에스겔

앗수르가 신흥 바벨론 제국에 의해 무너져 가는 시기에 부름받은 에스겔은 바벨론의 포로된 백성들에게 완전하고 최종적인 회복을 제시하며 위로하고 있다. 같은 시대의 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 멸망을 선포하는 동안, 에스겔은 현재 이스라엘이 받고 있는 형벌이 개인의 죄로 인한 결과임을 강조하면서 이스라엘이 반드시 회복된다는 희망을 심어 주고 있다.

1장부터 24장까지는 유다와 예루살렘에 대한 하나님의 심판에 대한 경고, 25장부터 32장까지는 이방에 대한 심판 선포, 33장부터 39장에서는 가까운 장래에 이루어질 이스라엘의 회복과 승리에 대한 예언, 그리고 40장부터 48장까지는 먼 미래에 이루어질 메시아 왕국에서 성취될 일을 선포하고 있다.

	에스겔 1:1-3:27 에스겔에게 환상을 보여 주신 하나님께서는 그를 선지자로 부르셔서 바벨론에서 포로 생활을 하는 이스라엘 백성에게 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 사명을 주셨다. 그리고 이 소명을 확증시키기 위해 그에게 두루마리를 받아 먹는 환상을 체험케 하셨다. 뿐만 아니라 하나님께서는 에스겔에게 능력을 주시고 이스라엘 민족의 파수꾼으로 삼으셨다.

	에스겔이 본 환상(1:1-1:28)

第三十年の四月五日のことである．わたしはケバル川の河畔に住んでいた捕囚の人¿の間にいたが，そのとき天が開かれ，わたしは神の ¿現に接した．

それは，ヨヤキン王が捕囚となって第五年の，その月の五日のことであった．

カルデアの地ケバル川の河畔で，主の言葉が祭司ブジの子エゼキエルに臨み，また，主の御手が彼の上に臨んだ．

わたしが見ていると，北の方から激しい風が大いなる雲を卷き起こし，火を發し，周圍に光を放ちながら吹いてくるではないか．その中，つまりその火の中には， ∵≡金の輝きのようなものがあった．

またその中には，四つの生き物の姿があった．その有樣はこうであった．彼らは人間のようなものであった．

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

それぞれが四つの顔を持ち，四つの翼を持っていた．

脚はまっすぐで，足の裏は子牛の足の裏に似ており，磨いた靑銅が輝くように光を放っていた．

また，翼の下には四つの方向に人間の手があった．四つとも，それぞれの顔と翼を持っていた．

翼は互いに觸れ合っていた．それらは移動するとき向きを變えず，それぞれ顔の向いている方向に進んだ．

その顔は人間の顔のようであり，四つとも右に獅子の顔，左に牛の顔，そして四つとも後ろには鷲の顔を持っていた．

And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

顔はそのようになっていた．翼は上に向かって廣げられ，二つは互いに觸れ合い，ほかの二つは體を覆っていた．

それらはそれぞれの顔の向いている方向に進み，靈の行かせる所へ進んで，移動するときに向きを變えることはなかった．

生き物の姿，彼らの有樣は燃える炭火の輝くようであり，松明の輝くように生き物の間を行き巡っていた．火は光り輝き，火から稻妻が出ていた．

そして生き物もまた，稻妻の光るように出たり戾ったりしていた．

わたしが生き物を見ていると，四つの顔を持つ生き物の傍らの地に一つの車輪が見えた．

Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

それらの車輪の有樣と構造は，綠柱石のように輝いていて，四つとも同じような姿をしていた．その有樣と構造は車輪の中にもう一つの車輪があるかのようであった．

それらが移動するとき，四つの方向のどちらにも進むことができ，移動するとき向きを變えることはなかった．

車輪の外¿は高く，恐ろしかった．車輪の外¿には，四つとも周圍一面に目がつけられていた．

生き物が移動するとき，傍らの車輪も進み，生き物が地上から引き上げられるとき，車輪も引き上げられた．

それらは靈が行かせる方向に，靈が行かせる所にはどこにでも進み，車輪もまた，共に引き上げられた．生き物の靈が，車輪の中にあったからである．

The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

生き物が進むときには車輪も進み，生き物が止まるときには車輪も止まった．また，生き物が地上から引き上げられるとき，車輪も共に引き上げられた．生き物の靈が，車輪の中にあったからである．

生き物の頭上には，恐れを呼び起こす，水晶のように輝く大空のようなものがあった．それは生き物の頭上に高く廣がっていた．

大空の下では，生き物の一對の翼がまっすぐに伸びて互いに觸れ合い，他の一對の翼が體を覆っていた．すなわち，それぞれの一對の翼が彼らの體を覆っていた．

それらが移動するとき，翼の羽ばたく音をわたしは聞いたが，それは大水の音のように，全能なる神の御聲のように聞こえ，また，陣營のどよめきのようにも聞こえた．それらが止まっているとき，翼は垂れていた．

生き物の頭上にある大空から音が響いた．それらが止まっているとき，翼は垂れていた．

When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

生き物の頭上にある大空の上に，サファイアのように見える王座の形をしたものがあり，王座のようなものの上には高く人間のように見える姿をしたものがあった．

腰のように見えるところから上は， ∵≡金が輝いているようにわたしには見えた．それは周りに燃えひろがる火のように見えた．腰のように見えるところから下は，火のように見え，周圍に光を放っていた．

周圍に光を放つ樣は，雨の日の雲に現れる虹のように見えた．これが主の榮光の姿の有樣であった．わたしはこれを見てひれ伏した．そのとき，語りかける者があって，わたしはその聲を聞いた．

