	열왕기하 10:18-12:21 예후는 정치적 숙청에 이어 바알 숭배자들을 몰살하는 종교 개혁을 단행하였다. 한편 남유다에서는 아하시야가 살해되자 아달랴가 왕위 찬탈 음모를 펼쳐 갔다. 그러나 이러한 와중에서 구사 일생으로 목숨을 건진 요아스는 여호야다의 도움으로 왕위를 회복하여 바알 숭배를 척결하고 성전을 수리하는 등 선정을 해나갔다. 그러나 그는 말년에 하사엘의 침입시 성전 보물을 조공으로 바치는 불신앙적 모습을 보임으로써 신하들의 칼에 맞아 죽는 심판을 받았다.

	예후의 종교 개혁(10:18-10:36)

イエフはすべての民を集めて言った．「アハブは少ししかバアルに仕えなかったが，このイエフは大いにバアルに仕えるつもりだ．

今バアルのすべての預言者，バアルに仕えるすべての者，すべての祭司をわたしのもとに呼べ．一人も欠席させてはならない．わたしがバアルに大いなるいけにえをささげるからだ．欠席する者はだれも生かしてはおかない．」イエフはバアルに仕える者を絶やすために，策略を用いたのである．

イエフが，「バアルのために聖なる集まりを催せ」と命じたので，彼らはそれを布告した．

イエフがイスラエル中に使者を遣わすと，バアルに仕える者が皆集まって來た．來ない者は一人もなかった．彼らはバアルの神殿に入り，神殿は隅¿まで滿ちた．

イエフは衣裝係に，「バアルに仕えるすべての者に祭服を出してやれ」と言った．彼らは祭服を出した．

And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.

And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.

そこでイエフはレカブ人ヨナダブと共にバアルの神殿に入り，バアルに仕える者たちに言った．「主に仕える者があなたたちと一緖にいることがないよう，ただバアルに仕える者だけがいるように，よく調べて見よ．」

二人はいけにえと燒き盡くす獻げ物をささげるために入ったが，イエフは外に八十人の人を置き，次のように言った．「わたしがお前たちの手に渡す者を逃がした者は，自分の命をその逃がした者の命に代えなければならない．」

燒き盡くす獻げ物をささげ終わったとき，イエフは近衛兵と侍從たちに言った．「入って，彼らを討て．一人も外に出すな．」近衛兵と侍從たちは彼らを劍にかけて殺し，そこに投げ捨て，更にバアルの神殿の奧まで踏み ¿み，

バアルの神殿にある石柱を運び出して燒き捨てた．

バアルの石柱を破壞してから，バアルの神殿を破壞し，これを便所にした．それは今日に至るまでそうなっている．

And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.

And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.

And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.

このようにして，イエフはイスラエルからバアルを滅ぼし去った．

ただ，イスラエルに罪を犯させたネバトの子ヤロブアムの罪からは離れず，ベテルとダンにある金の子牛を退けなかった．

主はイエフに言われた．「あなたはわたしの目にかなう正しいことをよく成し遂げ，わたしの心にあった事をことごとくアハブの家に對して行った．それゆえあなたの子孫は四代にわたってイスラエルの王座につく．」

しかしイエフは，心を盡くしてイスラエルの神，主の律法に從って步もうと努めず，イスラエルに罪を犯させたヤロブアムの罪を離れなかった．

このころから，主はイスラエルを衰退に向かわせられた．ハザエルがイスラエルをその領土の至るところで侵略したのである．

Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.

But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;

侵略はヨルダン川の東側にあるギレアドの全域，ガド，ルベン，マナセの地で行われ，アルノン川の近くにあるアロエルから，ギレアドとバシャンにまで及んだ．

Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.

And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.

	아달랴의 섭정(11:1-11:21)

アハズヤの母アタルヤは息子が死んだのを見て，直ちに王族をすべて滅ぼそうとした．

しかし，ヨラム王の娘で，アハズヤの姉妹であるヨシェバが，アハズヤの子ヨアシュを抱き，殺されようとしている王子たちの中からひそかに連れ出し，乳母と共に寢具の部屋に入れておいた．人¿はヨアシュをアタルヤからかくまい，彼は殺されずに濟んだ．

こうして，アタルヤが國を支配していた六年の間，ヨアシュは乳母と共に主の神殿に隱れていた．

七年目に，ヨヤダは人を遣わして，カリ人と近衛兵からなる百人隊の長たちを神殿にいる自分のところに連れて來させ，彼らと契約を結んだ．彼は主の神殿の中で彼らに誓いを立てさせ，王子を見せて，

And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king's son.

And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house;

ほかの三分の一はスルの門に詰め，殘る三分の一は近衛兵の背後の門に詰め，こうしてあなたたちは交代で王宮の警備に當たれ．

安息日が非番に當たるほかの二組は主の神殿で王のそばにいて警備に當たれ．

おのおの武器を手にして，王の周圍を固めなければならない．隊列を侵す者は殺されなければならない．王が出るときも，入るときも，王と行動を共にせよ．」

百人隊の長たちは，すべて祭司ヨヤダが命じたとおり行い，おのおの安息日が出番に當たる部下と非番に當たる部下を引き連れ，祭司ヨヤダのもとに來た．

祭司は主の神殿に納められているダビデ王の槍と小盾を百人隊の長たちに渡した．

And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.

