- 私の 民よ． 私の 敎えを 耳に 入れ， 私の 口のことばに 耳を 傾けよ．
- 私は， 口を 開いて， たとえ 話を 語り， 昔からのなぞを 物語ろう．
- それは， 私たちが 聞いて， 知っていること， 私たちの 先祖が 語ってくれたこと．
- それを 私たちは 彼らの 子孫に 隱さず， 後の 時代に 語り 告げよう． 主への 贊美と 御力と， 主の 行なわれた 奇しいわざとを．
- 主は ヤコブ のうちにさとしを 置き， みおしえを イスラエル のうちに 定め， 私たちの 先祖たちに 命じて， これをその 子らに 敎えるようにされた．

- Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
- I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
- Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
- We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
- For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

- 後の 世代の 者， 生まれてくる 子らが， これを 知り， 彼らが 興り， これをその 子らにまた 語り 告げるため，
- 彼らが 神に 信賴し， 神のみわざを 忘れず， その 仰せを 守るためである．
- また 先祖たちのように， 彼らが， かたくなで， 逆らう 世代の 者， 心定まらず， たましいが 神に 忠實でない 世代の 者とならないためである．

- That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
- That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
- And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
