	예레미야애가 3:1-5:22 예레미야는 자비와 긍휼이 무한하신 하나님께 절망에 처한 백성들을 구원해 주시기를 간구했고, 유다 백성들과 지도자들에게 그들의 죄를 상기시켜 회개를 촉구하였다. 그리고 유다의 회복을 소망하며 하나님께서 구원해 주실 것을 호소하였다.

	선지자의 고통과 기도(3:1-3:66)

わたしは／主の怒りの杖に打たれて苦しみを知った者．

闇の中に追い立てられ，光なく步く．

そのわたしを，御手がさまざまに責め續ける．

わたしの皮膚を打ち，肉を打ち／骨をことごとく ¿く．

陣を敷き，包圍して／わたしを疲勞と欠乏に陷れ

I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

He has driven me away and made me walk in darkness rather than light;

indeed, he has turned his hand against me again and again, all day long.

He has made my skin and my flesh grow old and has broken my bones.

He has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship.

大昔の死者らと共に／わたしを闇の奧に住まわせる．

柵を巡らして逃げ道をふさぎ／重い鎖でわたしを縛りつける．

助けを求めて叫びをあげても／わたしの訴えはだれにも屆かない．

切り石を積んで行く手をふさぎ／道を曲げてわたしを迷わす．

熊のようにわたしを待ち伏せ／獅子のようにひそみ

He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead.

He has walled me in so I cannot escape; he has weighed me down with chains.

Even when I call out or cry for help, he shuts out my prayer.

He has barred my way with blocks of stone; he has made my paths crooked.

Like a bear lying in wait, like a lion in hiding,

逃げ惑うわたしを引き裂いて捨てる．

弓に矢をつがえて引き絞り／わたしにねらいを定める．

·の矢を次¿と放ち／わたしの腎臟を射拔く．

民は皆，わたしを嘲笑い／絶え間なく嘲りの歌を浴びせる．

わたしを苦惱に飽かせ，苦汁を飮ませられる．

he dragged me from the path and mangled me and left me without help.

He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows.

He pierced my heart with arrows from his quiver.

I became the laughingstock of all my people; they mock me in song all day long.

He has filled me with bitter herbs and sated me with gall.

砂利をかませてわたしの齒を ¿き／塵の中にわたしを打ち倒す．

わたしの魂は平和を失い／幸福を忘れた．

わたしは言う／「わたしの生きる力は絶えた／ただ主を待ち望もう」と．

苦汁と欠乏の中で／貧しくさすらったときのことを

決して忘れず，覺えているからこそ／わたしの魂は沈み ¿んでいても

He has broken my teeth with gravel; he has trampled me in the dust.

I have been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is.

So I say, "My splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the LORD."

I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.

I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.

再び心を勵まし，なお待ち望む．

主の慈しみは決して絶えない．主の憐れみは決して盡きない．

それは朝ごとに新たになる．「あなたの眞實はそれほど深い．

主こそわたしの受ける分」とわたしの魂は言い／わたしは主を待ち望む．

主に望みをおき尋ね求める魂に／主は幸いをお與えになる．

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

主の救いを默して待てば，幸いを得る．

若いときに阿を負った人は，幸いを得る．

阿を負わされたなら／默して，獨り座っているがよい．

塵に口をつけよ，望みが見いだせるかもしれない．

打つ者に頰を向けよ／十分に懲らしめを味わえ．

it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.

Let him sit alone in silence, for the LORD has laid it on him.

Let him bury his face in the dust-- there may yet be hope.

Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him, and let him be filled with disgrace.

主は，決して／あなたをいつまでも捨て置かれはしない．

主の慈しみは深く／懲らしめても，また憐れんでくださる．

人の子らを苦しめ惱ますことがあっても／それが御心なのではない．

この地の捕われ人をだれかれなく／足の下に踏みにじったり

いと高き神の御前をもはばからずに／他人の權利を奪ったり

For men are not cast off by the Lord forever.

Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.

To crush underfoot all prisoners in the land,

to deny a man his rights before the Most High,

申し立てを曲解して裁いたりすれば／主は決してそれを見過ごしにはされない．

誰が「あれ」といってあらしめえようか．主が命じられることではないか．

災いも，幸いも／いと高き神の命令によるものではないか．

生身の人間が，ひとりひとり／自分の過ちについてとやかく言うことはない．

わたしたちは自らの道を探し求めて／主に立ち歸ろう．

to deprive a man of justice-- would not the Lord see such things?

Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?

Why should any living man complain when punished for his sins?

Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.

天にいます神に向かって／兩手を上げ心も擧げて言おう．

わたしたちは，背き逆らいました．あなたは，お赦しになりませんでした．

あなたは怒りに包まれて追い迫り／わたしたちを打ち殺して容赦なさらない．

あなたは雲の中に御自分をとざし／どんな祈りもさえぎられます．

わたしたちを塵，芥のようにして／諸國の民の中にお見捨てになりました．

Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven, and say:

"We have sinned and rebelled and you have not forgiven.

"You have covered yourself with anger and pursued us; you have slain without pity.

You have covered yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through.

You have made us scum and refuse among the nations.

敵は皆，わたしたちに向かって大口を開く．

恐れとおののきが， ¿亂と破壞が，襲いかかる．

わたしの民の娘は打ち ¿かれ／わたしの目は ¿のように淚を流す．

わたしの目は休むことなく淚を流し續ける．

主が天から見下ろし／目を留めてくださるときまで．

"All our enemies have opened their mouths wide against us.

We have suffered terror and pitfalls, ruin and destruction."

Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed.

My eyes will flow unceasingly, without relief,

until the LORD looks down from heaven and sees.

わたしの都の娘らを見て／わたしの目は魂に痛みをもたらす．

敵はゆえなくわたしを追う／鳥を追う狩人のように．

命を絶とうとわたしを穴に落とし／その上に石を投げる．

水はわたしの頭を越え／もう最期だとわたしは思った．

深い穴の底から／主よ，わたしは御名を呼びます．

What I see brings grief to my soul because of all the women of my city.

Those who were my enemies without cause hunted me like a bird.

They tried to end my life in a pit and threw stones at me;

the waters closed over my head, and I thought I was about to be cut off.

I called on your name, O LORD, from the depths of the pit.

耳を閉ざさず，この聲を聞き／わたしを助け，救い出してください．

呼び求めるわたしに近づき／恐れるなと言ってください．

主よ，生死にかかわるこの爭いを／わたしに代わって爭い，命を ·ってください．

主よ，わたしになされた不正を見／わたしの訴えを取り上げてください．

わたしに對する惡意を／謀のすべてを見てください．

You heard my plea: "Do not close your ears to my cry for relief."

You came near when I called you, and you said, "Do not fear."

O Lord, you took up my case; you redeemed my life.

You have seen, O LORD, the wrong done to me. Uphold my cause!

You have seen the depth of their vengeance, all their plots against me.

主よ，わたしに向けられる嘲りと／謀のすべてを聞いてください．

敵對する者の唇，吐く言葉は／絶え間なくわたしを責めます．

御覽ください，彼らは座るにも立つにも／わたしを嘲って歌いはやします．

主よ，その仕業にしたがって／彼らを罰してください．

彼らの上に呪いを注いで／彼らの心を頑にしてください．

O LORD, you have heard their insults, all their plots against me-

what my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long.

Look at them! Sitting or standing, they mock me in their songs.

Pay them back what they deserve, O LORD, for what their hands have done.

Put a veil over their hearts, and may your curse be on them!

主よ，あなたのいます天の下から彼らを追い／御怒りによって滅ぼし去ってください．

Pursue them in anger and destroy them from under the heavens of the LORD.

