- イエス は， 招待を 受けた 客が 上席を 選ぶ 樣子に 氣づいて， 彼らにたとえを 話された．
- 「婚宴に 招待されたら， 上席に 着いてはならない． あなたよりも 身分の 高い 人が 招かれており，
- あなたやその 人を 招いた 人が 來て， 『この 方に 席を 讓ってください 』と 言うかもしれない． そのとき， あなたは 恥をかいて 末席に 着くことになる．
- 招待を 受けたら， むしろ 末席に 行って 座りなさい． そうすると， あなたを 招いた 人が 來て， 『さあ， もっと 上席に 進んでください 』と 言うだろう． そのときは， 同席の 人みんなの 前で 面目を 施すことになる．
- だれでも 高ぶる 者は 低くされ， へりくだる 者は 高められる． 」

- And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
- When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
- And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
- But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
- For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

- また， イエス は 招いてくれた 人にも 言われた． 「¿食や 夕食の 會を 催すときには， 友人も， 兄弟も， 親類も， 近所の 金持ちも 呼んではならない． その 人たちも， あなたを 招いてお 返しをするかも 知れないからである．
- 宴會を 催すときには， むしろ， 貧しい 人， 體の 不自由な 人， 足の 不自由な 人， 目の 見えない 人を 招きなさい．
- そうすれば， その 人たちはお 返しができないから， あなたは 幸いだ． 正しい 者たちが 復活するとき， あなたは 報われる． 」
- 食事を 共にしていた 客の 一人は， これを 聞いて イエス に， 「神の 國で 食事をする 人は， なんと 幸いなことでしょう 」と 言った．
- そこで， イエス は 言われた． 「ある 人が 盛大な 宴會を 催そうとして， 大勢の 人を 招き，

- Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
- But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
- And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
- And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
- Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

- 宴會の 時刻になったので， 僕を 送り， 招いておいた 人¿に， 『もう 用意ができましたから， おいでください 』と 言わせた．
- すると 皆， 次¿に 斷った． 最初の 人は， 『畑を 買ったので， 見に 行かねばなりません． どうか， 失禮させてください 』と 言った．
- ほかの 人は， 『牛を 二頭ずつ 五組買ったので， それを 調べに 行くところです． どうか， 失禮させてください 』と 言った．
- また 別の 人は， 『妻を 迎えたばかりなので， 行くことができません 』と 言った．
- 僕は 歸って， このことを 主人に 報告した． すると， 家の 主人は 怒って， 僕に 言った． 『急いで 町の 廣場や 路地へ 出て 行き， 貧しい 人， 體の 不自由な 人， 目の 見えない 人， 足の 不自由な 人をここに 連れて 來なさい． 』

- And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
- And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
- So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

- やがて， 僕が， 『御主人樣， 仰せのとおりにいたしましたが， まだ 席があります 』と 言うと，
- 主人は 言った． 『通りや 小道に 出て 行き， 無理にでも 人¿を 連れて 來て， この 家をいっぱいにしてくれ．
- 言っておくが， あの 招かれた 人たちの 中で， わたしの 食事を 味わう 者は 一人もいない． 』」

- And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
- And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
- For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