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

	에스겔의 소명(2:1-3:27)

彼はわたしに言われた．「人の子よ，自分の足で立て．わたしはあなたに命じる．」

彼がわたしに語り始めたとき，靈がわたしの中に入り，わたしを自分の足で立たせた．わたしは語りかける者に耳を傾けた．

主は言われた．「人の子よ，わたしはあなたを，イスラエルの人¿，わたしに逆らった反逆の民に遣わす．彼らは，その先祖たちと同樣わたしに背いて，今日この日に至っている．

恥知らずで，强情な人¿のもとに，わたしはあなたを遣わす．彼らに言いなさい，主なる神はこう言われる，と．

彼らが聞き入れようと，また，反逆の家なのだから拒もうとも，彼らは自分たちの間に預言者がいたことを知るであろう．

And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

人の子よ，あなたはあざみと茨に押しつけられ， ·の上に座らされても，彼らを恐れてはならない．またその言葉を恐れてはならない．彼らが反逆の家だからといって，彼らの言葉を恐れ，彼らの前にたじろいではならない．

たとえ彼らが聞き入れようと拒もうと，あなたはわたしの言葉を語らなければならない．彼らは反逆の家なのだ．

人の子よ，わたしがあなたに語ることを聞きなさい．あなたは反逆の家のように背いてはならない．口を開いて，わたしが與えるものを食べなさい．」

わたしが見ていると，手がわたしに差し伸べられており，その手に卷物があるではないか．

彼がそれをわたしの前に開くと，表にも裏にも文字が記されていた．それは哀歌と，呻きと，嘆きの言葉であった．

And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

彼はわたしに言われた．「人の子よ，目の前にあるものを食べなさい．この卷物を食べ，行ってイスラエルの家に語りなさい．」

わたしが口を開くと，主はこの卷物をわたしに食べさせて，

言われた．「人の子よ，わたしが與えるこの卷物を胃袋に入れ，腹を滿たせ．」わたしがそれを食べると，それは蜜のように口に甘かった．

主はわたしに言われた．「人の子よ，イスラエルの家に行き，わたしの言葉を彼らに語りなさい．

まことに，あなたは，不可解な言語や難しい言葉を語る民にではなく，イスラエルの家に遣わされる．

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

あなたは聞き取ることができない不可解な言語や難しい言葉を語る多くの民に遣わされるのではない．もしわたしがあなたをそれらの民に遣わすのなら，彼らはあなたに聞き從うであろう．

しかし，イスラエルの家は，あなたに聞こうとはしない．まことに，彼らはわたしに聞こうとしない者だ．まことにイスラエルの家はすべて，額も硬く心も硬い．

今やわたしは，あなたの顔を彼らの顔のように硬くし，あなたの額を彼らの額のように硬くする．

あなたの額を岩よりも硬いダイヤモンドのようにする．彼らが反逆の家だからといって，彼らを恐れ，彼らの前にたじろいではならない．」

更に主は言われた．「人の子よ，わたしがあなたに語るすべての言葉を心におさめ，耳に入れておきなさい．

Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

そして捕囚となっている同胞のもとに行き，たとえ彼らが聞き入れようと拒もうと，『主なる神はこう言われる』と言いなさい．」

そのとき，靈がわたしを引き上げた．わたしは背後に，大きなとどろく音を聞いた．主の榮光が，その御座から上るときの音である．

あの生き物の翼が互いに觸れ合う音，生き物の傍らの車輪の音，かの大きなとどろく音を聞いた．

靈はわたしを引き上げて連れ去った．わたしは苦¿しく，怒りに燃える心をもって出て行ったが，主の御手がわたしを强く捕らえていた．

こうしてわたしは，ケバル川の河畔のテル · アビブに住む捕囚民のもとに來たが，彼らの住んでいるそのところに座り，ぼう然として七日間，彼らの間にとどまっていた．

And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

七日の後，主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，わたしはあなたを，イスラエルの家の見張りとする．わたしの口から言葉を聞くなら，あなたはわたしに代わって彼らに警告せねばならない．

わたしが惡人に向かって，『お前は必ず死ぬ』と言うとき，もしあなたがその惡人に警告して，惡人が惡の道から離れて命を得るように諭さないなら，惡人は自分の罪のゆえに死ぬが，彼の死の責任をあなたに問う．

しかし，あなたが惡人に警告したのに，惡人が自分の惡と惡の道から立ち歸らなかった場合には，彼は自分の罪のゆえに死に，あなたは自分の命を救う．

また，正しい人が自分の正しい生き方を離れて不正を行うなら，わたしは彼をつまずかせ，彼は死ぬ．あなたが彼に警告しなかったので，彼は自分の過ちのゆえに死ぬ．彼がなしてきた正しい生き方は覺えられない．また彼の死の責任をわたしはあなたに問う．

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

しかし，あなたが正しい人に過ちを犯さないように警告し，彼が過ちを犯さなければ，彼は警告を受け入れたのだから命を得，あなたも自分の命を救う．」

主の御手が，そこで，わたしに臨んだ．主はわたしに言われた．「立って，平野に出て行きなさい．そこでわたしはあなたに語る．」

Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

また，わたしはあなたの舌を上顎につかせ，ものが言えないようにする．こうして彼らを責める者としてのあなたの役割は終わる．まことに彼らは反逆の家だ．

しかし，わたしが語りかけるとき，あなたの口を開く．そこであなたは彼らに言わねばならない．主なる神はこう言われる．聞き入れようとする者は聞き入れよ．拒もうとする者は拒むがよい．彼らは反逆の家だから．」

And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
