- その 後， パウロ は アテネ を 去って コリント へ 行った．
- ここで， ポントス 州出身の アキラ という ユダヤ 人とその 妻 プリスキラ に 出會った． クラウディウス 帝が 全 ユダヤ 人を ロ ― マ から 退去させるようにと 命令したので， 最近 イタリア から 來たのである． パウロ はこの 二人を 訪ね，
- 職業が 同じであったので， 彼らの 家に 住み ¿んで， 一緖に 仕事をした． その 職業は テント 造りであった．
- パウロ は 安息日ごとに 會堂で 論じ， ユダヤ 人や ギリシア 人の 說得に 努めていた．
- シラス と テモテ が マケドニア 州からやって 來ると， パウロ は 御言葉を 語ることに 專念し， ユダヤ 人に 對して メシア は イエス であると 力强く 證しした．

- After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
- And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
- And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
- And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
- And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

- しかし， 彼らが 反抗し， 口汚くののしったので， パウロ は 服の 塵を 振り 拂って 言った． 「あなたたちの 血は， あなたたちの 頭に 降りかかれ． わたしには 責任がない． 今後， わたしは 異邦人の 方へ 行く． 」
- パウロ はそこを 去り， 神をあがめる ティティオ · ユスト という 人の 家に 移った． 彼の 家は 會堂の 隣にあった．
- 會堂長の クリスポ は， 一家をあげて 主を 信じるようになった． また， コリント の 多くの 人¿も， パウロ の 言葉を 聞いて 信じ， 洗禮を 受けた．
- ある 夜のこと， 主は 幻の 中で パウロ にこう 言われた． 「恐れるな． 語り 續けよ． 默っているな．
- わたしがあなたと 共にいる． だから， あなたを 襲って 危害を 加える 者はない． この 町には， わたしの 民が 大勢いるからだ． 」

- And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
- And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
- And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
- Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
- For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

- パウロ は 一年六か 月の 間ここにとどまって， 人¿に 神の 言葉を 敎えた．
- ガリオン が アカイア 州の 地方總督であったときのことである． ユダヤ 人たちが 一團となって パウロ を 襲い， 法廷に 引き 立てて 行って，
- 「この 男は， 律法に 違反するようなしかたで 神をあがめるようにと， 人¿を 唆しております 」と 言った．
- パウロ が 話し 始めようとしたとき， ガリオン は ユダヤ 人に 向かって 言った． 「ユダヤ 人諸君， これが 不正な 行爲とか 惡質な 犯罪とかであるならば， 當然諸君の 訴えを 受理するが，
- 問題が 敎えとか 名稱とか 諸君の 律法に 關するものならば， 自分たちで 解決するがよい． わたしは， そんなことの 審判者になるつもりはない． 」

- And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
- And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
- Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.
- And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
- But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

- そして， 彼らを 法廷から 追い 出した．
- すると， 群衆は 會堂長の ソステネ を 捕まえて， 法廷の 前で 毆りつけた． しかし， ガリオン はそれに 全く 心を 留めなかった．

- And he drave them from the judgment seat.
- Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
