	열왕기하 18:13-19:37 북이스라엘을 정복한 앗수르의 산헤립은 여세를 몰아 남유다를 침공하여 유다 백성들을 조롱하며 이스라엘의 하나님을 모독하였다. 위기에 봉착한 히스기야는 이스라엘의 구원을 위해 먼저 하나님의 전을 찾고, 이사야에게 기도를 부탁했다. 이사야는 하나님의 응답으로 앗수르의 심판과 유다의 회복을 예언하였고, 그 예언대로 앗수르 군은 파멸되고 산헤립은 죽음을 당했다.

	앗수르의 유다 침공(18:13-18:37)

ヒゼキヤ王の治世第十四年に，アッシリアの王センナケリブが攻め上り，ユダの砦の町をことごとく占領した．

ユダの王ヒゼキヤは，ラキシュにいるアッシリアの王に人を遣わし，「わたしは過ちを犯しました．どうかわたしのところから引き揚げてください．わたしは何を課せられても，御意向に沿う覺悟をしています」と言わせた．アッシリアの王はユダの王ヒゼキヤに銀三百キカルと金三十キカルを課した．

ヒゼキヤは主の神殿と王宮の寶物庫にあったすべての銀を贈った．

またこのときユダの王であるヒゼキヤは，自分が金で覆った主の神殿の扉と柱を切り取り，アッシリアの王に贈った．

アッシリアの王は，ラキシュからタルタン，ラブ · サリスおよびラブ · シャケを大軍と共にヒゼキヤ王のいるエルサレムに遣わした．彼らはエルサレムに上って來た．彼らは上って來て，布さらしの野に至る大通りに沿って上の貯水池から來る水路の傍らに立ち止まった．

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

彼らは王に呼びかけると，ヒルキヤの子である宮廷長エルヤキム，書記官シェブナ，アサフの子である補佐官ヨアが彼らの前に出て行った．

そこでラブ · シャケは彼らに言った．「ヒゼキヤに傳えよ．大王，アッシリアの王はこう言われる．なぜこんな賴りないものに賴っているのか．

ただ舌先だけの言葉が戰略であり戰力であると言うのか．今お前は誰を賴みにしてわたしに刃向かうのか．

今お前はエジプトというあの折れかけの葦の杖を賴みにしているが，それはだれでも寄りかかる者の手を刺し貫くだけだ．エジプトの王ファラオは自分を賴みとするすべての者にとってそのようになる．

お前たちは，『我¿は我¿の神，主に依り賴む』と言っているが，ヒゼキヤはユダとエルサレムに向かい，『エルサレムにあるこの祭壇の前で禮拜せよ』と言って，その主の聖なる高台と祭壇を取り除いたのではなかったか．

And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

今わが主君，アッシリアの王とかけをせよ．もしお前の方でそれだけの乘り手を準備できるなら，こちらから二千頭の馬を與えよう．

戰車について，騎兵についてエジプトなどを賴みにしているお前に，どうしてわが主君の家臣のうちの最も小さい總督の一人すら追い返すことができようか．

わたしは今，主とかかわりなくこの所を滅ぼしに來たのだろうか．主がわたしに，『この地に向かって攻め上り，これを滅ぼせ』とお命じになったのだ．」

ヒルキヤの子エルヤキムとシェブナとヨアは，ラブ · シャケに願った．「僕どもはアラム語が分かります．どうぞアラム語でお話しください．城壁の上にいる民が聞いているところで，わたしどもにユダの言葉で話さないでください．」

だがラブ · シャケは彼らに言った．「わが主君がこれらのことを告げるためにわたしを遣わしたのは，お前の主君やお前のためだけだとでもいうのか．城壁の上に座っている者たちのためにも遣わしたのではないか．彼らもお前たちと共に自分の糞尿を飮み食いするようになるのだから．」

