- Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
- Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
- That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
- Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.

- 一つの 民がわたしの 國に 攻め 上って 來た． 强大で 數知れない 民が． その 齒は 雄獅子の 齒， 牙は 雌獅子の 牙．
- わたしのぶどうの 木を 荒らし ／わたしのいちじくの 木を 引き 裂き ／皮を 引きはがし， 枝を 白くして 投げ 捨てた．
- 泣き 悲しめ ／いいなずけに 死なれて ／粗布をまとうおとめのように．
- 獻げ 物の 穀物とぶどう 酒は 主の 宮から 斷たれ ／主に 仕える 祭司は 嘆く．
- 畑は 略奪され， 地は 嘆く． 穀物は 略奪され ／ぶどうの 實は 枯れ 盡くし ／ オリ ― ブ の 木は 衰えてしまった．

- For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
- He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

- 農夫は 恥じ， ぶどう 作りは 泣き 叫ぶ． 小麥と 大麥， 畑の 實りは 失われた．
- ぶどうの 木は 枯れ 盡くし， いちじくの 木は 衰え ／ざくろも， なつめやしも， りんごも ／野の 木はすべて 實をつけることなく ／人¿の 樂しみは 枯れ 盡くした．
- 祭司よ， 粗布を 腰にまとって 嘆き 悲しめ． 祭壇に 仕える 者よ， 泣き 叫べ． 神に 仕える 者よ， 粗布をまとって 夜を 明かせ． 獻げ 物の 穀物とぶどう 酒は， もはや ／あなたたちの 神の 宮にもたらされることはない．
- 斷食を 布告し， 聖會を 召集し ／長老をはじめこの 國の 民をすべて ／あなたたちの 神， 主の 神殿に 集め ／主に 向かって 嘆きの 叫びをあげよ．
- ああ， 恐るべき 日よ ／主の 日が 近づく． 全能者による 破滅の 日が 來る．

- Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
- The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
- Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
- Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
- Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

- 種は 乾いた 土の 下に 干からび ／穀物は 枯れ 盡くし ／倉は 荒れ， 穀物倉は 破壞された．
- なんという 呻きを 家畜はすることか． 牛の 群れがさまよい ／羊の 群れが 苦しむのは ／もはや， 牧草がどこにもないからだ．
- 主よ， わたしはあなたを 呼びます． 火が 荒れ 野の 草地を 燒き 盡くし ／炎が 野の 木をなめ 盡くしたからです．
- 野の ¿もあなたを 求めます． 流れの 水は ¿れ ／火が 荒れ 野の 草地を 燒き 盡くしたからです．

- Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
- The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
- How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
- O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
- The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
