	역대하 31:1-32:33 히스기야는 전국에 있는 우상을 없애고, 성전 일을 맡은 제사장과 레위인의 직책을 회복시킨 후 보수 규정을 마련하여 그 직책을 안정시켰다. 그리고 십일조와 예물의 효과적 관리 분배로 불필요한 낭비를 방지하였다. 또한 히스기야는 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 유다를 침략했지만 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 물리쳤다.

	히스기야의 종교 개혁(31:1-31:21)

このようなことがすべて終わると，そこにいたすべてのイスラエル人はユダの町¿に出かけて，石柱を ¿き，アシェラ像を切り倒し，聖なる高台と祭壇を破壞し，ユダ全土，ベニヤミン，エフライム，マナセからそれらを徹底的に除き去った．こうしてイスラエルの人¿は皆，それぞれ自分の町，自分の所有地に歸って行った．

ヒゼキヤは祭司とレビ人の組分けを行い，その組ごとに，主の陣營の門の中で，祭司とレビ人がそれぞれの任務に從って燒き盡くす獻げ物や和解の獻げ物をささげ，感謝し，贊美しながら奉仕するように定めた．

王はまた燒き盡くす獻げ物のために自分の財産から王の分を出し，主の律法に記されているとおり，朝夕の燒き盡くす獻げ物，安息日，新月祭，およびその他の祝祭日の燒き盡くす獻げ物をささげさせた．

更に彼はエルサレムに住む民に，祭司とレビ人の受けるべき分を提供するように命じた．これは，祭司とレビ人が主の律法のことに專念するためであった．

この命令が傳わると，イスラエルの人¿は穀物，ぶどう酒，油，蜜など，畑のあらゆる産物の初物を大量にささげ，またあらゆる物の十分の一を大量に運んで來た．

Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah, broke the pillars in pieces, cut down the Asherim and pulled down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the sons of Israel returned to their cities, each to his possession.

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites by their divisions, each according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

He also appointed the king's portion of his goods for the burnt offerings, namely, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the sabbaths and for the new moons and for the fixed festivals, as it is written in the law of the LORD.

Also he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might devote themselves to the law of the LORD.

As soon as the order spread, the sons of Israel provided in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey and of all the produce of the field; and they brought in abundantly the tithe of all.

ユダの町¿に住むイスラエルとユダの人¿も，牛と羊の十分の一と，自分たちの神，主のために聖別された物の十分の一を運んで來て，次¿と積み上げた．

第三の月に，その積み上げが始まり，第七の月に終わった．

ヒゼキヤと高官たちはその積み上げを見に來て，主とその民イスラエルをたたえた．

ヒゼキヤが祭司とレビ人にその積み上げについて尋ねると，

ツァドク家の祭司長アザルヤはこう答えた．「主の神殿に獻納物の奉納が始まってから私たちは食べ物に不足はなく，むしろたくさん殘ってしまうほどです．主はその民を祝福してくださいました．この大量の物が殘っています．」

The sons of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of sacred gifts which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and placed them in heaps.

In the third month they began to make the heaps, and finished them by the seventh month.

When Hezekiah and the rulers came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and His people Israel.

Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps.

Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok said to him, "Since the contributions began to be brought into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat with plenty left over, for the LORD has blessed His people, and this great quantity is left over."

ヒゼキヤは主の神殿の中に祭司室を設けるように命じたので，彼らはそうした．

Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.

They faithfully brought in the contributions and the tithes and the consecrated things; and Conaniah the Levite was the officer in charge of them and his brother Shimei was second.

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were overseers under the authority of Conaniah and Shimei his brother by the appointment of King Hezekiah, and Azariah was the chief officer of the house of God.

Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the eastern gate, was over the freewill offerings of God, to apportion the contributions for the LORD and the most holy things.

Under his authority were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah in the cities of the priests, to distribute faithfully their portions to their brothers by divisions, whether great or small,

登錄された三歲以上の男子のほかに，主の神殿に入り，組ごとの任務として，日¿の奉仕に當たる者すべてに分配された．

祭司はその家系に從って，レビ人は二十歲以上の者が，その組ごとの任務に從って登錄されていた．

彼らの登錄は，そのすべての幼兒，妻，息子，娘，すなわち全會衆を含んでいた．彼らも聖別された物を忠實に取り扱うために聖別されていたからである．

また，彼らの町の牧草地にいる，アロンの子孫である祭司たちのためには，どの町にも指名された者がいて，祭司ならすべての男子に，レビ人なら登錄されているすべての者に，その受けるべき分を分配することになっていた．

ヒゼキヤはユダの全土にこのように行い，自分の神，主の御前に良い事，正しい事，眞實な事を行った．

without regard to their genealogical enrollment, to the males from thirty years old and upward--everyone who entered the house of the LORD for his daily obligations--for their work in their duties according to their divisions;

as well as the priests who were enrolled genealogically according to their fathers' households, and the Levites from twenty years old and upwards, by their duties and their divisions.

