- わたしの 口は 知惠を 語り ／わたしの 心は 英知を 思う．
- わたしは 格言に 耳を 傾け ／竪琴を 奏でて 謎を 解く．

- Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
- Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
- My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
- I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
- Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

- 災いのふりかかる 日 ／わたしを 追う 者の 惡意に 圍まれるときにも ／どうして 恐れることがあろうか
- 財寶を 賴みとし， 富の 力を 誇る 者を．
- 神に 對して， 人は 兄弟をも ·いえない． 神に 身代金を 拂うことはできない．
- 魂を ·う 値は 高く ／とこしえに， 拂い 終えることはない．
- 人は 永遠に 生きようか． 墓穴を 見ずにすむであろうか．

- They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
- None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
- (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
- That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
- For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

- 人が 見ることは ／知惠ある 者も 死に ／無知な 者， 愚かな 者と 共に 滅び ／財寶を 他人に 遺さねばならないということ．
- 自分の 名を 付けた 地所を 持っていても ／その 土の 底だけが 彼らのとこしえの 家 ／代¿に， 彼らが 住まう 所．

- Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
- Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
