- わたしは 自由な 者ではないか． 使徒ではないか． わたしたちの 主 イエス を 見たではないか． あなたがたは， 主のためにわたしが ¿いて 得た 成果ではないか．
- 他の 人たちにとってわたしは 使徒でないにしても， 少なくともあなたがたにとっては 使徒なのです． あなたがたは 主に 結ばれており， わたしが 使徒であることの 生きた 證據だからです．
- わたしを 批判する 人たちには， こう 弁明します．
- わたしたちには， 食べたり， 飮んだりする 權利が 全くないのですか．
- わたしたちには， 他の 使徒たちや 主の 兄弟たちや ケファ のように， 信者である 妻を 連れて 步く 權利がないのですか．

- Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
- If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
- Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
- Have we not power to eat and to drink?
- Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

- あるいは， わたしと バルナバ だけには， 生活の 資を 得るための 仕事をしなくてもよいという 權利がないのですか．
- そもそも， いったいだれが 自費で 戰爭に 行きますか． ぶどう 畑を 作って， その 實を 食べない 者がいますか． 羊の 群れを 飼って， その 乳を 飮まない 者がいますか．
- わたしがこう 言うのは， 人間の 思いからでしょうか． 律法も 言っているではないですか．
- モ ― セ の 律法に， 「脫穀している 牛に 口 ζ をはめてはならない 」と 書いてあります． 神が 心にかけておられるのは， 牛のことですか．
- それとも， わたしたちのために 言っておられるのでしょうか． もちろん， わたしたちのためにそう 書かれているのです． 耕す 者が 望みを 持って 耕し， 脫穀する 者が 分け 前にあずかることを 期待して ¿くのは 當然です．

- Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
- Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
- Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
- For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
- Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

- わたしたちがあなたがたに 靈的なものを 蒔いたのなら， あなたがたから 肉のものを 刈り 取ることは， 行き 過ぎでしょうか．
- 他の 人たちが， あなたがたに 對するこの 權利を 持っているとすれば， わたしたちはなおさらそうではありませんか． しかし， わたしたちはこの 權利を 用いませんでした． かえって キリスト の 福音を 少しでも 妨げてはならないと， すべてを 耐え 忍んでいます．
- あなたがたは 知らないのですか． 神殿で ¿く 人たちは 神殿から 下がる 物を 食べ， 祭壇に 仕える 人たちは 祭壇の 供え 物の 分け 前にあずかります．
- 同じように， 主は， 福音を 宣べ 傳える 人たちには 福音によって 生活の 資を 得るようにと， 指示されました．
- しかし， わたしはこの 權利を 何一つ 利用したことはありません． こう 書いたのは， 自分もその 權利を 利用したいからではない． それくらいなら， 死んだ 方がましです ……． だれも， わたしのこの 誇りを 無意味なものにしてはならない．

- If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
- If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
- Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
- Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
- But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

- もっとも， わたしが 福音を 告げ 知らせても， それはわたしの 誇りにはなりません． そうせずにはいられないことだからです． 福音を 告げ 知らせないなら， わたしは 不幸なのです．
- 自分からそうしているなら， 報酬を 得るでしょう． しかし， 强いられてするなら， それは， ゆだねられている 務めなのです．
- では， わたしの 報酬とは 何でしょうか． それは， 福音を 告げ 知らせるときにそれを 無報酬で 傳え， 福音を 傳えるわたしが 當然持っている 權利を 用いないということです．

- For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
- For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
- What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
