- わたしの 子たちよ， これらのことを 書くのは， あなたがたが 罪を 犯さないようになるためです． たとえ 罪を 犯しても， 御父のもとに 弁護者， 正しい 方， イエス · キリスト がおられます．
- この 方こそ， わたしたちの 罪， いや， わたしたちの 罪ばかりでなく， 全世界の 罪を 償ういけにえです．
- わたしたちは， 神の ¿を 守るなら， それによって， 神を 知っていることが 分かります．
- 「神を 知っている 」と 言いながら， 神の ¿を 守らない 者は， 僞り 者で， その 人の 內には 眞理はありません．
- しかし， 神の 言葉を 守るなら， まことにその 人の 內には 神の 愛が 實現しています． これによって， わたしたちが 神の 內にいることが 分かります．

- My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
- And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
- And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
- He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
- But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

- 神の 內にいつもいると 言う 人は， イエス が 步まれたように 自らも 步まなければなりません．
- 愛する 者たち， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， 新しい ¿ではなく， あなたがたが 初めから 受けていた 古い ¿です． この 古い ¿とは， あなたがたが 旣に 聞いたことのある 言葉です．
- しかし， わたしは 新しい ¿として 書いています． そのことは， イエス にとってもあなたがたにとっても 眞實です． 闇が 去って， 旣にまことの 光が 輝いているからです．
- 「光の 中にいる 」と 言いながら， 兄弟を 憎む 者は， 今もなお 闇の 中にいます．
- 兄弟を 愛する 人は， いつも 光の 中におり， その 人にはつまずきがありません．

- He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
- Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
- Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
- He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
- He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

- しかし， 兄弟を 憎む 者は 闇の 中におり， 闇の 中を 步み， 自分がどこへ 行くかを 知りません． 闇がこの 人の 目を 見えなくしたからです．
- 子たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／ イエス の 名によって ／あなたがたの 罪が 赦されているからである．
- 父たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／あなたがたが， 初めから 存在なさる 方を ／知っているからである． 若者たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／あなたがたが 惡い 者に 打ち 勝ったからである．
- 子供たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／あなたがたが 御父を 知っているからである． 父たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／あなたがたが， 初めから 存在なさる 方を ／知っているからである． 若者たちよ， わたしがあなたがたに 書いているのは， ／あなたがたが 强く， ／神の 言葉があなたがたの 內にいつもあり， ／あなたがたが 惡い 者に 打ち 勝ったからである．
- 世も 世にあるものも， 愛してはいけません． 世を 愛する 人がいれば， 御父への 愛はその 人の 內にありません．

- But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
- I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
- I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
- I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
- Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

- なぜなら， すべて 世にあるもの， 肉の 欲， 目の 欲， 生活のおごりは， 御父から 出ないで， 世から 出るからです．
- 世も 世にある 欲も， 過ぎ 去って 行きます． しかし， 神の 御心を 行う 人は 永遠に 生き 續けます．

- For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
- And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