近衛兵たちはおのおの武器を手にして，祭壇と神殿を中心に神殿の南の端から北の端まで王の周圍を固めた．

そこでヨヤダが王子を連れて現れ，彼に冠をかぶらせ， ¿の書を渡した．人¿はこの王子を王とし，油を注ぎ，拍手して，「王万歲」と叫んだ．

アタルヤは近衛兵と民の聲を聞き，主の神殿の民のところに行った．

彼女が見ると，慣例どおり柱の傍らに王が立ち，その傍らには將軍たちと吹奏隊が立ち ¿び，また國の民は皆喜び祝い，ラッパを吹き鳴らしていた．アタルヤは衣を裂いて，「謀反，謀反」と叫んだ．

And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.

And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

彼らはアタルヤを捕らえ，馬の出入り口を通って王宮に連れて行った．彼女はそこで殺された．

ヨヤダは，主と王と民の間に，主の民となる契約を結び，王と民の間でも契約を結んだ．

國の民は皆，バアルの神殿に行き，それを祭壇と共に破壞し，像を徹底的に打ち ¿き，バアルの祭司マタンを祭壇の前で殺した．祭司ヨヤダは主の神殿の監督を定め，

こうして，國の民は皆喜び祝った．アタルヤが王宮で劍にかけられて殺された後，町は平穩であった．

And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king's house: and there was she slain.

And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.

And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.

And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.

Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.

	요아스의 유다 통치(12:1-12:21)

ヨアシュは王位についたとき，七歲であった．

イエフの治世第七年にヨアシュは王となり，四十年間エルサレムで王位にあった．その母は名をツィブヤといい，ベエル · シェバの出身であった．

ヨアシュは，祭司ヨヤダの敎えを受けて，その生涯を通じて主の目にかなう正しいことを行った．

ただ聖なる高台は取り除かれず，民は依然として聖なる高台でいけにえを屠り，香をたいた．

ヨアシュは祭司たちに言った．「主の神殿にもたらされるすべての聖なる獻金，すなわち，各人がその割り當てに從って課された獻金，主の神殿に自發的にもたらされるすべての獻金は，

In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

祭司たちがおのおの自分の擔當の者から受け取り，神殿のどこかに破損が生じたときには，それを用いてその破損を修理しなければならない．」

だが，ヨアシュ王の治世第二十三年になっても，なお祭司たちは神殿の破損を修理しなかったので，

ヨアシュ王は祭司ヨヤダおよびほかの祭司たちを呼んで言った．「なぜ神殿の破損を修理しないのか．以後あなたたちはあなたたちの擔當の者から獻金を受け取ってはならない．それは神殿の破損を修理するために使われるべきものだからだ．」

祭司たちは民から獻金を受け取らず，從って神殿の破損を修理する責任を負わないことに同意した．

祭司ヨヤダは一つの箱を持って來て，その蓋に穴をあけ，主の神殿の入り口の右側，祭壇の傍らにそれを置いた．入り口を守る祭司たちは，主の神殿にもたらされるすべての獻金をそこに入れた．

But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.

And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

箱の中に獻金がたまったのが認められると，王の書記官と大祭司が上って來て，主の神殿にあるその獻金を袋に入れて數えた．

こうして確かめられた獻金は，主の神殿の役人である工事擔當者に渡され，主の神殿で ¿く大工，建築勞¿者，

石工，採石勞¿者たちに支拂われ，また神殿の破損を修理するための木材や切り石の買い入れに用いられた．すなわち，それは神殿を修理するためのあらゆる出費に當てられた．

しかし，神殿用の銀の皿，芯切り員，鉢，ラッパなど，金の器と銀の器はいずれも，この神殿への獻金では製作されなかった．

その獻金は工事擔當者に渡され，主の神殿の修理のために用いられた．

And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:

But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

工事擔當者に與えるように獻金を渡された人¿は忠實に仕事をする者であったので，會計監査を受けることはなかった．

賠償の獻げ物のための獻金， ·罪の獻げ物のための獻金は，主の神殿に納入されず，祭司たちのものとなった．

そのころ，アラムの王ハザエルが上って來てガトを攻略し，更にエルサレムに向かって攻め上って來た．

ユダの王ヨアシュは，先祖であるユダの王ヨシャファト，ヨラム，アハズヤが聖別したすべての聖なる物，自分自身が聖別した物，および主の神殿の寶物庫と王宮にあるすべての金を取り出し，アラムの王ハザエルに送ったので，ハザエルはエルサレムを離れて行った．

ヨアシュの他の事績，彼の行ったすべての事は，『ユダの王の歷代誌』に記されている．

The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

その家臣たちは立ち上がって謀反を起こし，シラに下って行くヨアシュをベト · ミロで打ち殺した．

For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