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

ラブ · シャケは立ってユダの言葉で大聲で呼ばわり，こう言い放った．「大王，アッシリアの王の言葉を聞け．

王はこう言われる．『ヒゼキヤにだまされるな．彼はお前たちをわたしの手から救い出すことはできない．

ヒゼキヤはお前たちに，主が必ず我¿を救い出してくださる，決してこの都がアッシリアの王の手に渡されることはない，と言って，主に依り賴ませようとするが，そうさせてはならない．』

ヒゼキヤの言うことを聞くな．アッシリアの王がこう言われるからだ．『わたしと和を結び，降伏せよ．そうすればお前たちは皆，自分のぶどうといちじくの實を食べ，自分の井戶の水を飮むことができる．

やがてわたしは來て，お멟たちをお前たちの地と同じような地，穀物と新しいぶどう酒の地，パンとぶどう畑の地，オリ ― ブと新鮮な油と蜜の地に連れて行く．こうしてお前たちは命を得，死なずに濟む』と．ヒゼキヤの言うことを聞くな．彼は，主は我¿を救い出してくださる，と言って，お前たちを惑わしているのだ．

Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

諸國の神¿は，それぞれ自分の地をアッシリア王の手から救い出すことができたであろうか．

ハマトやアルパドの神¿はどこに行ったのか．セファルワイムやヘナやイワの神¿はどこに行ったのか．サマリアをわたしの手から救い出した神があっただろうか．

國¿のすべての神¿のうち，どの神が自分の國をわたしの手から救い出したか．それでも主はエルサレムをわたしの手から救い出すと言うのか．」

しかし民は，答えてはならないと王に戒められていたので，押し默ってひと言も答えなかった．

ヒルキヤの子である宮廷長エルヤキム，書記官シェブナ，アサフの子である補佐官ヨアは衣を裂き，ヒゼキヤのもとに來てラブ · シャケの言葉を傳えた．

Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

	이사야의 예언(19:1-19:37)

ヒゼキヤ王はこれを聞くと衣を裂き，粗布を身にまとって主の神殿に行った．

また彼は宮廷長エルヤキム，書記官シェブナ，および祭司の長老たちに粗布をまとわせ，預言者，アモツの子イザヤのもとに遣わした．

彼らはイザヤに言った．「ヒゼキヤはこう言われる．『今日は苦しみと，懲らしめと，辱めの日，胎兒は産道に達したが，これを産み出す力がない．

生ける神をののしるために，その主君，アッシリアの王によって遣わされて來たラブ · シャケのすべての言葉を，あなたの神，主は恐らく聞かれたことであろう．あなたの神，主はお聞きになったその言葉をとがめられるであろうが，ここに殘っている者のために祈ってほしい．』」

ヒゼキヤ王の家臣たちがイザヤのもとに來ると，

And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.

So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

イザヤは言った．「あなたたちの主君にこう言いなさい．『主なる神はこう言われる．あなたは，アッシリアの王の從者たちがわたしを冒瀆する言葉を聞いても，恐れてはならない．

見よ，わたしは彼の中に靈を送り，彼がうわさを聞いて自分の地に引き返すようにする．彼はその地で劍にかけられて倒される．』」

ラブ · シャケは，王がラキシュをたったということを聞いて引き返し，リブナを攻擊しているアッシリアの王と落ち合った．

王はそこでクシュの王ティルハカについて，「あなたと戰いを交えようと軍を進めている」との知らせを受けた．彼は再びヒゼキヤに使者を遣わして言わせた．

「ユダの王ヒゼキヤにこう言え．お前が依り賴んでいる神にだまされ，エルサレムはアッシリアの王の手に渡されることはないと思ってはならない．

And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,

Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

お前はアッシリアの王たちが，すべての國¿を滅ぼし去るために行ったことを聞いているであろう．それでも，お前だけが救い出されると言うのか．

わたしの先祖たちはゴザン，ハラン，レツェフおよびテラサルにいたエデンの人¿を打ち滅ぼしたが，これらの諸國の神¿は彼らを救いえたであろうか．

ハマトの王，アルパドの王，セファルワイムの町の王，ヘナやイワの王はどこに行ったのか．」

ヒゼキヤはこの手紙を使者の手から受け取って讀むと，主の神殿に上って行った．ヒゼキヤはそれを主の前に廣げ，

主の前で祈った．「ケルビムの上に座しておられるイスラエルの神，主よ．あなただけが地上のすべての王國の神であり，あなたこそ天と地をお造りになった方です．

Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?

Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?

And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

主よ，耳を傾けて聞いてください．主よ，目を開いて御覽ください．生ける神をののしるために人を遣わしてきたセンナケリブの言葉を聞いてください．

主よ，確かにアッシリアの王たちは諸國とその國土を荒らし，

その神¿を火に投げ ¿みましたが，それらは神ではなく，木や石であって，人間が手で造ったものにすぎません．彼らはこれを滅ぼしてしまいました．

わたしたちの神，主よ，どうか今わたしたちを彼の手から救い，地上のすべての王國が，あなただけが主なる神であることを知るに至らせてください．」

アモツの子イザヤは，ヒゼキヤに人を遣わして言った．「イスラエルの神，主はこう言われる．『アッシリアの王センナケリブのことであなたがわたしにささげた祈りをわたしは聞いた．』

LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,

And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

主がアッシリアの王に向かって告げられた言葉はこうである．おとめである，娘シオンは／お前を辱め，お前を嘲る．娘エルサレムは／お前に背を向け，頭を振る．

お前は誰をののしり，侮ったのか．誰に向かって大聲をあげ／高慢な目つきをしたのか．イスラエルの聖なる方に向かってではなかったか．

お前は使者を送って／主をののしって言った．『わたしは多くの戰車を率いて／山¿の高みに驅け登り／レバノンの奧深く進み／最も高く伸びたレバノン杉も／最も見事な絲杉も切り倒した．その果てに達した宿營地は／木の生い茂る森林であった．

わたしは井戶を掘って異國の水を飮んだが／エジプトのナイルの水流はことごとく／足の裏で踏みつけて干上がらせた．』

お前は聞いたことがないのか／はるか昔にわたしが計畵を立てていたことを．いにしえの日に心に描いたことを／わたしは今實現させた．お前はこうして砦の町¿を／瓦ラの山にすることとなった．

This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

By thy messengers thou hast reproached the LORD, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.

Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

力を失ったその住民は／打ちのめされて恥に覆われ／野の草，靑草のように／穗をつける前にしなびる／屋根に生える草のようになった．

お前が座っているのも／出て行くのも，入って來るのも／わたしは知っている．またわたしに向かって怒りに震えていることも．

お前がわたしに向かって怒りに震え／その梶りがわたしの耳にまで昇ってきたために／わたしはお前の鼻に一をかけ／口にくつわをはめ／お前が來た道を通って歸って行くようにする．

あなたにそのことを示すしるしはこうである．今年は落ち穗から生じた穀物を食べ，二年目は自然に生じたものを食べ，三年目には種を蒔いて刈り入れ，ぶどう畑を作り，その實りを食べる．

ユダの家の中で難を免れ，殘った者たちは再び根を下ろし，上には實を結ぶ．

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.

And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

エルサレムから殘った者が，シオンの山から難を免れた者が現れ出る．万軍の主の熱情がこれを成就される．

それゆえ，主はアッシリアの王についてこう言われる．彼がこの都に入城することはない．またそこに矢を射ることも，盾を持って向かって來ることも，都に對して土壘を築くこともない．

彼は來た道を引き返し，この都に入城することはない，と主は言われる．

わたしはこの都を守り拔いて救う．わたし自らのために，わが僕ダビデのために．」

その夜，主の御使いが現れ，アッシリアの陣營で十八万五千人を擊った．朝早く起きてみると，彼らは皆死體となっていた．

For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

アッシリアの王センナケリブは，そこをたって歸って行き，ニネベに落ち着いた．

彼が自分の神ニスロクの神殿で禮拜しているときに，アドラメレクとサルエツェルが彼を劍にかけて殺した．彼らはアララトの地に逃亡し，センナケリブに代わってその子エサル · ハドンが王となった．

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.
