- 神は アブラハム やその 子孫に 世界を 受け 繼がせることを 約束されたが， その 約束は， 律法に 基づいてではなく， 信仰による 義に 基づいてなされたのです．
- 律法に 賴る 者が 世界を 受け 繼ぐのであれば， 信仰はもはや 無意味であり， 約束は 廢止されたことになります．
- 實に， 律法は 怒りを 招くものであり， 律法のないところには 違犯もありません．
- 從って， 信仰によってこそ 世界を 受け 繼ぐ 者となるのです． 惠みによって， アブラハム のすべての 子孫， つまり， 單に 律法に 賴る 者だけでなく， 彼の 信仰に 從う 者も， 確實に 約束にあずかれるのです． 彼はわたしたちすべての 父です．

- It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
- For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless,
- because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
- Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
- As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

- 彼は 希望するすべもなかったときに， なおも 望みを 抱いて， 信じ， 「あなたの 子孫はこのようになる 」と 言われていたとおりに， 多くの 民の 父となりました．
- そのころ 彼は， およそ 百歲になっていて， 旣に 自分の 體が 衰えており， そして 妻 サラ の 體も 子を 宿せないと 知りながらも， その 信仰が 弱まりはしませんでした．
- 彼は 不信仰に 陷って 神の 約束を 疑うようなことはなく， むしろ 信仰によって 强められ， 神を 贊美しました．
- 神は 約束したことを 實現させる 力も， お 持ちの 方だと， 確信していたのです．
- だからまた， それが 彼の 義と 認められたわけです．

- Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
- Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead.
- Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
- being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
- This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness."

- しかし， 「それが 彼の 義と 認められた 」という 言葉は， アブラハム のためだけに 記されているのでなく，
- わたしたちのためにも 記されているのです． わたしたちの 主 イエス を 死者の 中から 復活させた 方を 信じれば， わたしたちも 義と 認められます．
- イエス は， わたしたちの 罪のために 死に 渡され， わたしたちが 義とされるために 復活させられたのです．

- The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,
- but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
- He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
