	출애굽기 19:1-20:26 시내 광야에서 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성들과 언약을 맺기 위하여 모세를 통해 율법 이행에 관한 확약을 받고 성결을 요구하셨다. 그 후 하나님께서는 시내 산에 강림하셔서 모세에게 백성들이 지켜야 할 십계명을 주시고, 하나님의 강림을 두려워하는 백성들에게 번제와 화목제를 드릴 것을 명하셨다.

	시내 산 언약 체결 준비(19:1-19:25)

エジプトの地を出たイスラエル人は，第三の月の新月のその日に，シナイの荒野にはいった．

彼らはレフィディムを旅立って，シナイの荒野にはいり，その荒野で宿營した．イスラエルはそこで，山のすぐ前に宿營した．

モ ― セは神のみもとに上って行った．主は山から彼を呼んで仰せられた．「あなたは，このように，ヤコブの家に言い，イスラエルの人¿に告げよ．

あなたがたは，わたしがエジプトにしたこと，また，あなたがたをわしの翼に載せ，わたしのもとに連れて來たことを見た．

今，もしあなたがたが，まことにわたしの聲に聞き從い，わたしの契約を守るなら，あなたがたはすべての國¿の民の中にあって，わたしの寶となる．全世界はわたしのものであるから．

In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

あなたがたはわたしにとって祭司の王國，聖なる國民となる．これが，イスラエル人にあなたの語るべきことばである．」

モ ― セは行って，民の長老たちを呼び寄せ，主が命じられたこれらのことばをみな，彼らの前に述べた．

すると民はみな口をそろえて答えた．「私たちは主が仰せられたことを，みな行ないます．」それでモ ― セは民のことばを主に持って歸った．

すると，主はモ ― セに仰せられた．「見よ．わたしは濃い雲の中で，あなたに臨む．わたしがあなたと語るのを民が聞き，いつまでもあなたを信じるためである．」それからモ ― セは民のことばを主に告げた．

主はモ ― セに仰せられた．「あなたは民のところに行き，きょうとあす，彼らを聖別し，自分たちの着物を洗わせよ．

And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.

And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

彼らは三日目のために用意をせよ．三日目には，主が民全體の目の前で，シナイ山に降りて來られるからである．

あなたは民のために，周圍に境を設けて言え．山に登ったり，その境界に觸れたりしないように注意しなさい．山に觸れる者は，だれでも必ず殺されなければならない．

それに手を觸れてはならない．觸れる者は必ず石で打ち殺されるか，刺し殺される． ¿でも，人でも，生かしておいてはならない．しかし雄羊の角が長く鳴り響くとき，彼らは山に登って來なければならない．」

それでモ ― セは山から民のところに降りて來た．そして，民を聖別し，彼らに自分たちの着物を洗わせた．

モ ― セは民に言った．「三日目のために用意をしなさい．女に近づいてはならない．」

And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:

There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.

And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.

And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at your wives.

三日目の朝になると，山の上に雷といなずまと密雲があり，角笛の音が非常に高く鳴り響いたので，宿營の中の民はみな震え上がった．

モ ― セは民を，神を迎えるために，宿營から連れ出した．彼らは山のふもとに立った．

シナイ山は全山が煙っていた．それは主が火の中にあって，山の上に降りて來られたからである．その煙は，かまどの煙のように立ち上り，全山が激しく震えた．

角笛の音が，いよいよ高くなった．モ ― セは語り，神は聲を出して，彼に答えられた．

主がシナイ山の頂に降りて來られ，主がモ ― セを山の頂に呼び寄せられたので，モ ― セは登って行った．

And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.

And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.

And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

主はモ ― セに仰せられた．「下って行って，民を戒めよ．主を見ようと，彼らが押し破って來て，多くの者が滅びるといけない．

主に近づく祭司たちもまた，その身をきよめなければならない．主が彼らに怒りを發しないために．」

モ ― セは主に申し上げた．「民はシナイ山に登ることはできません．あなたが私たちを戒められて，『山の回りに境を設け，それを聖なる地とせよ．』と仰せられたからです．」

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.

And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.

And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.

So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.

	십계명(20:1-20:26)

それから神はこれらのことばを，ことごとく告げて仰せられた．

「わたしは，あなたをエジプトの國，奴隷の家から連れ出した，あなたの神，主である．

あなたには，わたしのほかに，ほかの神¿があってはならない．

あなたは，自分のために，偶像を造ってはならない．上の天にあるものでも，下の地にあるものでも，地の下の水の中にあるものでも，どんな形をも造ってはならない．

それらを拜んではならない．それらに仕えてはならない．あなたの神，主であるわたしは，ねたむ神，わたしを憎む者には，父の咎を子に報い，三代，四代にまで及ぼし，

And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

わたしを愛し，わたしの命令を守る者には，惠みを千代にまで施すからである．

あなたは，あなたの神，主の御名を，みだりに唱えてはならない．主は，御名をみだりに唱える者を，罰せずにはおかない．

安息日を覺えて，これを聖なる日とせよ．

六日間， ¿いて，あなたのすべての仕事をしなければならない．

しかし七日目は，あなたの神，主の安息である．あなたはどんな仕事もしてはならない． ··あなたも，あなたの息子，娘，それにあなたの男奴隷や女奴隷，家畜，また，あなたの町圍みの中にいる在留異國人も． ··

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

それは主が六日のうちに，天と地と海，またそれらの中にいるすべてのものを造り，七日目に休まれたからである．それゆえ，主は安息日を祝福し，これを聖なるものと宣言された．

あなたの父と母を敬え．あなたの神，主が與えようとしておられる地で，あなたの齡が長くなるためである．

殺してはならない．

姦淫してはならない．

盜んではならない．

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

あなたの隣人に對し，僞りの證言をしてはならない．

あなたの隣人の家を欲しがってはならない．すなわち隣人の妻，あるいは，その男奴隷，女奴隷，牛，ろば，すべてあなたの隣人のものを，欲しがってはならない．」

民はみな，雷と，いなずま，角笛の音と，煙る山を目擊した．民は見て，たじろぎ，遠く離れて立った．

彼らはモ ― セに言った．「どうか，私たちに話してください．私たちは聞き從います．しかし，神が私たちにお話しにならないように．私たちが死ぬといけませんから．」

それでモ ― セは民に言った．「恐れてはいけません．神が來られたのはあなたがたを試みるためなのです．また，あなたがたに神への恐れが生じて，あなたがたが罪を犯さないためです．」

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

そこで，民は遠く離れて立ち，モ ― セは神のおられる暗やみに近づいて行った．

主はモ ― セに仰せられた．「あなたはイスラエル人にこう言わなければならない．あなたがた自身，わたしが天からあなたがたと話したのを見た．

あなたがたはわたしと ¿べて，銀の神¿を造ってはならない．また，あなたが� ス自身のために金の神¿も造ってはならない．

わたしのために土の祭壇を造り，その上で，羊と牛をあなたの全燒のいけにえとし，和解のいけにえとしてささげなければならない．わたしの名を覺えさせるすべての所で，わたしはあなたに臨み，あなたを祝福しよう．

あなたが石の祭壇をわたしのために造るなら，切り石でそれを築いてはならない．あなたが石に，のみを當てるなら，それを汚すことになる．

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

あなたは階段で，わたしの祭壇に上ってはならない．あなたの裸が，その上にあらわれてはならないからである．

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
