창세기 37:1-38:30

 아버지의 사랑을 독차지하고 두 번에 걸친 자신의 꿈 이야기를 자랑하는 요셉을 시기하고 질투한 형들이 음모로 꾸며 요셉을 종으로 팔았다. 한편 세 아들을 둔 유다는 야웨 앞에서 행위가 악한 장자와 둘째 아들을 잃었고, 맏며느리 다말은 장성한 셋째 아들을 통해서도 후사를 잇지 못하게 되자 꾀를 내어 시부인 유다와 동침하여 베레스와 세라를 낳았다.
  
  요셉의 꿈(37:1-37:36)    
 
  1. ヤコブ は， 父が 一時滯在していた 地， カナン の 地に 住んでいた．
  2. これは ヤコブ の 歷史である． ヨセフ は 十七歲のとき， 彼の 兄たちと 羊の 群れを 飼っていた． 彼はまだ 手傳いで， 父の 妻 ビルハ の 子らや ジルパ の 子らといっしょにいた． ヨセフ は 彼らの 惡いうわさを 父に 告げた．
  3. イスラエル は， 彼の 息子たちのだれよりも ヨセフ を 愛していた． それは ヨセフ が 彼の 年寄り 子であったからである． それで 彼は ヨセフ に， そでつきの 長服を 作ってやっていた．
  4. 彼の 兄たちは， 父が 兄弟たちのだれよりも 彼を 愛しているのを 見て， 彼を 憎み， 彼と 穩やかに 話すことができなかった．
  5. あるとき， ヨセフ は 夢を 見て， それを 兄たちに 告げた． すると 彼らは， ますます 彼を 憎むようになった．
  1. And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
  2. These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
  3. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
  4. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
  5. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
  1. ヨセフ は 彼らに 言った． 「どうか 私の 見たこの 夢を 聞いてください．
  2. 見ると， 私たちは 畑で 束をたばねていました． すると 突然， 私の 束が 立ち 上がり， しかもまっすぐに 立っているのです． 見ると， あなたがたの 束が 回りに 來て， 私の 束におじぎをしました． 」
  3. 兄たちは 彼に 言った． 「おまえは 私たちを 治める 王になろうとするのか． 私たちを 支配しようとでも 言うのか． 」こうして 彼らは， 夢のことや， ことばのことで， 彼をますます 憎むようになった．
  4. ヨセフ はまた， ほかの 夢を 見て， それを 兄たちに 話した． 彼は， 「また， 私は 夢を 見ましたよ． 見ると， 太陽と 月と 十一の 星が 私を 伏し 拜んでいるのです． 」と 言った．
  5. ヨセフ が 父や 兄たちに 話したとき， 父は 彼をしかって 言った． 「おまえの 見た 夢は， いったい 何なのだ． 私や， おまえの 母上， 兄さんたちが， おまえのところに 進み 出て， 地に 伏しておまえを 拜むとでも 言うのか． 」
  1. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
  2. For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
  3. And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
  4. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
  5. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
  1. 兄たちは 彼をねたんだが， 父はこのことを 心に 留めていた．
  2. その 後， 兄たちは シェケム で 父の 羊の 群れを 飼うために 出かけて 行った．
  3. それで， イスラエル は ヨセフ に 言った． 「お 前の 兄さんたちは シェケム で 群れを 飼っている． さあ， あの 人たちのところに 使いに 行ってもらいたい． 」すると 答えた． 「はい． まいります． 」
  4. また 言った． 「さあ， 行って 兄さんたちや， 羊の 群れが 無事であるかを 見て， そのことを 私に 知らせに 歸って 來ておくれ． 」こうして 彼を ヘブロン の 谷から 使いにやった． それで 彼は シェケム に 行った．
  5. 彼が 野をさまよっていると， ひとりの 人が 彼に 出會った． その 人は 尋ねて 言った． 「何を 搜しているのですか． 」
  1. And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
  2. And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
  3. And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
  4. And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
  5. And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
  1. ヨセフ は 言った． 「私は 兄たちを 搜しているところです． どこで 群れを 飼っているか 敎えてください． 」
  2. するとその 人は 言った． 「ここから， もう 立って 行ったはずです． あの 人たちが， 『ドタン のほうに 行こうではないか． 』と 言っているのを 私が 聞いたからです． 」そこで ヨセフ は 兄たちのあとを 追って 行き， ドタン で 彼らを 見つけた．
  3. 彼らは， ヨセフ が 彼らの 近くに 來ないうちに， はるかかなたに， 彼を 見て， 彼を 殺そうとたくらんだ．
  4. 彼らは 互いに 言った． 「見ろ． あの 夢見る 者がやって 來る．
  5. さあ， 今こそ 彼を 殺し， どこかの 穴に 投げ ¿んで， 惡い ¿が 食い 殺したと 言おう． そして， あれの 夢がどうなるかを 見ようではないか． 」
  1. And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.
  2. And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
  3. And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
  4. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
  5. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
  1. しかし， ルベン はこれを 聞き， 彼らの 手から 彼を 救い 出そうとして， 「あの 子のいのちを 打ってはならない． 」と 言った．