なにゆえ，黃金は光を失い／純金はさげすまれているのか．どの街角にも／聖所の石が打ち捨てられているのか．

貴いシオンの子ら，金にも比べられた人¿が／なにゆえ，土の器とみなされ／陶工の手になるものとみなされるのか．

山犬ですら乳を與えて子を養うというのに／わが民の娘は殘酷になり／荒れ野の喚鳥のようにふるまう．

乳飮み子の舌は渴いて上顎に付き／幼子はパンを求めるが，分け與える者もいない．

美食に馴れた者も，街にあえぎ／紫の衣に包まれて育った者も塵にまみれている．

How the gold has lost its luster, the fine gold become dull! The sacred gems are scattered at the head of every street.

How the precious sons of Zion, once worth their weight in gold, are now considered as pots of clay, the work of a potter's hands!

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.

Because of thirst the infant's tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth; the children beg for bread, but no one gives it to them.

Those who once ate delicacies are destitute in the streets. Those nurtured in purple now lie on ash heaps.

ソドムは，その罪のゆえに／人の手によらず，一瞬にして滅んだが／わたしの民の娘は／それよりも重い罪を犯したのだ．

この民のナジル人らは雪よりも淸く／乳よりも白く輝いていた．骨は眞珠よりも輝き，姿は水晶のようであった．

だが，彼らの容姿はすすよりも黑くなり／街で彼らと氣づく者もないほどになり／皮膚は骨に張り付き／枯れ木のようになった．

劍に貫かれて死んだ者は／飢えに貫かれた者より幸いだ．刺し貫かれて血を流す方が／畑の實りを失うよりも幸いだ．

憐れみ深い女の手が自分の子供を煮炊きした．わたしの民の娘が打ち ¿かれた日／それを自分の食糧としたのだ．

The punishment of my people is greater than that of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment without a hand turned to help her.

Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like sapphires.

But now they are blacker than soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones; it has become as dry as a stick.

Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field.

With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.

主の憤りは極まり／主は燃える怒りを注がれた．シオンに火は燃え上がり／都の礎までもなめ盡くした．

わたしたちを苦しめる敵が／エルサレムの城門から入るなどと／地上の王の誰が／この世に住む誰が，信じえたであろう．

これはエルサレムの預言者らの罪のゆえ／祭司らの惡のゆえだ．エルサレムのただ中に／正しい人¿の血を注ぎ出したからだ．

彼らは血に汚れ／目は見えず，街をさまよう．その衣に觸れることはだれにも許されない．

「去れ，汚れた者よ」と人¿は叫ぶ．「去れ，去れ，何にも觸れるな」と．「こうしてさまよい步け」と國¿は言う．「再びここに住むことはならない」と．

The LORD has given full vent to his wrath; he has poured out his fierce anger. He kindled a fire in Zion that consumed her foundations.

The kings of the earth did not believe, nor did any of the world's people, that enemies and foes could enter the gates of Jerusalem.

But it happened because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed within her the blood of the righteous.

Now they grope through the streets like men who are blind. They are so defiled with blood that no one dares to touch their garments.

"Go away! You are unclean!" men cry to them. "Away! Away! Don't touch us!" When they flee and wander about, people among the nations say, "They can stay here no longer."

主は御顔を背け／再び目を留めてはくださらない．祭司らは見捨てられ／長老らは顧みられない．

今なお，わたしたちの目は／援軍を求めていたずらに疲れ／救ってはくれない他國をなお見張って待つ．

町の廣場を步こうとしても／一步一步をうかがうものがある．終りの時が近づき，わたしたちの日は滿ちる．まさに，終りの時が來たのだ．

わたしたちに追い迫る者は／空を飛ぶ鷲よりも速く／山¿にわたしたちを追い回し／荒れ野に待ち伏せる．

主の油注がれた者，わたしたちの命の息吹／その人が彼らの ┼に捕えられた．異國民の中にあるときも，その人の陰で／生き拔こうと賴みにした，その人が．

The LORD himself has scattered them; he no longer watches over them. The priests are shown no honor, the elders no favor.

