- 主は 嵐の 中から ヨブ に 答えて 仰せになった．
- これは 何者か． 知識もないのに， 言葉を 重ねて ／神の 經 └を 暗くするとは．
- 男らしく， 腰に 帶をせよ． わたしはお 前に 尋ねる， わたしに 答えてみよ．
- わたしが 大地を 据えたとき ／お 前はどこにいたのか． 知っていたというなら ／理解していることを 言ってみよ．
- 誰がその 廣がりを 定めたかを 知っているのか． 誰がその 上に 測り ¿を 張ったのか．

- Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
- Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
- Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
- Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
- Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

- 基の 柱はどこに 沈められたのか． 誰が 隅の 親石を 置いたのか．
- そのとき， 夜明けの 星はこぞって 喜び 歌い ／神の 子らは 皆， 喜びの 聲をあげた．
- 海は 二つの 扉を 押し 開いてほとばしり ／母の 胎から 溢れ 出た．
- わたしは 密雲をその 着物とし ／濃霧をその 産着としてまとわせた．
- しかし， わたしはそれに 限界を 定め ／二つの 扉にかんぬきを 付け

- Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
- When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
- Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
- When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
- And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

- 「ここまでは 來てもよいが 越えてはならない． 高ぶる 波をここでとどめよ 」と 命じた．
- お 前は 一生に 一度でも 朝に 命令し ／曙に 役割を 指示したことがあるか
- 大地の 緣をつかんで ／神に 逆らう 者どもを 地上から 拂い 落とせと．
- 大地は 粘土に 型を 押していくように 姿を 變え ／すべては 裝われて 現れる．
- しかし， 惡者どもにはその 光も 拒まれ ／振り 上げた 腕は 折られる．

- And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
- Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
- That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
- It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
- And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

- お 前は 海の 湧き 出るところまで 行き 着き ／深淵の 底を 行き 巡ったことがあるか．
- 死の 門がお 前に 姿を 見せ ／死の 闇の 門を 見たことがあるか．
- お 前はまた， 大地の 廣がりを ／隅¿まで 調べたことがあるか． そのすべてを 知っているなら 言ってみよ．
- 光が 住んでいるのはどの 方向か． 暗黑の 住みかはどこか．
- 光をその 境にまで 連れていけるか． 暗黑の 住みかに 至る 道を 知っているか．

- Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
- Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
- Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
- Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
- That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

- そのときお 前は 旣に 生まれていて ／人生の 日數も 多いと 言うのなら ／これらのことを 知っているはずだ．
- お 前は 雪の 倉に 入ったことがあるか． 嫁の 倉を 見たことがあるか．
- 災いの 時のために ／戰いや 爭いの 日のために ／わたしはこれらを 蓄えているのだ．
- 光が 放たれるのはどの 方向か． 東風が 地上に 送られる 道はどこか．
- 誰が 豪雨に 水路を 引き ／稻妻に 道を 備え

- Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
- Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
- Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
- By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
- Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

- まだ 人のいなかった 大地に ／無人であった 荒れ 野に 雨を 降らせ
- 乾ききったところを 潤し ／靑草の 芽がもえ 出るようにしたのか．
- 雨に 父親があるだろうか． 誰が 露の 滴を 産ませるのか．
- 誰の 腹から 嫁は 出てくるのか． 天から 降る 霜は 誰が 産むのか．
- 水は 凍って 石のようになり ／深淵の 面は 固く 閉ざされてしまう．

- To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
- To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
- Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
- Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
- The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

- すばるの 鎖を 引き 締め ／ オリオン の 綱を 緩めることがお 前にできるか．
- 時がくれば 銀河を 繰り 出し ／大熊を 子熊と 共に 導き 出すことができるか．
- 天の 法則を 知り ／その 支配を 地上に 及ぼす 者はお 前か．
- お 前が 雨雲に 向かって 聲をあげれば ／洪水がお 前を 包むだろうか．
- お 前が 送り 出そうとすれば ／稻妻が「はい 」と 答えて 出て 行くだろうか．

- Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
- Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
- Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
- Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
- Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

- 誰が ¿に 知惠を 授け ／誰が 雄鷄に 分別を 與えたのか．
- 誰が 知惠をもって 雲を 數え ／天にある 水の 袋を 傾けるのか．
- 塵が 溶けて 形を 成し ／土くれが 一塊となるように．
- お 前は 雌獅子のために 獲物を 備え ／その 子の 食欲を 滿たしてやることができるか．
- 雌獅子は 茂みに 待ち 伏せ ／その 子は 隱れがにうずくまっている．

- Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
- Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
- When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
- Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
- When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

- 誰が 烏のために 餌を 置いてやるのか ／その 雛が 神に 向かって 鳴き ／食べ 物を 求めて 迷い 出るとき．

- Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.