  1. And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.
  2. And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
  3. And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
  4. And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
  5. And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
  1. すると， ユダ が 兄弟たちに 言った． 「弟を 殺し， その 血を 隱したとて， 何の 益になろう．
  2. さあ， ヨセフ を イシュマエル 人に 賣ろう． われわれが 彼に 手をかけてはならない． 彼はわれわれの 肉親の 弟だから． 」兄弟たちは 彼の 言うことを 聞き 入れた．
  3. そのとき， ミデヤン 人の 商人が 通りかかった． それで 彼らは ヨセフ を 穴から 引き 上げ， ヨセフ を 銀二十枚で イシュマエル 人に 賣った． イシュマエル 人は ヨセフ を エジプト へ 連れて 行った．
  4. さて， ルベン が 穴のところに 歸って 來ると， なんと， ヨセフ は 穴の 中にいなかった． 彼は 自分の 着物を 引き 裂き，
  5. 兄弟たちのところに 戾って， 言った． 「あの 子がいない． ああ， 私はどこへ 行ったらよいのか． 」
  1. And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
  2. Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
  3. Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
  4. And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.
  5. And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?
  1. 彼らは ヨセフ の 長服を 取り， 雄やぎをほふって， その 血に， その 長服を 浸した．
  2. そして， そのそでつきの 長服を 父のところに 持って 行き， 彼らは， 「これを 私たちが 見つけました． どうか， あなたの 子の 長服であるかどうか， お 調べになってください． 」と 言った．
  3. 父は， それを 調べて， 言った． 「これはわが 子の 長服だ． 惡い ¿にやられたのだ． ヨセフ はかみ 裂かれたのだ． 」
  4. ヤコブ は 自分の 着物を 引き 裂き， 荒布を 腰にまとい， 幾日もの 間， その 子のために 泣き 悲しんだ．
  5. 彼の 息子， 娘たちがみな， 來て， 父を 慰めたが， 彼は 慰められることを 拒み， 「私は， 泣き 悲しみながら， よみにいるわが 子のところに 下って 行きたい． 」と 言った． こうして 父は， その 子のために 泣いた．
  1. And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
  2. And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no.
  3. And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
  4. And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
  5. And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
  1. あの ミデヤン 人は エジプト で， パロ の 廷臣， その 侍從長 ポティファル に ヨセフ を 賣った．
  1. And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
 
  유다와 다말의 근친 상간(38:1-38:30)    
 