The genealogical enrollment included all their little children, their wives, their sons and their daughters, for the whole assembly, for they consecrated themselves faithfully in holiness.

Also for the sons of Aaron the priests who were in the pasture lands of their cities, or in each and every city, there were men who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone genealogically enrolled among the Levites.

Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah; and he did what was good, right and true before the LORD his God.

彼は神殿における奉仕について，また律法と戒めについて，神を求めて始めたすべての事業を，心を盡くして進め，成し遂げた．

Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.

	산헤립의 침략(32:1-32:33)

ヒゼキヤがこれらの眞實な事を行った後，アッシリアの王センナケリブが攻めて來た．彼はユダに侵入し，その砦の町¿に對して陣を張り，町¿を攻め取ろうとした．

ヒゼキヤは，センナケリブが來て，エルサレム攻略を目指しているのを見ると，

將軍や勇士たちと協議し，町の外にある泉の水をせき止めることにした．彼らは王を支持した．

多くの民が集まり，そのすべての泉と，この地を流れる谷川をせき止め，「アッシリアの王が來るとき，豊富な水を得させてはならない」と言った．

王は意欲的に，壞れた城壁を修理し，その上に塔を立て，外側にもう一つの城壁を築いた．ダビデの町のミロを堅固にし，多くの投げ槍と盾を作った．

After these acts of faithfulness Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah and besieged the fortified cities, and thought to break into them for himself.

Now when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to make war on Jerusalem,

he decided with his officers and his warriors to cut off the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him.

So many people assembled and stopped up all the springs and the stream which flowed through the region, saying, "Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?"

And he took courage and rebuilt all the wall that had been broken down and erected towers on it, and built another outside wall and strengthened the Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in great number.

王は指揮官を民の上に立て，彼らを城門の前にある廣場に集めて激勵して言った．

「强く雄¿しくあれ．アッシリアの王とその全軍團を見ても，恐れてはならない．おじけてはならない．我¿と共においでになる方は，敵と共にいる者より力强い．

敵には人の力しかないが，我¿には我¿の神，主がいて助けとなり，我¿のために戰ってくださる．」民はユダの王ヒゼキヤの言葉に力づけられた．

その後，全軍を率いてラキシュを攻めていたアッシリアの王センナケリブは，エルサレムに家臣たちを遣わし，エルサレムにいるユダの王ヒゼキヤとユダのすべての人¿にこう言わせた．

「アッシリアの王センナケリブはこう言われる．お前たちは何を賴りにして，包圍されたエルサレムにとどまっているのか．

He appointed military officers over the people and gathered them to him in the square at the city gate, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

"Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of all the horde that is with him; for the one with us is greater than the one with him.

"With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

After this Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem while he was besieging Lachish with all his forces with him, against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

"Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, 'On what are you trusting that you are remaining in Jerusalem under siege?

ヒゼキヤは，『我¿の神，主がアッシリアの王の手から救ってくださる』と言って，お前たちを唆し，飢えと渴きで死なせようとしているのではないか．

ヒゼキヤはユダとエルサレムに向かい，『ただ一つの祭壇の前で禮拜し，その上で ¿牲を燃やして煙にせよ』と言って，彼の主の聖なる高台と祭壇を取り除いたのではなかったか．

お前たちは，わたしとわたしの先祖が全世界の民に行ったことを知らないのか．諸國の神¿がわたしの手からその國を救い出すことができたか．

わたしの先祖によって滅ぼされたこれら諸國の神¿のうち，どの神がわたしの手からその民を救い出すことができたか．お前たちの神は，わたしの手からお前たちを救うことができるというのか．

そのようにしてヒゼキヤに欺かれ，唆されてはならない．彼を信じてはならない．どの民，どの國のどの神も，わたしの手から，またわたしの先祖の手からその民を救うことができなかった．お前たちの神も，このわたしの手からお前たちを救い出すことはできない．」

'Is not Hezekiah misleading you to give yourselves over to die by hunger and by thirst, saying, "The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria"?

