハブ の 印を 押して 封をし， その 手紙を ナボト のいる 町に 住む 長老と 貴族に 送った．
  4. その 手紙にはこう 書かれていた． 「斷食を 布告し， ナボト を 民の 最前列に 座らせよ．
  5. ならず 者を 二人彼に 向かって 座らせ， ナボト が 神と 王とを 呪った， と 證言させよ． こうして ナボト を 引き 出し， 石で 打ち 殺せ． 」
  1. He answered her, "Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite, 'Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.' But he said, 'I will not give you my vineyard.' "
  2. Jezebel his wife said, "Is this how you act as king over Israel? Get up and eat! Cheer up. I'll get you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite."
  3. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, placed his seal on them, and sent them to the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth's city with him.
  4. In those letters she wrote: "Proclaim a day of fasting and seat Naboth in a prominent place among the people.
  5. But seat two scoundrels opposite him and have them testify that he has cursed both God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death."
  1. その 町の 人¿， その 町に 住む 長老と 貴族たちは イゼベル が 命じたとおり， すなわち 彼女が 手紙で 彼らに 書き 送ったとおりに 行った．
  2. 彼らは 斷食を 布告し， ナボト を 民の 最前列に 座らせた．

  1. So the elders and nobles who lived in Naboth's city did as Jezebel directed in the letters she had written to them.
  2. They proclaimed a fast and seated Naboth in a prominent place among the people.
  3. Then two scoundrels came and sat opposite him and brought charges against Naboth before the people, saying, "Naboth has cursed both God and the king." So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death.
  4. Then they sent word to Jezebel: "Naboth has been stoned and is dead."
  5. As soon as Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, "Get up and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite that he refused to sell you. He is no longer alive, but dead."
  1. アハブ は ナボト が 死んだと 聞くと， 直ちに イズレエル の 人 ナボト のぶどう 畑を 自分のものにしようと 下って 行った．
  2. そのとき， 主の 言葉が ティシュベ 人 エリヤ に 臨んだ．

  5. アハブ が エリヤ に， 「わたしの 敵よ， わたしを 見つけたのか 」と 言うと， エリヤ は 答えた． 「そうだ． あなたは 自分を 賣り 渡して 主の 目に 惡とされることに 身をゆだねたからだ．
  1. When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up and went down to take possession of Naboth's vineyard.
  2. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite:
  3. "Go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who rules in Samaria. He is now in Naboth's vineyard, where he has gone to take possession of it.
  4. Say to him, 'This is what the LORD says: Have you not murdered a man and seized his property?' Then say to him, 'This is what the LORD says: In the place where dogs licked up Naboth's blood, dogs will lick up your blood--yes, yours!' "
  5. Ahab said to Elijah, "So you have found me, my enemy!" "I have found you," he answered, "because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD.
  1. 『見よ， わたしはあなたに 災いをくだし， あなたの 子孫を 除き 去る． イスラエル において アハブ に 屬する 男子を， つながれている 者も 解き 放たれている 者もすべて 絶ち 滅ぼす．
  2. わたしはあなたが 招いた 怒りのため， また イスラエル の 人¿に 罪を 犯させたため， あなたの 家を ネバト の 子 ヤロブアム の 家と 同じように， また アヒヤ の 子 バシャ の 家と 同じようにする． 』
  3. 主は イゼベル にもこう 告げられる． 『イゼベル は イズレエル の 壘壁の 中で 犬の 群れの 餌食になる．
  4. アハブ に 屬する 者は， 町で 死ねば 犬に 食われ， 野で 死ねば 空の 鳥の 餌食になる． 』」
  5. アハブ のように， 主の 目に 惡とされることに 身をゆだねた 者はいなかった． 彼は， その 妻 イゼベル に 唆されたのである．
  1. 'I am going to bring disaster on you. I will consume your descendants and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel--slave or free.
  2. I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat and that of Baasha son of Ahijah, because you have provoked me to anger and have caused Israel to sin.'
  3. "And also concerning Jezebel the LORD says: 'Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.'
  4. "Dogs will eat those belonging to Ahab who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country."
  5. (There was never a man like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD, urged on by Jezebel his wife.
  1. 彼は， 主が イスラエル の 人¿の 前から 追い 拂われた アモリ 人と 全く 同じように 偶像に 仕え， 甚だしく 忌まわしいことを 行った．
  2. アハブ はこれらの 言葉を 聞くと， 衣を 裂き， 粗布を 身にまとって 斷食した． 彼は 粗布の 上に 橫たわり， 打ちひしがれて 步いた．

  1. He behaved in the vilest manner by going after idols, like the Amorites the LORD drove out before Israel.)
  2. When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted. He lay in sackcloth and went around meekly.
  3. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite:
  4. "Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day, but I will bring it on his house in the days of his son."
