- というのは， 世界の 相續人となるという 約束が， アブラハム に， あるいはまた， その 子孫に 與えられたのは， 律法によってではなく， 信仰の 義によったからです．
- もし 律法による 者が 相續人であるとするなら， 信仰はむなしくなり， 約束は 無效になってしまいます．
- 律法は 怒りを 招くものであり， 律法のないところには 違反もありません．
- そのようなわけで， 世界の 相續人となることは， 信仰によるのです． それは， 惠みによるためであり， こうして 約束がすべての 子孫に， すなわち， 律法を 持っている 人¿にだけでなく， アブラハム の 信仰にならう 人¿にも 保證されるためなのです． 「わたしは， あなたをあらゆる 國の 人¿の 父とした． 」と 書いてあるとおりに， アブラハム は 私たちすべての 者の 父なのです．
- このことは， 彼が 信じた 神， すなわち 死者を 生かし， 無いものを 有るもののようにお 呼びになる 方の 御前で， そうなのです．

- It was not through law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
- For if those who live by law are heirs, faith has no value and the promise is worthless,
- because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
- Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
- As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

- 彼は 望みえないときに 望みを 抱いて 信じました． それは， 「あなたの 子孫はこのようになる． 」と 言われていたとおりに， 彼があらゆる 國の 人¿の 父となるためでした．
- アブラハム は， およそ 百歲になって， 自分のからだが 死んだも 同然であることと， サラ の 胎の 死んでいることとを 認めても， その 信仰は 弱りませんでした．
- 彼は， 不信仰によって 神の 約束を 疑うようなことをせず， 反對に， 信仰がますます 强くなって， 神に 榮光を 歸し，
- 神には 約束されたことを 成就する 力があることを 堅く 信じました．
- だからこそ， それが 彼の 義とみなされたのです．

- Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
- Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead.
- Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
- being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
- This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness."

- しかし， 「彼の 義とみなされた． 」と 書いてあるのは， ただ 彼のためだけでなく，
- また 私たちのためです． すなわち， 私たちの 主 イエス を 死者の 中からよみがえらせた 方を 信じる 私たちも， その 信仰を 義とみなされるのです．
- 主 イエス は， 私たちの 罪のために 死に 渡され， 私たちが 義と 認められるために， よみがえられたからです．

- The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,
- but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
- He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
