	창세기 28:1-29:35 하란으로 가던 야곱은 들에서 잠자던 중에 꿈 속에서 하나님을 만났다. 이에 야곱은 그 곳에 단을 쌓고 하나님께 서원하였다. 하란에 도착한 야곱은 외삼촌 라반의 집에서 그의 딸 라헬을 얻기 위해 7년 간 봉사했으나 라반의 속임수로 언니인 레아를 아내로 맞았다. 야곱은 라헬을 얻기 위해 다시 7년 간 봉사했다.

	벧엘에서 하나님을 만남(28:1-28:22)

イサクはヤコブを呼び寄せ，彼を祝福し，そして彼に命じて言った．「カナンの娘たちの中から妻をめとってはならない．

さあ，立って，パダン · アラムの，おまえの母の父ベトエルの家に行き，そこで母の兄ラバンの娘たちの中から妻をめとりなさい．

全能の神がおまえを祝福し，多くの子どもを與え，おまえをふえさせてくださるように．そして，おまえが多くの民のつどいとなるように．

神はアブラハムの祝福を，おまえと，おまえとともにいるおまえの子孫とに授け，神がアブラハムに下さった地，おまえがいま寄留しているこの地を繼がせてくださるように．」

So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him and commanded him: "Do not marry a Canaanite woman.

Go at once to Paddan Aram, to the house of your mother's father Bethuel. Take a wife for yourself there, from among the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples.

May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, the land God gave to Abraham."

Then Isaac sent Jacob on his way, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, who was the mother of Jacob and Esau.

エサウは，イサクがヤコブを祝福し，彼をパダン · アラムに送り出して，そこから妻をめとるように，彼を祝福して彼に命じ，カナンの娘たちから妻をめとってはならないと言ったこと，

Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and had sent him to Paddan Aram to take a wife from there, and that when he blessed him he commanded him, "Do not marry a Canaanite woman,"

and that Jacob had obeyed his father and mother and had gone to Paddan Aram.

Esau then realized how displeasing the Canaanite women were to his father Isaac;

so he went to Ishmael and married Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham, in addition to the wives he already had.

Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran.

ある所に着いたとき，ちょうど日が沈んだので，そこで一夜を明かすことにした．彼はその所の石の一つを取り，それを枕にして，その場所で橫になった．

見よ．わたしはあなたとともにあり，あなたがどこへ行っても，あなたを守り，あなたをこの地に連れ戾そう．わたしは，あなたに約束したことを成し遂げるまで，決してあなたを捨てない．」

When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.

He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

There above it stood the LORD, and he said: "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.

Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."

ヤコブは眠りからさめて，「まことに主がこの所におられるのに，私はそれを知らなかった．」と言った．

彼は恐れおののいて，また言った．「この場所は，なんとおそれおおいことだろう．こここそ神の家にほかならない．ここは天の門だ．」

翌朝早く，ヤコブは自分が枕にした石を取り，それを石の柱として立て，その上に油をそそいだ．

そして，その場所の名をベテルと呼んだ．しかし，その町の名は，以前はルズであった．

それからヤコブは誓願を立てて言った．「神が私とともにおられ，私が行くこの旅路で私を守ってくださり，私に食べるパンと着る着物を賜わり，

When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it."

He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."

Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.

He called that place Bethel, though the city used to be called Luz.

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear

私が無事に父の家に歸ることができ，主が私の神となってくださるので，

私が石の柱として立てたこの石は神の家となり，すべてあなたが私に賜わる物の十分の一を私は必ずあなたにささげます．」

so that I return safely to my father's house, then the LORD will be my God

and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth."

	야곱의 결혼(29:1-29:35)

ヤコブは旅を續けて，東の人¿の國へ行った．

ふと彼が見ると，野に一つの井戶があった．そしてその井戶のかたわらに，三つの羊の群れが伏していた．その井戶から群れに水を飮ませることになっていたからである．その井戶の口の上にある石は大きかった．

群れが全部そこに集められたとき，その石を井戶の口からころがして，羊に水を飮ませ，そうしてまた，その石を井戶の口のもとの所に戾すことになっていた．

ヤコブがその人たちに，「兄弟たちよ．あなたがたはどこの方ですか．」と尋ねると，彼らは，「私たちはカランの者です．」と答えた．

それでヤコブは，「あなたがたはナホルの子ラバンをご存じですか．」と尋ねると，彼らは，「知っています．」と答えた．

Then Jacob continued on his journey and came to the land of the eastern peoples.

There he saw a well in the field, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well. The stone over the mouth of the well was large.

When all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone away from the well's mouth and water the sheep. Then they would return the stone to its place over the mouth of the well.

Jacob asked the shepherds, "My brothers, where are you from?" "We're from Haran," they replied.

He said to them, "Do you know Laban, Nahor's grandson?" "Yes, we know him," they answered.

