	출애굽기 32:1-33:23 모세가 시내 산에서 계명을 받는 동안 백성들은 금송아지를 만들어 숭배하는 죄를 짓고 있었다. 이러한 백성들을 본 모세는 십계명이 기록된 두 돌판을 깨뜨리고 레위인들과 함께 우상 숭배자들을 처단하였다. 이스라엘 백성들에 대해 진노하시는 하나님께 모세는 자신의 생명을 내놓고 끈질기게 중보 기도를 드렸다. 그리하여 결국 하나님과 이스라엘의 관계는 다시 회복되었다.

	금송아지 숭배(32:1-32:35)

モ ― セが山からなかなか下りて來ないのを見て，民がアロンのもとに集まって來て，「さあ，我¿に先立って進む神¿を造ってください．エジプトの國から我¿を導き上った人，あのモ ― セがどうなってしまったのか分からないからです」と言うと，

アロンは彼らに言った．「あなたたちの妻，息子，娘らが着けている金の耳輪をはずし，わたしのところに持って來なさい．」

民は全員，着けていた金の耳輪をはずし，アロンのところに持って來た．

彼はそれを受け取ると，のみで型を作り，若い雄牛の鑄像を造った．すると彼らは，「イスラエルよ，これこそあなたをエジプトの國から導き上ったあなたの神¿だ」と言った．

アロンはこれを見て，その前に祭壇を築き，「明日，主の祭りを行う」と宣言した．

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

彼らは次の朝早く起き，燒き盡くす獻げ物をささげ，和解の獻げ物を供えた．民は座って飮み食いし，立っては戱れた．

今は，わたしを引き止めるな．わたしの怒りは彼らに對して燃え上がっている．わたしは彼らを滅ぼし盡くし，あなたを大いなる民とする．」

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

モ ― セは主なる神をなだめて言った．「主よ，どうして御自分の民に向かって怒りを燃やされるのですか．あなたが大いなる御力と强い御手をもってエジプトの國から導き出された民ではありませんか．

どうしてエジプト人に，『あの神は，惡意をもって彼らを山で殺し，地上から滅ぼし盡くすために導き出した』と言わせてよいでしょうか．どうか，燃える怒りをやめ，御自分の民にくだす災いを思い直してください．

どうか，あなたの僕であるアブラハム，イサク，イスラエルを思い起こしてください．あなたは彼らに自ら誓って，『わたしはあなたたちの子孫を天の星のように增やし，わたしが與えると約束したこの土地をことごとくあなたたちの子孫に授け，永久にそれを繼がせる』と言われたではありませんか．」

主は御自身の民にくだす，と告げられた災いを思い直された．

モ ― セが身を飜して山を下るとき，二枚の ¿の板が彼の手にあり，板には文字が書かれていた．その兩面に，表にも裏にも文字が書かれていた．

And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

その板は神御自身が作られ，筆跡も神御自身のものであり，板に彫り刻まれていた．

And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

モ ― セはアロンに，「この民があなたに一體何をしたというので，あなたはこの民にこんな大きな罪を犯させたのか」と言うと，

アロンは言った．「わたしの主よ，どうか怒らないでください．この民が惡いことはあなたもご存じです．

彼らはわたしに，『我¿に先立って進む神¿を造ってください．我¿をエジプトの國から導き上った人，あのモ ― セがどうなってしまったのか分からないからです』と言いましたので，

わたしが彼らに，『だれでも金を持っている者は，それをはずしなさい』と言うと，彼らはわたしに差し出しました．わたしがそれを火に投げ入れると，この若い雄牛ができたのです．」

モ ― セはこの民が勝手なふるまいをしたこと，アロンが彼らに勝手なふるまいをさせて，敵對する者の嘲りの種となったことを見ると，

And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

宿營の入り口に立ち，「だれでも主につく者は，わたしのもとに集まれ」と言った．レビの子らが全員彼のもとに集まると，

彼らに，「イスラエルの神，主がこう言われる．『おのおの，劍を帶び，宿營を入り口から入り口まで行き巡って，おのおの自分の兄弟，友，隣人を殺せ』」と命じた．

レビの子らは，モ ― セの命じたとおりに行った．その日，民のうちで倒れた者はおよそ三千人であった．

モ ― セは言った．「おのおの自分の子や兄弟に逆らったから，今日，あなたたちは主の祭司職に任命された．あなたたちは今日，祝福を受ける．」

翌日になって，モ ― セは民に言った．「お前たちは大きな罪を犯した．今，わたしは主のもとに上って行く．あるいは，お前たちの罪のために ·いができるかもしれない．」

