- さて， エルサレム の 人¿の 中には 次のように 言う 者たちがいた． 「これは， 人¿が 殺そうとねらっている 者ではないか．
- あんなに 公然と 話しているのに， 何も 言われない． 議員たちは， この 人が メシア だということを， 本當に 認めたのではなかろうか．
- しかし， わたしたちは， この 人がどこの 出身かを 知っている． メシア が 來られるときは， どこから 來られるのか， だれも 知らないはずだ． 」
- すると， 神殿の 境內で 敎えていた イエス は， 大聲で 言われた． 「あなたたちはわたしのことを 知っており， また， どこの 出身かも 知っている． わたしは 自分勝手に 來たのではない． わたしをお 遣わしになった 方は 眞實であるが， あなたたちはその 方を 知らない．
- わたしはその 方を 知っている． わたしはその 方のもとから 來た 者であり， その 方がわたしをお 遣わしになったのである． 」

- So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?
- "Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?
- "However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from."
- Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
- "I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."

- 人¿は イエス を 捕らえようとしたが， 手をかける 者はいなかった． イエス の 時はまだ 來ていなかったからである．
- しかし， 群衆の 中には イエス を 信じる 者が 大勢いて， 「メシア が 來られても， この 人よりも 多くのしるしをなさるだろうか 」と 言った．
- ファリサイ 派の 人¿は， 群衆が イエス についてこのようにささやいているのを 耳にした． 祭司長たちと ファリサイ 派の 人¿は， イエス を 捕らえるために 下役たちを 遣わした．
- そこで， イエス は 言われた． 「今しばらく， わたしはあなたたちと 共にいる． それから， 自分をお 遣わしになった 方のもとへ 歸る．
- あなたたちは， わたしを 搜しても， 見つけることがない． わたしのいる 所に， あなたたちは 來ることができない． 」

- So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
- But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, "When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?"
- The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.
- Therefore Jesus said, "For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
- "You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come."

- すると， ユダヤ 人たちが 互いに 言った． 「わたしたちが 見つけることはないとは， いったい， どこへ 行くつもりだろう． ギリシア 人の 間に 離散している ユダヤ 人のところへ 行って， ギリシア 人に 敎えるとでもいうのか．
- 『あなたたちは， わたしを 搜しても， 見つけることがない． わたしのいる 所に， あなたたちは 來ることができない 』と 彼は 言ったが， その 言葉はどういう 意味なのか． 」
- 祭りが 最も 盛大に 祝われる 終わりの 日に， イエス は 立ち 上がって 大聲で 言われた． 「渴いている 人はだれでも， わたしのところに 來て 飮みなさい．
- わたしを 信じる 者は， 聖書に 書いてあるとおり， その 人の 內から 生きた 水が 川となって 流れ 出るようになる． 」
- イエス は， 御自分を 信じる 人¿が 受けようとしている “靈 ＂について 言われたのである． イエス はまだ 榮光を 受けておられなかったので， “靈 ＂がまだ 降っていなかったからである．

- The Jews then said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?
- "What is this statement that He said, 'You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
- Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
- "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"
- But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

- この 言葉を 聞いて， 群衆の 中には， 「この 人は， 本當にあの 預言者だ 」と 言う 者や，
- 「この 人は メシア だ 」と 言う 者がいたが， このように 言う 者もいた． 「メシア は ガリラヤ から 出るだろうか．
- メシア は ダビデ の 子孫で， ダビデ のいた 村 ベツレヘム から 出ると， 聖書に 書いてあるではないか． 」
- こうして， イエス のことで 群衆の 間に 對立が 生じた．
- その 中には イエス を 捕らえようと 思う 者もいたが， 手をかける 者はなかった．

- Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, "This certainly is the Prophet."
- Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?
- "Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
- So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.
- Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

- さて， 祭司長たちや ファリサイ 派の 人¿は， 下役たちが 戾って 來たとき， 「どうして， あの 男を 連れて 來なかったのか 」と 言った．
- 下役たちは， 「今まで， あの 人のように 話した 人はいません 」と 答えた．
- すると， ファリサイ 派の 人¿は 言った． 「お 前たちまでも 惑わされたのか．
- 議員や ファリサイ 派の 人¿の 中に， あの 男を 信じた 者がいるだろうか．
- だが， 律法を 知らないこの 群衆は， 呪われている． 」

- The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?"
- The officers answered, "Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks."
- The Pharisees then answered them, "You have not also been led astray, have you?
- "No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?
- "But this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed."

- 彼らの 中の 一人で， 以前 イエス を 訪ねたことのある ニコデモ が 言った．
- 「我¿の 律法によれば， まず 本人から 事情を 聞き， 何をしたかを 確かめたうえでなければ， 判決を 下してはならないことになっているではないか． 」
- 彼らは 答えて 言った． 「あなたも ガリラヤ 出身なのか． よく 調べてみなさい． ガリラヤ からは 預言者の 出ないことが 分かる． 」
- 〔人¿はおのおの 家へ 歸って 行った．

- Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them,
- "Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?"
- They answered him, "You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee."
- [Everyone went to his home.
