로마서

본서는 로마 교회를 수신자로 쓰여진 바울의 서신이다. 로마는 온갖 사상과 종교가 범람하는 곳이었기 때문에, 바울은 그리스도교의 진리의 체계를 분명히 제시하여 로마에 있는 그리스도인들의 신앙을 확립시키고자 본서를 기록한 것이다.

본서를 통하여 바울은 ‘믿음으로 의에 이르며 구원을 얻는다’는 기독교의 구원 교리를 제시하고, 의롭다함을 받는 결과는 하나님과 화목되는 것이며, 죄와 율법과 죽음으로부터의 자유를 누리게 되는 진리를 강조하고 있다. 또한 성도의 삶은 믿음에 기초한 삶이어야 함을 교훈하고, 의의 실천을 권면하면서 앞으로의 선교 계획을 밝히고 있다.

	로마서 1:1-1:17 바울은 로마 교인들에게 자신을 이방인의 사도로 소개한 후, 로마 방문에 대한 자신의 열망을 밝혔다. 또한 본서의 핵심 주제인 이신득의(以信得義), 즉 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭게 됨에 대하여 설명하였다.

	인사말(1:1-1:7)

神の福音のために選び分けられ，使徒として召されたキリスト · イエスのしもべパウロ，

··この福音は，神がその預言者たちを通して，聖書において前から約束されたもので，

御子に關することです．御子は，肉によればダビデの子孫として生まれ，

聖い御靈によれば，死者の中からの復活により，大能によって公に神の御子として示された方，私たちの主イエス · キリストです．

このキリストによって，私たちは惠みと使徒の務めを受けました．それは，御名のためにあらゆる國の人¿の中に信仰の從順をもたらすためなのです．

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--

the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures

regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,

and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

あなたがたも，それらの人¿の中にあって，イエス · キリストによって召された人¿です． ··このパウロから，

ロ ― マにいるすべての，神に愛されている人¿，召された聖徒たちへ．私たちの父なる神と主イエス · キリストから惠みと平安があなたがたの上にありますように．

And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

	믿음을 통한 구원(1:8-1:17)

まず第一に，あなたがたすべてのために，私はイエス · キリストによって私の神に感謝します．それは，あなたがたの信仰が全世界に言い傳えられているからです．

私が御子の福音を宣べ傳えつつ靈をもって仕えている神があかししてくださることですが，私はあなたがたのことを思わぬ時はなく，

いつも祈りのたびごとに，神のみこころによって，何とかして，今度はついに道が開かれて，あなたがたのところに行けるようにと願っています．

私があなたがたに會いたいと切に望むのは，御靈の賜物をいくらかでもあなたがたに分けて，あなたがたを强くしたいからです．

というよりも，あなたがたの間にいて，あなたがたと私との互いの信仰によって，ともに勵ましを受けたいのです．

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you

in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong--

that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.

兄弟たち．ぜひ知っておいていただきたい．私はあなたがたの中でも，ほかの國の人¿の中で得たと同じように，いくらかの實を得ようと思って，何度もあなたがたのところに行こうとしたのですが，今なお妨げられているのです．

私は，ギリシヤ人にも未開人にも，知識のある人にも知識のない人にも，返さなければならない負債を負っています．

ですから，私としては，ロ ― マにいるあなたがたにも，ぜひ福音を傳えたいのです．

私は福音を恥とは思いません．福音は，ユダヤ人をはじめギリシヤ人にも，信じるすべての人にとって，救いを得させる神の力です．

なぜなら，福音のうちには神の義が啓示されていて，その義は，信仰に始まり信仰に進ませるからです．「義人は信仰によって生きる．」と書いてあるとおりです．

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.

That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