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

モ ― セは主のもとに戾って言った．「ああ，この民は大きな罪を犯し，金の神を造りました．

今，もしもあなたが彼らの罪をお赦しくださるのであれば ……．もし，それがかなわなければ，どうかこのわたしをあなたが書き記された書の中から消し去ってください．」

主はモ ― セに言われた．「わたしに罪を犯した者はだれでも，わたしの書から消し去る．

しかし今，わたしがあなたに告げた所にこの民を導いて行きなさい．見よ，わたしの使いがあなたに先立って行く．しかし，わたしの裁きの日に，わたしは彼らをその罪のゆえに罰する．」

主は民がアロンに若い雄牛を造らせたので，民を打たれたのである．

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

	모세의 중보 기도(33:1-33:23)

主はモ ― セに仰せになった．「さあ，あなたも，あなたがエジプトの國から導き上った民も，ここをたって，わたしがアブラハム，イサク，ヤコブに誓って，『あなたの子孫にそれを與える』と言った土地に上りなさい．

わたしは，使いをあなたに先立って遣わし，カナン人，アモリ人，ヘト人，ペリジ人，ヒビ人，エブス人を追い出す．

あなたは乳と蜜の流れる土地に上りなさい．しかし，わたしはあなたの間にあって上ることはしない．途中であなたを滅ぼしてしまうことがないためである．あなたはかたくなな民である．」

民はこの惡い知らせを聞いて嘆き悲しみ，一人も飾りを身に着けなかった．

主がモ ― セに，「イスラエルの人¿に告げなさい．『あなたたちはかたくなな民である．わたしがひとときでも，あなたの間にあって上るならば，あなたを滅ぼしてしまうかもしれない．直ちに，身に着けている飾りを取り去りなさい．そうすれば，わたしはあなたをどのようにするか考えよう』」と言われたので，

And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:

And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.

And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.

イスラエルの人¿は，ホレブ山をたって後，飾りをはずした．

モ ― セは一つの天幕を取って，宿營の外の，宿營から遠く離れた所に張り，それを臨在の幕屋と名付けた．主に伺いを立てる者はだれでも，宿營の外にある臨在の幕屋に行くのであった．

モ ― セが幕屋に出て行くときには，民は全員起立し，自分の天幕の入り口に立って，モ ― セが幕屋に入ってしまうまで見送った．

モ ― セが幕屋に入ると，雲の柱が降りて來て幕屋の入り口に立ち，主はモ ― セと語られた．

雲の柱が幕屋の入り口に立つのを見ると，民は全員起立し，おのおの自分の天幕の入り口で禮拜した．

And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.

And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.

And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

主は人がその友と語るように，顔と顔を合わせてモ ― セに語られた．モ ― セは宿營に戾ったが，彼の從者である若者，ヌンの子ヨシュアは幕屋から離れなかった．

モ ― セは主に言った．「あなたはわたしに，『この民を率いて上れ』と言われました．しかし，わたしと共に遣わされる者をお示しになりません．あなたは，また，『わたしはあなたを名指しで選んだ．わたしはあなたに好意を示す』と言われました．

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

一體何によって，わたしとあなたの民に御好意を示してくださることが分かるでしょうか．あなたがわたしたちと共に行ってくださることによってではありませんか．そうすれば，わたしとあなたの民は，地上のすべての民と異なる特別なものとなるでしょう．」

主はモ ― セに言われた．「わたしは，あなたのこの願いもかなえよう．わたしはあなたに好意を示し，あなたを名指しで選んだからである．」

モ ― セが，「どうか，あなたの榮光をお示しください」と言うと，

主は言われた．「わたしはあなたの前にすべてのわたしの善い賜物を通らせ，あなたの前に主という名を宣言する．わたしは惠もうとする者を惠み，憐れもうとする者を憐れむ．」

また言われた．「あなたはわたしの顔を見ることはできない．人はわたしを見て，なお生きていることはできないからである．」

For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

更に，主は言われた．「見よ，一つの場所がわたしの傍らにある．あなたはその岩のそばに立ちなさい．

わが榮光が通り過ぎるとき，わたしはあなたをその岩の裂け目に入れ，わたしが通り過ぎるまで，わたしの手であなたを覆う．

わたしが手を離すとき，あなたはわたしの後ろを見るが，わたしの顔は見えない．」

And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
