- 十字架の 言葉は， 滅んでいく 者にとっては 愚かなものですが， わたしたち 救われる 者には 神の 力です．
- それは， こう 書いてあるからです． 「わたしは 知惠ある 者の 知惠を 滅ぼし， ／賢い 者の 賢さを 意味のないものにする． 」
- 知惠のある 人はどこにいる． 學者はどこにいる． この 世の 論客はどこにいる． 神は 世の 知惠を 愚かなものにされたではないか．
- 世は 自分の 知惠で 神を 知ることができませんでした． それは 神の 知惠にかなっています． そこで 神は， 宣敎という 愚かな 手段によって 信じる 者を 救おうと， お 考えになったのです．
- ユダヤ 人はしるしを 求め， ギリシア 人は 知惠を 探しますが，

- For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- For it is written, "I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE."
- Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
- For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
- For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;

- わたしたちは， 十字架につけられた キリスト を 宣べ 傳えています． すなわち， ユダヤ 人にはつまずかせるもの， 異邦人には 愚かなものですが，
- ユダヤ 人であろうが ギリシア 人であろうが， 召された 者には， 神の 力， 神の 知惠である キリスト を 宣べ 傳えているのです．
- 神の 愚かさは 人よりも 賢く， 神の 弱さは 人よりも 强いからです．
- 兄弟たち， あなたがたが 召されたときのことを， 思い 起こしてみなさい． 人間的に 見て 知惠のある 者が 多かったわけではなく， 能力のある 者や， 家柄のよい 者が 多かったわけでもありません．
- ところが， 神は 知惠ある 者に 恥をかかせるため， 世の 無學な 者を 選び， 力ある 者に 恥をかかせるため， 世の 無力な 者を 選ばれました．

- but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,
- but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
- Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
- For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
- but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,

- また， 神は 地位のある 者を 無力な 者とするため， 世の 無に 等しい 者， 身分の 卑しい 者や 見下げられている 者を 選ばれたのです．
- それは， だれ 一人， 神の 前で 誇ることがないようにするためです．
- 神によってあなたがたは キリスト · イエス に 結ばれ， この キリスト は， わたしたちにとって 神の 知惠となり， 義と 聖と ·いとなられたのです．
- 「誇る 者は 主を 誇れ 」と 書いてあるとおりになるためです．

- and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,
- so that no man may boast before God.
- But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
- so that, just as it is written, "LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD."
