- エフライム の 人¿は， 矢をつがえて 弓を 射る 者であったが， 戰いの 日には 退却した．
- 彼らは， 神の 契約を 守らず， 神のおしえに 從って 步むことを 拒み，
- 神の 數¿のみわざと， 神が 見せてくださった 多くの 奇しいこととを 忘れてしまった．
- 神は， 彼らの 先祖たちの 前で， エジプト の 地， ツォアン の 野で， 奇しいわざを 行なわれた．
- 神は 海を 分けて 彼らを 通らせ， せきのように 水を 立てられた．

- The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
- They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
- And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
- Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
- He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

- 神は， ¿は 雲をもって， 彼らを 導き， 夜は， 夜通し 炎の 光で 彼らを 導いた．
- 荒野では 岩を 割り， 深い 水からのように 豊かに 飮ませられた．
- また， 岩から 數¿の 流れを 出し， 水を 川のように 流された．
- それなのに， 彼らはなおも 神に 罪を 犯し， 砂漠で， いと 高き 方に 逆らった．
- 彼らは 欲するままに 食べ 物を 求め， 心のうちで 神を 試みた．

- In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
- He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
- He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
- And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
- And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

- そのとき 彼らは 神に 逆らって， こう 言った． 「神は 荒野の 中で 食事を 備えることができようか．
- 確かに， 岩を 打たれると， 水がほとばしり 出て 流れがあふれた． だが， 神は， パン をも 與えることができようか． ご 自分の 民に 肉を 備えることができようか． 」
- それゆえ， 主は， これを 聞いて 激しく 怒られた． 火は ヤコブ に 向かって 燃え 上がり， 怒りもまた， イスラエル に 向かって 立ち 上った．
- これは， 彼らが 神を 信ぜず， 御救いに 信賴しなかったからである．

- Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
- Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
- Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
- Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
