룻기

본서는 사사 시대를 배경으로 기록되었으나, 그 시대의 타락상과는 대조적으로 아름다운 이야기를 들려 주고 있다. 룻은 이방 모압 여인이었지만, 이스라엘의 왕인 다윗의 조상이 되는 영예를 누린다. 이것은 하나님의 나라에 참여하는 것이 혈연에 의한 것이 아니라, 오직 믿음으로 말미암은 순종을 통하여 결정된다는 것을 보여 준다.

젊은 과부 룻은 시어머니 나오미를 헌신적으로 봉양하며 시어머니가 섬기는 하나님을 믿는다. 이러한 룻에게 하나님께서는 새로운 남편 보아스를 주시고 그를 통해 아들 오벳을 얻게 하심으로써 다윗의 증조모가 되게 하신다.

	룻기 1:1-2:23 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 모압에 거하던 나오미는 남편과 두 아들이 죽자 고향으로 돌아갈 것을 결심하고 두 며느리 오르바와 룻에게 친정으로 갈 것을 권했다. 그러나 룻은 나오미를 따라 베들레헴으로 갔고, 그 곳에서 이삭을 줍던 룻은 근족인 보아스의 호의를 입게 되었다.

	나오미의 두 자부(1:1-1:22)

士師が世を治めていたころ，飢鴨が國を襲ったので，ある人が妻と二人の息子を連れて，ユダのベツレヘムからモアブの野に移り住んだ．

その人は名をエリメレク，妻はナオミ，二人の息子はマフロンとキルヨンといい，ユダのベツレヘム出身のエフラタ族の者であった．彼らはモアブの野に着き，そこに住んだ．

夫エリメレクは，ナオミと二人の息子を殘して死んだ．

息子たちはその後，モアブの女を妻とした．一人はオルパ，もう一人はルツといった．十年ほどそこに暮らしたが，

マフロンとキルヨンの二人も死に，ナオミは夫と二人の息子に先立たれ，一人殘された．

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.

And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.

And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.

ナオミは，モアブの野を去って國に歸ることにし，嫁たちも從った．主がその民を顧み，食べ物をお與えになったということを彼女はモアブの野で聞いたのである．

ナオミは住み慣れた場所を後にし，二人の嫁もついて行った．故國ユダに歸る道すがら，

ナオミは二人の嫁に言った．「自分の里に歸りなさい．あなたたちは死んだ息子にもわたしにもよく盡くしてくれた．どうか主がそれに報い，あなたたちに慈しみを垂れてくださいますように．

どうか主がそれぞれに新しい嫁ぎ先を與え，あなたたちが安らぎを得られますように．」ナオミが二人に別れの口づけをすると，二人は聲をあげて泣いて，

言った．「いいえ，御一緖にあなたの民のもとへ歸ります．」

Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.

The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.

And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

ナオミは言った．「わたしの娘たちよ，歸りなさい．どうしてついて來るのですか．あなたたちの夫になるような子供がわたしの胎內にまだいるとでも思っているのですか．

わたしの娘たちよ，歸りなさい．わたしはもう年をとって，再婚などできはしません．たとえ，まだ望みがあると考えて，今夜にでもだれかのもとに嫁ぎ，子供を産んだとしても，

その子たちが大きくなるまであなたたちは待つつもりですか．それまで嫁がずに過ごすつもりですか．わたしの娘たちよ，それはいけません．あなたたちよりもわたしの方がはるかにつらいのです．主の御手がわたしに下されたのですから．」

二人はまた聲をあげて泣いた．オルパはやがて，しゅうとめに別れの口づけをしたが，ルツはすがりついて離れなかった．

ナオミは言った．「あのとおり，あなたの相嫁は自分の民，自分の神のもとへ歸って行こうとしている．あなたも後を追って行きなさい．」

And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;

Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.

ルツは言った．「あなたを見捨て，あなたに背を向けて歸れなどと，そんなひどいことを强いないでください．わたしは，あなたの行かれる所に行き／お泊まりになる所に泊まります．あなたの民はわたしの民／あなたの神はわたしの神．

あなたの亡くなる所でわたしも死に／そこに葬られたいのです．死んでお別れするのならともかく，そのほかのことであなたを離れるようなことをしたなら，主よ，どうかわたしを幾重にも罰してください．」

同行の決意が固いのを見て，ナオミはルツを說き伏せることをやめた．

二人は旅を續け，ついにベツレヘムに着いた．ベツレヘムに着いてみると，町中が二人のことでどよめき，女たちが，ナオミさんではありませんかと聲をかけてくると，

ナオミは言った．「どうか，ナオミ（快い）などと呼ばないで，マラ（苦い）と呼んでください．全能者がわたしをひどい目に遭わせたのです．

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

出て行くときは，滿たされていたわたしを／主はうつろにして歸らせたのです．なぜ，快い（ナオミ）などと呼ぶのですか．主がわたしを惱ませ／全能者がわたしを不幸に落とされたのに．」

ナオミはこうして，モアブ生まれの嫁ルツを連れてモアブの野を去り，歸って來た．二人がベツレヘムに着いたのは，大麥の刈り入れの始まるころであった．

I went out full and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.

