- 主人が 眞夜中に 歸っても， 夜明けに 歸っても， いつでもそのようであることを 見られるなら， そのしもべたちは 幸いです．
- このことを 知っておきなさい． もしも 家の 主人が， どろぼうの 來る 時間を 知っていたなら， おめおめと 自分の 家に 押し 入られはしなかったでしょう．

- ところが， もし， そのしもべが， 『主人の 歸りはまだだ． 』と 心の 中で 思い， 下男や 下女を 打ちたたき， 食べたり 飮んだり， 酒に 醉ったりし 始めると，
- しもべの 主人は， 思いがけない 日の 思わぬ 時間に 歸って 來ます． そして， 彼をきびしく 罰して， 不忠實な 者どもと 同じめに 合わせるに 違いありません．
- 主人の 心を 知りながら， その 思いどおりに 用意もせず， ¿きもしなかったしもべは， ひどくむち 打たれます．
- しかし， 知らずにいたために， むち 打たれるようなことをしたしもべは， 打たれても， 少しで 濟みます． すべて， 多く 與えられた 者は 多く 求められ， 多く 任された 者は 多く 要求されます．