'Has not the same Hezekiah taken away His high places and His altars, and said to Judah and Jerusalem, "You shall worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn incense"?

'Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand?

'Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed who could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?

'Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you like this, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?'"

センナケリブの家臣たちは，神なる主とその僕ヒゼキヤに向かってなお語り續けた．

またセンナケリブ自らイスラエルの神，主を侮る手紙を書き，主に逆らって言った．「わたしの手から自分の民を救うことのできなかった諸國の神¿と同じように，ヒゼキヤの神も，わたしの手からその民を救い出すことはできない．」

彼らは城壁の上にいたエルサレムの民に，ユダの言葉を使って大聲で呼びかけ，恐れと戶惑いを起こさせ，町を占領しようとした．

彼らは，エルサレムの神を，人の手の業にすぎない諸國の神¿と同じように考えて語った．

ヒゼキヤ王と預言者，アモツの子イザヤはこの事のために祈り，天に助けを求めて叫んだ．

His servants spoke further against the LORD God and against His servant Hezekiah.

He also wrote letters to insult the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, "As the gods of the nations of the lands have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand."

They called this out with a loud voice in the language of Judah to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten and terrify them, so that they might take the city.

They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men's hands.

But King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed about this and cried out to heaven.

主は御使いを遣わして，アッシリアの王の陣營にいる勇士，指揮官，將軍を全滅させられた．王は面目を失って歸國し，その神の神殿に來たところ，自分の血を引く王子らによって劍にかけられ倒された．

こうして主は，ヒゼキヤとエルサレムの住民を，アッシリアの王センナケリブおよびあらゆる敵の手から救い，周圍の者たちから彼らを守って安らぎを與えられた．

多くの人¿が主にささげる供え物と，ユダの王ヒゼキヤにささげる貴重な品¿を携えてエルサレムに來た．それ以來，王はあらゆる國の民から仰ぎ見られるようになった．

そのころ，ヒゼキヤは病にかかり，死にそうになった．彼が主に祈ったので，主は彼にこたえ，しるしを與えられた．

しかし，ヒゼキヤは受けた恩惠にふさわしくこたえず，思い上がり，自分とユダ，エルサレムの上に怒りを招いた．

And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every mighty warrior, commander and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own children killed him there with the sword.

So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

And many were bringing gifts to the LORD at Jerusalem and choice presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations thereafter.

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill; and he prayed to the LORD, and the LORD spoke to him and gave him a sign.

But Hezekiah gave no return for the benefit he received, because his heart was proud; therefore wrath came on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

ヒゼキヤはエルサレムの住民と共に，思い上がりを捨ててへりくだったので，その時代に彼らが主の怒りに襲われることはなかった．

ヒゼキヤは極めて多くの富と譽れに惠まれ，寶物庫を造って金，銀，寶石，香料，盾，その他あらゆる寶物を納め，

補給基地の町を造って，穀物，ぶどう酒，油など農産物を蓄え，畜舍を造って，あらゆる種類の家畜を飼い，柵を造って，羊の群れを飼っていた．

町を幾つも造り，羊や牛の群れを數多く持った．神が極めて豊かな財産をお與えになったからである．

上の方にあるギホンの湧き水をせき止め，ダビデの町の西側に向かって流れ下るようにしたのも，このヒゼキヤであった．ヒゼキヤはそのすべての事業を成し遂げた．

However, Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

Now Hezekiah had immense riches and honor; and he made for himself treasuries for silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuable articles,

storehouses also for the produce of grain, wine and oil, pens for all kinds of cattle and sheepfolds for the flocks.

He made cities for himself and acquired flocks and herds in abundance, for God had given him very great wealth.

It was Hezekiah who stopped the upper outlet of the waters of Gihon and directed them to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all that he did.

しかし，バビロンの諸侯が，この地に起こった奇跡について調べさせるため，使節を遣わしたとき，神はヒゼキヤを試み，その心にある事を知り盡くすために，彼を捨て置かれた．

ヒゼキヤの他の事績および敬神の行爲の數¿は，『預言者，アモツの子イザヤの見た幻』と『ユダとイスラエルの列王の書』に記されている．

ヒゼキヤは先祖と共に眠りにつき，その遺體はダビデ一族の墓のある丘に葬られた．その死にあたってすべてのユダとエルサレムの住民が彼に敬意を表した．その子マナセがヒゼキヤに代わって王となった．

Even in the matter of the envoys of the rulers of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone only to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his deeds of devotion, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

So Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper section of the tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. And his son Manasseh became king in his place.
