- 兄弟たち， 分かりやすく 說明しましょう． 人の 作った 遺言でさえ， 法律的に 有效となったら， だれも 無效にしたり， それに 追加したりはできません．
- ところで， アブラハム とその 子孫に 對して 約束が 告げられましたが， その 際， 多くの 人を 指して「子孫たちとに 」とは 言われず， 一人の 人を 指して「あなたの 子孫とに 」と 言われています． この「子孫 」とは， キリスト のことです．
- わたしが 言いたいのは， こうです． 神によってあらかじめ 有效なものと 定められた 契約を， それから 四百三十年後にできた 律法が 無效にして， その 約束を 反故にすることはないということです．
- 相續が 律法に 由來するものなら， もはや， それは 約束に 由來するものではありません． しかし 神は， 約束によって アブラハム にその 惠みをお 與えになったのです．
- では， 律法とはいったい 何か． 律法は， 約束を 與えられたあの 子孫が 來られるときまで， 違犯を 明らかにするために 付け 加えられたもので， 天使たちを 通し， 仲介者の 手を 經て 制定されたものです．

- Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
- Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
- And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
- For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
- Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

- 仲介者というものは， 一人で 事を 行う 場合には 要りません． 約束の 場合， 神はひとりで 事を 運ばれたのです．
- それでは， 律法は 神の 約束に 反するものなのでしょうか． 決してそうではない． 万一， 人を 生かすことができる 律法が 與えられたとするなら， 確かに 人は 律法によって 義とされたでしょう．
- しかし， 聖書はすべてのものを 罪の 支配下に 閉じ ¿めたのです． それは， 神の 約束が， イエス · キリスト への 信仰によって， 信じる 人¿に 與えられるようになるためでした．
- 信仰が 現れる 前には， わたしたちは 律法の 下で 監視され， この 信仰が 啓示されるようになるまで 閉じ ¿められていました．
- こうして 律法は， わたしたちを キリスト のもとへ 導く 養育係となったのです． わたしたちが 信仰によって 義とされるためです．

- Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
- Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
- But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
- But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
- Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

- しかし， 信仰が 現れたので， もはや， わたしたちはこのような 養育係の 下にはいません．
- あなたがたは 皆， 信仰により， キリスト · イエス に 結ばれて 神の 子なのです．
- 洗禮を 受けて キリスト に 結ばれたあなたがたは 皆， キリスト を 着ているからです．
- そこではもはや， ユダヤ 人も ギリシア 人もなく， 奴隷も 自由な 身分の 者もなく， 男も 女もありません． あなたがたは 皆， キリスト · イエス において 一つだからです．
- あなたがたは， もし キリスト のものだとするなら， とりもなおさず， アブラハム の 子孫であり， 約束による 相續人です．

- But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
- For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
- For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
- There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
- And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