ヤコブはまた，彼らに尋ねた．「あの人は元氣ですか．」すると彼らは，「元氣です．ご覽なさい．あの人の娘ラケルが羊を連れて來ています．」と言った．

ヤコブは言った．「ご覽なさい．日はまだ高いし，群れを集める時間でもありません．羊に水を飮ませて，また行って，群れをお飼いなさい．」

すると彼らは言った．「全部の群れが集められるまでは，そうできないのです．集まったら，井戶の口から石をころがし，羊に水を飮ませるのです．」

ヤコブがまだ彼らと話しているとき，ラケルが父の羊の群れを連れてやって來た．彼女は羊飼いであったからである．

ヤコブが，自分の母の兄ラバンの娘ラケルと，母の兄ラバンの羊の群れを見ると，すぐ近寄って行って，井戶の口の上の石をころがし，母の兄ラバンの羊の群れに水を飮ませた．

Then Jacob asked them, "Is he well?" "Yes, he is," they said, "and here comes his daughter Rachel with the sheep."

"Look," he said, "the sun is still high; it is not time for the flocks to be gathered. Water the sheep and take them back to pasture."

"We can't," they replied, "until all the flocks are gathered and the stone has been rolled away from the mouth of the well. Then we will water the sheep."

While he was still talking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was a shepherdess.

When Jacob saw Rachel daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, and Laban's sheep, he went over and rolled the stone away from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle's sheep.

そうしてヤコブはラケルに口づけし，聲をあげて泣いた．

ヤコブが，自分は彼女の父の親類であり，リベカの子であることをラケルに告げたので，彼女は走って行って，父にそのことを告げた．

ラバンは，妹の子ヤコブのことを聞くとすぐ，彼を迎えに走って行き，彼を抱いて，口づけした．そして彼を自分の家に連れて來た．ヤコブはラバンに，事の次第のすべてを話した．

ラバンは彼に，「あなたはほんとうに私の骨肉です．」と言った．こうしてヤコブは彼のところに一か月滯在した．

Then Jacob kissed Rachel and began to weep aloud.

He had told Rachel that he was a relative of her father and a son of Rebekah. So she ran and told her father.

As soon as Laban heard the news about Jacob, his sister's son, he hurried to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his home, and there Jacob told him all these things.

Then Laban said to him, "You are my own flesh and blood." After Jacob had stayed with him for a whole month,

Laban said to him, "Just because you are a relative of mine, should you work for me for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be."

ラバンにはふたりの娘があった．姉の名はレア，妹の名はラケルであった．

レアの目は弱¿しかったが，ラケルは姿も顔だちも美しかった．

ヤコブはラケルを愛していた．それで，「私はあなたの下の娘ラケルのために七年間あなたに仕えましょう．」と言った．

するとラバンは，「娘を他人にやるよりは，あなたにあげるほうが良い．私のところにとどまっていなさい．」と言った．

ヤコブはラケルのために七年間仕えた．ヤコブは彼女を愛していたので，それもほんの數日のように思われた．

Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.

Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful.

Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel."

Laban said, "It's better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me."

So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.

ヤコブはラバンに申し出た．「私の妻を下さい．期間も滿了したのですから．私は彼女のところにはいりたいのです．」

そこでラバンは，その所の人¿をみな集めて祝宴を催した．

夕方になって，ラバンはその娘レアをとり，彼女をヤコブのところに行かせたので，ヤコブは彼女のところにはいった．

ラバンはまた，娘のレアに自分の女奴隷ジルパを彼女の女奴隷として與えた．

朝になって，見ると，それはレアであった．それで彼はラバンに言った．「何ということを私になさったのですか．私があなたに仕えたのは，ラケルのためではなかったのですか．なぜ，私をだましたのですか．」

Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to lie with her."

So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast.

But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and Jacob lay with her.

And Laban gave his servant girl Zilpah to his daughter as her maidservant.

When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn't I? Why have you deceived me?"

ラバンは答えた．「われわれのところでは，長女より先に下の娘をとつがせるようなことはしないのです．

それで，この婚禮の週を過ごしなさい．そうすれば，あの娘もあなたにあげましょう．その代わり，あなたはもう七年間，私に仕えなければなりません．」

ヤコブはそのようにした．すなわち，その婚禮の週を過ごした．それでラバンはその娘ラケルを彼に妻として與えた．

ラバンは娘ラケルに，自分の女奴隷ビルハを彼女の女奴隷として與えた．

ヤコブはこうして，ラケルのところにもはいった．ヤコブはレアよりも，實はラケルを愛していた．それで，もう七年間ラバンに仕えた．

Laban replied, "It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one.

Finish this daughter's bridal week; then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work."

And Jacob did so. He finished the week with Leah, and then Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife.

Laban gave his servant girl Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her maidservant.

Jacob lay with Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he worked for Laban another seven years.

主はレアがきらわれているのをご覽になって，彼女の胎を開かれた．しかしラケルは不妊の女であった．

レアはみごもって，男の子を産み，その子をルベンと名づけた．それは彼女が，「主が私の惱みをご覽になった．今こそ夫は私を愛するであろう．」と言ったからである．

彼女はまたみごもって，男の子を産み，「主は私がきらわれているのを聞かれて，この子をも私に授けてくださった．」と言って，その子をシメオンと名づけた．

彼女はまたみごもって，男の子を産み，「今度こそ，夫は私に結びつくだろう．私が彼に三人の子を産んだのだから．」と言った．それゆえ，その子はレビと呼ばれた．

彼女はまたみごもって，男の子を産み，「今度は主をほめたたえよう．」と言った．それゆえ，その子を彼女はユダと名づけた．それから彼女は子を産まなくなった．

When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.

Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now."

She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Because the LORD heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too." So she named him Simeon.

Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons." So he was named Levi.

She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "This time I will praise the LORD." So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
