- 召し 使いたち， 心からおそれ 敬って 主人に 從いなさい． 善良で 寬大な 主人にだけでなく， 無慈悲な 主人にもそうしなさい．
- 不當な 苦しみを 受けることになっても， 神がそうお 望みだとわきまえて 苦痛を 耐えるなら， それは 御心に 適うことなのです．
- 罪を 犯して 打ちたたかれ， それを 耐え 忍んでも， 何の 譽れになるでしょう． しかし， 善を 行って 苦しみを 受け， それを 耐え 忍ぶなら， これこそ 神の 御心に 適うことです．
- あなたがたが 召されたのはこのためです． というのは， キリスト もあなたがたのために 苦しみを 受け， その 足跡に 續くようにと， 模範を 殘されたからです．
- 「この 方は， 罪を 犯したことがなく， ／その 口には 僞りがなかった． 」

- Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
- For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
- For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
- For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

- ののしられてもののしり 返さず， 苦しめられても 人を 脅さず， 正しくお 裁きになる 方にお 任せになりました．
- そして， 十字架にかかって， 自らその 身にわたしたちの 罪を 擔ってくださいました． わたしたちが， 罪に 對して 死んで， 義によって 生きるようになるためです． そのお 受けになった 傷によって， あなたがたはいやされました．
- あなたがたは 羊のようにさまよっていましたが， 今は， 魂の 牧者であり， 監督者である 方のところへ 戾って 來たのです．
