- 招かれた 人¿が 上座を 選んでいる 樣子に 氣づいておられた イエス は， 彼らにたとえを 話された．
- 「婚禮の 披露宴に 招かれたときには， 上座にすわってはいけません． あなたより 身分の 高い 人が， 招かれているかもしれないし，
- あなたやその 人を 招いた 人が 來て， 『この 人に 席を 讓ってください． 』とあなたに 言うなら， そのときあなたは 恥をかいて， 末席に 着かなければならないでしょう．
- 招かれるようなことがあって， 行ったなら， 末席に 着きなさい． そうしたら， あなたを 招いた 人が 來て， 『どうぞもっと 上席にお 進みください． 』と 言うでしょう． そのときは， 滿座の 中で 面目を 施すことになります．
- なぜなら， だれでも 自分を 高くする 者は 低くされ， 自分を 低くする 者は 高くされるからです． 」

- And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them.
- When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
- And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
- But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
- For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

- また， イエス は， 自分を 招いてくれた 人にも， こう 話された． 「¿食や 夕食のふるまいをするなら， 友人， 兄弟， 親族， 近所の 金持ちなどを 呼んではいけません． でないと， 今度は 彼らがあなたを 招いて， お 返しすることになるからです．
- 祝宴を 催すばあいには， むしろ， 貧しい 人， 不具の 人， 足なえ， 盲人たちを 招きなさい．
- その 人たちはお 返しができないので， あなたは 幸いです． 義人の 復活のときお 返しを 受けるからです． 」
- イエス といっしょに 食卓に 着いていた 客のひとりはこれを 聞いて， イエス に， 「神の 國で 食事する 人は， 何と 幸いなことでしょう． 」と 言った．
- すると イエス はこう 言われた． 「ある 人が 盛大な 宴會を 催し， 大ぜいの 人を 招いた．

- Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
- But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
- And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
- And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
- Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

- 宴會の 時刻になったのでしもべをやり， 招いておいた 人¿に， 『さあ， おいでください． もうすっかり， 用意ができましたから． 』と 言わせた．
- ところが， みな 同じように 斷わり 始めた． 最初の 人はこう 言った． 『畑を 買ったので， どうしても 見に 出かけなければなりません． すみませんが， お 斷わりさせていただきます． 』
- もうひとりはこう 言った． 『五くびきの 牛を 買ったので， それをためしに 行くところです． すみませんが， お 斷わりさせていただきます． 』
- また， 別の 人はこう 言った． 『結婚したので， 行くことができません． 』
- しもべは 歸って， このことを 主人に 報告した． すると， おこった 主人は， そのしもべに 言った． 『急いで 町の 大通りや 路地に 出て 行って， 貧しい 人や， 不具の 人や， 盲人や， 足なえをここに 連れて 來なさい． 』

- And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
- And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
- And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
- So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

- しもべは 言った． 『ご 主人さま． 仰せのとおりにいたしました． でも， まだ 席があります． 』
- 主人は 言った． 『街道や 垣根のところに 出かけて 行って， この 家がいっぱいになるように， 無理にでも 人¿を 連れて 來なさい．
- 言っておくが， あの 招待されていた 人たちの 中で， 私の 食事を 味わう 者は， ひとりもいないのです． 』」

- And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
- And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
- For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
