- 長老は， 非難される 点がなく， 一人の 妻の 夫であり， その 子供たちも 信者であって， 放蕩を 責められたり， 不從順であったりしてはなりません．
- 監督は 神から 任命された 管理者であるので， 非難される 点があってはならないのです． わがままでなく， すぐに 怒らず， 酒におぼれず， 亂暴でなく， 恥ずべき 利益をむさぼらず，
- かえって， 客を 親切にもてなし， 善を 愛し， 分別があり， 正しく， 淸く， 自分を 制し，
- 敎えに 適う 信賴すべき 言葉をしっかり 守る 人でなければなりません． そうでないと， 健全な 敎えに 從って 勸めたり， 反對者の 主張を 論破したりすることもできないでしょう．

- namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.
- For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,
- but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,
- holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.