Moreover, our eyes failed, looking in vain for help; from our towers we watched for a nation that could not save us.

Men stalked us at every step, so we could not walk in our streets. Our end was near, our days were numbered, for our end had come.

Our pursuers were swifter than eagles in the sky; they chased us over the mountains and lay in wait for us in the desert.

The LORD's anointed, our very life breath, was caught in their traps. We thought that under his shadow we would live among the nations.

娘エドムよ，喜び祝うがよい／ウツの地に住む女よ．お前にもこの杯は廻って來るのだ．そのときは，醉いしれて裸になるがよい．

おとめシオンよ，惡事の赦される時が來る．再び捕囚となることはない．娘エドムよ，罪の罰せられる時が來る．お前の罪はことごとくあばかれる．

Rejoice and be glad, O Daughter of Edom, you who live in the land of Uz. But to you also the cup will be passed; you will be drunk and stripped naked.

O Daughter of Zion, your punishment will end; he will not prolong your exile. But, O Daughter of Edom, he will punish your sin and expose your wickedness.

	회복을 구하는 기도(5:1-5:22)

主よ／わたしたちにふりかかったことに心を留め／わたしたちの受けた嘲りに目を留めてください．

わたしたちの嗣業は他國の民のものとなり／家は異邦の民のものとなった．

父はなく，わたしたちは孤兒となり／母はやもめとなった．

自分の水をすら，金を拂って飮み／自分の木からすら，價を拂って取り入れる．

首には阿を負わされて追い立てられ／疲れても，憩いはない．

Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us; look, and see our disgrace.

Our inheritance has been turned over to aliens, our homes to foreigners.

We have become orphans and fatherless, our mothers like widows.

We must buy the water we drink; our wood can be had only at a price.

Those who pursue us are at our heels; we are weary and find no rest.

わたしたちはエジプトに手を出し／パンに飽こうとアッシリアに向かった．

父祖は罪を犯したが，今は亡く／その咎をわたしたちが負わされている．

奴隷であった者らがわたしたちを支配し／その手からわたしたちを奪い返す者はない．

パンを取って來るには命をかけねばならない．荒れ野には劍が待っている．

飢えは熱病をもたらし／皮膚は爐のように燒けただれている．

We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.

Our fathers sinned and are no more, and we bear their punishment.

Slaves rule over us, and there is none to free us from their hands.

We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the desert.

Our skin is hot as an oven, feverish from hunger.

人妻はシオンで犯され／おとめはユダの町¿で犯されている．

君侯は敵の手で吊り刑にされ／長老も敬われない．

若者は挽き臼を負わされ／子供は薪を負わされてよろめく．

長老は町の門の集いから姿を消し／若者の音樂は絶えた．

わたしたちの心は樂しむことを忘れ／踊りは喪の嘆きに變わった．

Women have been ravished in Zion, and virgins in the towns of Judah.

Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders are shown no respect.

Young men toil at the millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood.

The elders are gone from the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.

Joy is gone from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.

冠は頭から落ちた．いかに災いなことか．わたしたちは罪を犯したのだ．

それゆえ，心は病み／この有樣に目はかすんでゆく．

シオンの山は荒れ果て，狐がそこを行く．

主よ，あなたはとこしえにいまし／代¿に續く御座にいます方．

なぜ，いつまでもわたしたちを忘れ／果てしなく見捨てておかれるのですか．

The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!

Because of this our hearts are faint, because of these things our eyes grow dim

for Mount Zion, which lies desolate, with jackals prowling over it.

You, O LORD, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation.

Why do you always forget us? Why do you forsake us so long?

主よ，御もとに立ち歸らせてください／わたしたちは立ち歸ります．わたしたちの日¿を新しくして／昔のようにしてください．

あなたは激しく憤り／わたしたちをまったく見捨てられました．

Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old

unless you have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure.
