- わたしたちは， 祈りの 場所に 行く 途中， 占いの 靈に 取りつかれている 女奴隷に 出會った． この 女は， 占いをして 主人たちに 多くの 利益を 得させていた．
- 彼女は， パウロ やわたしたちの 後ろについて 來てこう 叫ぶのであった． 「この 人たちは， いと 高き 神の 僕で， 皆さんに 救いの 道を 宣べ 傳えているのです． 」
- 彼女がこんなことを 幾日も 繰り 返すので， パウロ はたまりかねて 振り 向き， その 靈に 言った． 「イエス · キリスト の 名によって 命じる． この 女から 出て 行け． 」すると 卽座に， 靈が 彼女から 出て 行った．
- ところが， この 女の 主人たちは， 金もうけの 望みがなくなってしまったことを 知り， パウロ と シラス を 捕らえ， 役人に 引き 渡すために 廣場へ 引き 立てて 行った．
- そして， 二人を 高官たちに 引き 渡してこう 言った． 「この 者たちは ユダヤ 人で， わたしたちの 町を 混亂させております．

- And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
- The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
- And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
- And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
- And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

- ロ ― マ 帝國の 市民であるわたしたちが 受け 入れることも， 實行することも 許されない 風習を 宣傳しております． 」
- 群衆も 一緖になって 二人を 責め 立てたので， 高官たちは 二人の 衣服をはぎ 取り， 「鞭で 打て 」と 命じた．
- そして， 何度も 鞭で 打ってから 二人を 牢に 投げ ¿み， 看守に 嚴重に 見張るように 命じた．
- この 命令を 受けた 看守は， 二人をいちばん 奧の 牢に 入れて， 足には 木の 足枷をはめておいた．
- 眞夜中ごろ， パウロ と シラス が 贊美の 歌をうたって 神に 祈っていると， ほかの 囚人たちはこれに 聞き 入っていた．

- And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
- And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
- And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
- Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
- And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

- 突然， 大地震が 起こり， 牢の 土台が ¿れ 動いた． たちまち 牢の 戶がみな 開き， すべての 囚人の 鎖も 外れてしまった．
- 目を 覺ました 看守は， 牢の 戶が 開いているのを 見て， 囚人たちが 逃げてしまったと 思い ¿み， 劍を 拔いて 自殺しようとした．
- パウロ は 大聲で 叫んだ． 「自害してはいけない． わたしたちは 皆ここにいる． 」
- 看守は， 明かりを 持って 來させて 牢の 中に 飛び ¿み， パウロ と シラス の 前に 震えながらひれ 伏し，
- 二人を 外へ 連れ 出して 言った． 「先生方， 救われるためにはどうすべきでしょうか． 」

- And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
- And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
- But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
- Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
- And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

- 二人は 言った． 「主 イエス を 信じなさい． そうすれば， あなたも 家族も 救われます． 」
- そして， 看守とその 家の 人たち 全部に 主の 言葉を 語った．
- まだ 眞夜中であったが， 看守は 二人を 連れて 行って 打ち 傷を 洗ってやり， 自分も 家族の 者も 皆すぐに 洗禮を 受けた．
- この 後， 二人を 自分の 家に 案內して 食事を 出し， 神を 信じる 者になったことを 家族ともども 喜んだ．
- 朝になると， 高官たちは 下役たちを 差し 向けて， 「あの 者どもを 釋放せよ 」と 言わせた．

- And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
- And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
- And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
- And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
- And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.

- それで， 看守は パウロ にこの 言葉を 傳えた． 「高官たちが， あなたがたを 釋放するようにと， 言ってよこしました． さあ， 牢から 出て， 安心して 行きなさい． 」
- ところが， パウロ は 下役たちに 言った． 「高官たちは， ロ ― マ 帝國の 市民權を 持つわたしたちを， 裁判にもかけずに 公衆の 面前で 鞭打ってから 投獄したのに， 今ひそかに 釋放しようとするのか． いや， それはいけない． 高官たちが 自分でここへ 來て， わたしたちを 連れ 出すべきだ． 」
- 下役たちは， この 言葉を 高官たちに 報告した． 高官たちは， 二人が ロ ― マ 帝國の 市民權を 持つ 者であると 聞いて 恐れ，
- 出向いて 來てわびを 言い， 二人を 牢から 連れ 出し， 町から 出て 行くように 賴んだ．
- 牢を 出た 二人は， リディア の 家に 行って 兄弟たちに 會い， 彼らを 勵ましてから 出發した．

- And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
- But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
- And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.
- And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
- And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