  1. そのころのことであった． ユダ は 兄弟たちから 離れて 下って 行き， その 名を ヒラ という アドラム 人の 近くで 天幕を 張った．
  2. そこで ユダ は， ある カナン 人で， その 名を シュア という 人の 娘を 見そめ， 彼女をめとって 彼女のところにはいった．
  3. 彼女はみごもり， 男の 子を 産んだ． 彼はその 子を エル と 名づけた．
  4. 彼女はまたみごもって， 男の 子を 産み， その 子を オナン と 名づけた．
  5. 彼女はさらにまた 男の 子を 産み， その 子を シェラ と 名づけた． 彼女が シェラ を 産んだとき， 彼は ケジブ にいた．
  1. And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.
  2. And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.
  3. And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er.
  4. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.
  5. And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him.
  1. ユダ は， その 長子 エル に タマル という 妻を 迎えた．
  2. しかし ユダ の 長子 エル は 主を 怒らせていたので， 主は 彼を 殺した．
  3. それで ユダ は オナン に 言った． 「あなたは 兄嫁のところにはいり， 義弟としての 務めを 果たしなさい． そしてあなたの 兄のために 子孫を 起こすようにしなさい． 」
  4. しかし オナン は， その 生まれる 子が 自分のものとならないのを 知っていたので， 兄に 子孫を 與えないために， 兄嫁のところにはいると， 地に 流していた．
  5. 彼のしたことは 主を 怒らせたので， 主は 彼をも 殺した．
  1. And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.
  2. And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him.
  3. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
  4. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
  5. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
  1. そこで ユダ は， 嫁の タマル に， 「わが 子 シェラ が 成人するまで， あなたの 父の 家でやもめのままでいなさい． 」と 言った． それは シェラ もまた， 兄たちのように 死ぬといけないと 思ったからである． タマル は 父の 家に 行き， そこに 住むようになった．
  2. かなり 日がたって， シュア の 娘であった ユダ の 妻が 死んだ． その 喪が 明けたとき， ユダ は， 羊の 群れの 毛を 切るために， その 友人で アドラム 人の ヒラ といっしょに， ティムナ へ 上って 行った．
  3. そのとき， タマル に， 「ご 覽． あなたのしゅうとが 羊の 毛を 切るために ティムナ に 上って 來ていますよ． 」と 告げる 者があった．
  4. それで タマル は， やもめの 服を 脫ぎ， ベ ― ル をかぶり， 着替えをして， ティムナ への 道にある エナイム の 入口にすわっていた． それは シェラ が 成人したのに， 自分がその 妻にされないのを 知っていたからである．
  5. ユダ は， 彼女を 見たとき， 彼女が 顔をおおっていたので 遊女だと 思い，
  1. Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.
  2. And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
  3. And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
  4. And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
  5. When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
  1. 道ばたの 彼女のところに 行き， 「さあ， あなたのところにはいろう． 」と 言った． 彼はその 女が 自分の 嫁だとは 知らなかったからである． 彼女は， 「私のところにおはいりになれば， 何を 私に 下さいますか． 」と 言った．
  2. 彼が， 「群れの 中から 子やぎを 送ろう． 」と 言うと， 彼女は， 「それを 送ってくださるまで， 何かおしるしを 下されば． 」と 言った．
  3. それで 彼が， 「しるしとして 何をあげようか． 」と 言うと， 「あなたの 印形とひもと， あなたが 手にしている 杖． 」と 答えた． そこで 彼はそれを 與えて， 彼女のところにはいった． こうして タマル は 彼によってみごもった．
  4. 彼女は 立ち 去って， その ベ ― ル をはずし， またやもめの 服を 着た．
  5. ユダ は， 彼女の 手からしるしを 取り 戾そうと， アドラム 人の 友人に 託して， 子やぎを 送ったが， 彼はその 女を 見つけることができなかった．
  1. And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
  2. And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
  3. And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
  4. And she arose, and went away, and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.
  5. And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not.
  1. その 友人は， そこの 人¿に 尋ねて， 「エナイム の 道ばたにいた 遊女はどこにいますか． 」と 言うと， 彼らは， 「ここには 遊女はいたことがない． 」と 答えた．
  2. それで 彼は ユダ のところに 歸って 來て 言った． 「あの 女は 見つかりませんでした． あそこの 人たちも， ここには 遊女はいたことがない， と 言いました． 」
  3. ユダ は 言った． 「われわれが 笑いぐさにならないために， あの 女にそのまま 取らせておこう． 私はこのとおり， この 子やぎを 送ったのに， あなたがあの 女を 見つけなかったのだから． 」
  4. 約三か 月して， ユダ に， 「あなたの 嫁の タマル が 賣春をし， そのうえ， お 聞きください， その 賣春によってみごもっているのです． 」と 告げる 者があった． そこで ユダ は 言った． 「あの 女を 引き 出して， 燒き 殺せ． 」
  5. 彼女が 引き 出されたとき， 彼女はしゅうとのところに 使いをやり， 「これらの 品¿の 持ち 主によって， 私はみごもったのです． 」と 言わせた． そしてまた 彼女は 言った． 「これらの 印形とひもと 杖とが， だれのものかをお 調べください． 」
  1. Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
  2. And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
  3. And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.
  4. And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
  5. When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
  1. ユダ はこれを 見定めて 言った． 「あの 女は 私よりも 正しい． 私が 彼女を， わが 子 シェラ に 與えなかったことによるものだ． 」こうして 彼は 再び 彼女を 知ろうとはしなかった．
  2. 彼女の 出産の 時になると， なんと， ふたごがその 胎內にいた．
  3. 出産のとき， 一つの 手が 出て 來たので， 助産婦はそれをつかみ， その 手に 眞赤な 絲を 結びつけて 言った． 「この 子が 最初に 出て 來たのです． 」
  4. しかし， その 子が 手を 引っ ¿めたとき， もうひとりの 兄弟のほうが 出て 來た． それで 彼女は， 「あなたは 何であなたのために 割りこむのです． 」と 言った． それでその 名は ペレツ と 呼ばれた．
  5. そのあとで， 眞赤な 絲をつけたもうひとりの 兄弟が 出て 來た． それでその 名は ゼラフ と 呼ばれた．
  1. And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
  2. And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.
  3. And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
  4. And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
  5. And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
