- またある 役人が， イエス に 質問して 言った． 「尊い 先生． 私は 何をしたら， 永遠のいのちを 自分のものとして 受けることができるでしょうか． 」
- イエス は 彼に 言われた． 「なぜ， わたしを『尊い 』と 言うのですか． 尊い 方は， 神おひとりのほかにはだれもありません．
- 戒めはあなたもよく 知っているはずです． 『姦淫してはならない． 殺してはならない． 盜んではならない． 僞證を 立ててはならない． 父と 母を 敬え． 』」
- すると 彼は 言った． 「そのようなことはみな， 小さい 時から 守っております． 」
- イエス はこれを 聞いて， その 人に 言われた． 「あなたには， まだ 一つだけ 欠けたものがあります． あなたの 持ち 物を 全部賣り 拂い， 貧しい 人¿に 分けてやりなさい． そうすれば， あなたは 天に 寶を 積むことになります． そのうえで， わたしについて 來なさい． 」

- And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
- And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
- Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
- And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
- Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

- すると 彼は， これを 聞いて， 非常に 悲しんだ． たいへんな 金持ちだったからである．
- イエス は 彼を 見てこう 言われた． 「裕福な 者が 神の 國にはいることは， 何とむずかしいことでしょう．
- 金持ちが 神の 國にはいるよりは， らくだが 針の 穴を 通るほうがもっとやさしい． 」
- これを 聞いた 人¿が 言った． 「それでは， だれが 救われることができるでしょう． 」
- イエス は 言われた． 「人にはできないことが， 神にはできるのです． 」

- And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
- And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
- For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
- And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
- And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

- すると， ペテロ が 言った． 「ご 覽ください． 私たちは 自分の 家を 捨てて 從ってまいりました． 」
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「まことに， あなたがたに 告げます． 神の 國のために， 家， 妻， 兄弟， 兩親， 子どもを 捨てた 者で， だれひとりとして，
- この 世にあってその 幾倍かを 受けない 者はなく， 後の 世で 永遠のいのちを 受けない 者はありません． 」

- Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
- And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
- Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
