- そこで， わたしの 子よ， あなたは キリスト · イエス における 惠みによって 强くなりなさい．
- そして， 多くの 證人の 面前でわたしから 聞いたことを， ほかの 人¿にも 敎えることのできる 忠實な 人たちにゆだねなさい．
- キリスト · イエス の 立派な 兵士として， わたしと 共に 苦しみを 忍びなさい．
- 兵役に 服している 者は 生計を 立てるための 仕事に 煩わされず， 自分を 召集した 者の 氣に 入ろうとします．
- また， 競技に 參加する 者は， 規則に 從って 競技をしないならば， 榮冠を 受けることができません．

- Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
- Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
- No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
- And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

- 勞苦している 農夫こそ， 最初に 收穫の 分け 前にあずかるべきです．
- わたしの 言うことをよく 考えてみなさい． 主は， あなたがすべてのことを 理解できるようにしてくださるからです．
- イエス · キリスト のことを 思い 起こしなさい． わたしの 宣べ 傳える 福音によれば， この 方は， ダビデ の 子孫で， 死者の 中から 復活されたのです．
- この 福音のためにわたしは 苦しみを 受け， ついに 犯罪人のように 鎖につながれています． しかし， 神の 言葉はつながれていません．
- だから， わたしは， 選ばれた 人¿のために， あらゆることを 耐え 忍んでいます． 彼らも キリスト · イエス による 救いを 永遠の 榮光と 共に 得るためです．

- The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
- Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
- Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
- Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
- Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

- 次の 言葉は 眞實です． 「わたしたちは， キリスト と 共に 死んだのなら， ／ キリスト と 共に 生きるようになる．
- 耐え 忍ぶなら， ／ キリスト と 共に 支配するようになる． キリスト を 否むなら， ／ キリスト もわたしたちを 否まれる．
- わたしたちが 誠實でなくても， ／ キリスト は 常に 眞實であられる． キリスト は 御自身を ／否むことができないからである． 」
- これらのことを 人¿に 思い 起こさせ， 言葉をあげつらわないようにと， 神の 御前で 嚴かに 命じなさい． そのようなことは， 何の 役にも 立たず， 聞く 者を 破滅させるのです．
- あなたは， 適格者と 認められて 神の 前に 立つ 者， 恥じるところのない ¿き 手， 眞理の 言葉を 正しく 傳える 者となるように 努めなさい．

- It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
- If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
- Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

- 俗惡な 無馱話を 避けなさい． そのような 話をする 者はますます 不信心になっていき，
- その 言葉は 惡いはれ 物のように 廣がります． その 中には， ヒメナイ と フィレト がいます．
- 彼らは 眞理の 道を 踏み 外し， 復活はもう 起こったと 言って， ある 人¿の 信仰を 覆しています．
- しかし， 神が 据えられた 堅固な 基礎は ¿るぎません． そこには， 「主は 御自分の 者たちを 知っておられる 」と， また「主の 名を 呼ぶ 者は 皆， 不義から 身を 引くべきである 」と 刻まれています．
- さて， 大きな 家には 金や 銀の 器だけではなく， 木や 土の 器もあります． 一方は 貴いことに， 他方は 普通のことに 用いられます．

- But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
- And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
- Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
- Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
- But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

- だから， 今述べた 諸惡から 自分を 淸める 人は， 貴いことに 用いられる 器になり， 聖なるもの， 主人に 役立つもの， あらゆる 善い 業のために 備えられたものとなるのです．

- If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
