- 終わりに， 皆心を 一つに， 同情し 合い， 兄弟を 愛し， 憐れみ 深く， 謙虛になりなさい．
- 惡をもって 惡に， 侮辱をもって 侮辱に 報いてはなりません． かえって 祝福を 祈りなさい． 祝福を 受け 繼ぐためにあなたがたは 召されたのです．
- 「命を 愛し， ／幸せな 日¿を 過ごしたい 人は， ／舌を 制して， 惡を 言わず， ／唇を 閉じて， 僞りを 語らず，
- 惡から 遠ざかり， 善を 行い， ／平和を 願って， これを 追い 求めよ．
- 主の 目は 正しい 者に 注がれ， ／主の 耳は 彼らの 祈りに 傾けられる． 主の 顔は 惡事を ¿く 者に 對して 向けられる． 」

- Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
- Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
- For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
- Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
- For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

- もし， 善いことに 熱心であるなら， だれがあなたがたに 害を 加えるでしょう．
- しかし， 義のために 苦しみを 受けるのであれば， 幸いです． 人¿を 恐れたり， 心を 亂したりしてはいけません．
- 心の 中で キリスト を 主とあがめなさい． あなたがたの 抱いている 希望について 說明を 要求する 人には， いつでも 弁明できるように 備えていなさい．
- それも， 穩やかに， 敬意をもって， 正しい 良心で， 弁明するようにしなさい． そうすれば， キリスト に 結ばれたあなたがたの 善い 生活をののしる 者たちは， 惡口を 言ったことで 恥じ 入るようになるのです．
- 神の 御心によるのであれば， 善を 行って 苦しむ 方が， 惡を 行って 苦しむよりはよい．

- And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
- But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
- But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
- Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
- For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

- キリスト も， 罪のためにただ 一度苦しまれました． 正しい 方が， 正しくない 者たちのために 苦しまれたのです． あなたがたを 神のもとへ 導くためです． キリスト は， 肉では 死に 渡されましたが， 靈では 生きる 者とされたのです．
- そして， 靈において キリスト は， 捕らわれていた 靈たちのところへ 行って 宣敎されました．
- この 靈たちは， ノア の 時代に 箱舟が 作られていた 間， 神が 忍耐して 待っておられたのに 從わなかった 者です． この 箱舟に 乘り ¿んだ 數人， すなわち 八人だけが 水の 中を 通って 救われました．
- この 水で 前もって 表された 洗禮は， 今や イエス · キリスト の 復活によってあなたがたをも 救うのです． 洗禮は， 肉の 汚れを 取り 除くことではなくて， 神に 正しい 良心を 願い 求めることです．
- キリスト は， 天に 上って 神の 右におられます． 天使， また 權威や 勢力は， キリスト の 支配に 服しているのです．

- For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
- By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
- Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
- The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
- Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
