- イエス は， 自ら 十字架を 背負い， いわゆる「されこうべの 場所 」， すなわち ヘブライ 語で ゴルゴタ という 所へ 向かわれた．
- そこで， 彼らは イエス を 十字架につけた． また， イエス と 一緖にほかの 二人をも， イエス を 眞ん 中にして 兩側に， 十字架につけた．
- ピラト は 罪狀書きを 書いて， 十字架の 上に 掛けた． それには， 「ナザレ の イエス ， ユダヤ 人の 王 」と 書いてあった．
- イエス が 十字架につけられた 場所は 都に 近かったので， 多くの ユダヤ 人がその 罪狀書きを 讀んだ． それは， ヘブライ 語， ラテン 語， ギリシア 語で 書かれていた．
- ユダヤ 人の 祭司長たちが ピラト に， 「『ユダヤ 人の 王 』と 書かず， 『この 男は「ユダヤ 人の 王 」と 自稱した 』と 書いてください 」と 言った．

- And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
- Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
- And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
- This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
- Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

- しかし， ピラト は， 「わたしが 書いたものは， 書いたままにしておけ 」と 答えた．
- 兵士たちは， イエス を 十字架につけてから， その 服を 取り， 四つに 分け， 各自に 一つずつ 渡るようにした． 下着も 取ってみたが， それには 縫い 目がなく， 上から 下まで 一枚織りであった．
- そこで， 「これは 裂かないで， だれのものになるか， くじ 引きで 決めよう 」と 話し 合った． それは， ／「彼らはわたしの 服を 分け 合い， ／わたしの 衣服のことでくじを 引いた 」という 聖書の 言葉が 實現するためであった． 兵士たちはこのとおりにしたのである．
- イエス の 十字架のそばには， その 母と 母の 姉妹， クロパ の 妻 マリア と マグダラ の マリア とが 立っていた．
- イエス は， 母とそのそばにいる 愛する 弟子とを 見て， 母に， 「婦人よ， 御覽なさい． あなたの 子です 」と 言われた．

- Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
- Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
- They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
- Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
- When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

- それから 弟子に 言われた． 「見なさい． あなたの 母です． 」そのときから， この 弟子は イエス の 母を 自分の 家に 引き 取った．
- この 後， イエス は， すべてのことが 今や 成し 遂げられたのを 知り， 「渴く 」と 言われた． こうして， 聖書の 言葉が 實現した．
- そこには， 酸いぶどう 酒を 滿たした 器が 置いてあった． 人¿は， このぶどう 酒をいっぱい 含ませた 海綿を ヒソプ に 付け， イエス の 口もとに 差し 出した．
- イエス は， このぶどう 酒を 受けると， 「成し 遂げられた 」と 言い， 頭を 垂れて 息を 引き 取られた．
- その 日は 準備の 日で， 翌日は 特別の 安息日であったので， ユダヤ 人たちは， 安息日に 遺體を 十字架の 上に 殘しておかないために， 足を 折って 取り 降ろすように， ピラト に 願い 出た．

- Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
- After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
- Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
- When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
- The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

- そこで， 兵士たちが 來て， イエス と 一緖に 十字架につけられた 最初の 男と， もう 一人の 男との 足を 折った．
- イエス のところに 來てみると， 旣に 死んでおられたので， その 足は 折らなかった．
- しかし， 兵士の 一人が 槍で イエス のわき 腹を 刺した． すると， すぐ 血と 水とが 流れ 出た．
- それを 目擊した 者が 證ししており， その 證しは 眞實である． その 者は， あなたがたにも 信じさせるために， 自分が 眞實を 語っていることを 知っている．
- これらのことが 起こったのは， 「その 骨は 一つも ¿かれない 」という 聖書の 言葉が 實現するためであった．

- Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
- But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
- But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
- And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
- For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

- また， 聖書の 別の 所に， 「彼らは， 自分たちの 突き 刺した 者を 見る 」とも 書いてある．
- その 後， イエス の 弟子でありながら， ユダヤ 人たちを 恐れて， そのことを 隱していた アリマタヤ 出身の ヨセフ が， イエス の 遺體を 取り 降ろしたいと， ピラト に 願い 出た． ピラト が 許したので， ヨセフ は 行って 遺體を 取り 降ろした．
- そこへ， かつてある 夜， イエス のもとに 來たことのある ニコデモ も， ¿藥と 沈香を 混ぜた 物を 百 リトラ ばかり 持って 來た．
- 彼らは イエス の 遺體を 受け 取り， ユダヤ 人の 埋葬の 習慣に 從い， 香料を 添えて 亞麻布で 包んだ．
- イエス が 十字架につけられた 所には 園があり， そこには， だれもまだ 葬られたことのない 新しい 墓があった．

- And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
- And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
- And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
- Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
- Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

- その 日は ユダヤ 人の 準備の 日であり， この 墓が 近かったので， そこに イエス を 納めた．

- There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