	룻과 보아스의 대면(2:1-2:23)

ナオミの夫エリメレクの一族には一人の有力な親戚がいて，その名をボアズといった．

モアブの女ルツがナオミに，「畑に行ってみます．だれか厚意を示してくださる方の後ろで，落ち穗を拾わせてもらいます」と言うと，ナオミは，「わたしの娘よ，行っておいで」と言った．

ルツは出かけて行き，刈り入れをする農夫たちの後について畑で落ち穗を拾ったが，そこはたまたまエリメレクの一族のボアズが所有する畑地であった．

ボアズがベツレヘムからやって來て，農夫たちに，「主があなたたちと共におられますように」と言うと，彼らも，「主があなたを祝福してくださいますように」と言った．

ボアズが農夫を監督している召し使いの一人に，そこの若い女は誰の娘かと聞いた．

And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

召し使いは答えた．「あの人は，モアブの野からナオミと一緖に戾ったモアブの娘です．

『刈り入れをする人たちの後について麥束の間で落ち穗を拾い集めさせてください』と願い出て，朝から今までずっと立ち通しで ¿いておりましたが，今，小屋で一息入れているところです．」

ボアズはルツに言った．「わたしの娘よ，よく聞きなさい．よその畑に落ち穗を拾いに行くことはない．ここから離れることなく，わたしのところの女たちと一緖にここにいなさい．

刈り入れをする畑を確かめておいて，女たちについて行きなさい．若い者には邪魔をしないように命じておこう．喉が渴いたら，水がめの所へ行って，若い者がくんでおいた水を飮みなさい．」

ルツは，顔を地につけ，ひれ伏して言った．「よそ者のわたしにこれほど目をかけてくださるとは．厚意を示してくださるのは，なぜですか．」

And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:

And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

ボアズは答えた．「主人が亡くなった後も，しゅうとめに盡くしたこと，兩親と生まれ故鄕を捨てて，全く見も知らぬ國に來たことなど，何もかも傳え聞いていました．

どうか，主があなたの行いに豊かに報いてくださるように．イスラエルの神，主がその御翼のもとに逃れて來たあなたに十分に報いてくださるように．」

ルツは言った．「わたしの主よ．どうぞこれからも厚意を示してくださいますように．あなたのはしための一人にも及ばぬこのわたしですのに，心に觸れる言葉をかけていただいて，本當に慰められました．」

食事のとき，ボアズはルツに聲をかけた．「こちらに來て，パンを少し食べなさい，一切れずつ酢に浸して．」ルツが刈り入れをする農夫たちのそばに腰を下ろすと，ボアズは ·り麥をつかんで與えた．ルツは食べ，飽き足りて殘すほどであった．

ルツが腰を上げ，再び落ち穗を拾い始めようとすると，ボアズは若者に命じた．「麥� ゥの間でもあの娘には拾わせるがよい．止めてはならぬ．

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

それだけでなく，刈り取った束から穗を拔いて落としておくのだ．あの娘がそれを拾うのをとがめてはならぬ．」

ルツはこうして日が暮れるまで畑で落ち穗を拾い集めた．集めた穗を打って取れた大麥は一エファほどにもなった．

それを背負って町に歸ると，しゅうとめは嫁が拾い集めてきたものに目をみはった．ルツは飽き足りて殘した食べ物も差し出した．

しゅうとめがルツに，「今日は一體どこで落ち穗を拾い集めたのですか．どこで ¿いてきたのですか．あなたに目をかけてくださった方に祝福がありますように」と言うと，ルツは，誰のところで ¿いたかをしゅうとめに報告して言った．「今日¿かせてくださった方は名をボアズと言っておられました．」

ナオミは嫁に言った．「どうか，生きている人にも死んだ人にも慈しみを惜しまれない主が，その人を祝福してくださるように．」ナオミは更に續けた．「その人はわたしたちと緣續きの人です．わたしたちの家を絶やさないようにする責任のある人の一人です．」

And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.

So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.

And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

モアブの女ルツは言った．「その方はわたしに，『うちの刈り入れが全部濟むまで，うちの若者から決して離れないでいなさい』と言ってくださいました．」

ナオミは嫁ルツに答えた．「わたしの娘よ，すばらしいことです．あそこで ¿く女たちと一緖に畑に行けるとは．よその畑で，だれかからひどい目に遭わされることもないし．」

ルツはこうして，大麥と小麥の刈り入れが終わるまで，ボアズのところで ¿く女たちから離れることなく落ち穗を拾った．

And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
