사무엘상

본서는 지파 중심의 사사 체제에서 중앙 집권적 왕정 체제로의 변천 과정과 이스라엘을 통치하시는 하나님의 섭리, 즉 하나님께서는 인간의 삶뿐만 아니라 모든 민족의 삶을 주관하시는 것을 보여 주고 있다. 사무엘은 이스라엘의 초대 왕 사울과 그 뒤를 이은 다윗에게 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼음으로써 이스라엘의 왕정을 세우는 데 결정적인 역할을 했다.

본서는 사무엘(1-7장), 사울(8-15장), 다윗(16-31장)을 중심으로 하여 전개된다. 타락한 제사장들과 사사들 때문에 백성들이 왕을 세워 줄 것을 요구하자, 하나님께서는 사울을 왕으로 세우신다. 그러나 그가 불순종하자 그를 버리고 다윗에게 기름을 부어 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으신다.

	사무엘상 1:1-2:36 자식이 없어 고통을 당하던 한나는 하나님께 기도하고 통곡하며 서원하여 그토록 소원하던 아들 사무엘을 낳아 하나님께 드렸다. 이에 한나는 자신의 기도에 응답하신 하나님의 절대 주권과 능력을 찬양했다. 당시의 제사장 겸 사사인 엘리의 아들들이 하나님께 범죄함으로 인해 그 집안에 대한 하나님의 심판이 선고되었다.

	사무엘의 출생(1:1-1:28)

エフライムの山地ラマタイム · ツォフィムに，その名をエルカナというひとりの人がいた．この人はエロハムの子，順次さかのぼって，エリフの子，トフの子，エフライム人ツフの子であった．

エルカナには，ふたりの妻があった．ひとりの妻の名はハンナ，もうひとりの妻の名はペニンナと言った．ペニンナには子どもがあったが，ハンナには子どもがなかった．

この人は自分の町から每年シロに上って，万軍の主を禮拜し，いけにえをささげていた．そこにはエリのふたりの息子，主の祭司ホフニとピネハスがいた．

その日になると，エルカナはいけにえをささげ，妻のペニンナ，彼女のすべての息子，娘たちに，それぞれの受ける分を與えた．

また，ハンナに，ひとりの人の受ける分を與えていた．彼はハンナを愛していたが，主が彼女の胎を閉じておられたからである．

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

彼女を憎むペニンナは，主がハンナの胎を閉じておられるというので，ハンナが氣をもんでいるのに，彼女をひどくいらだたせるようにした．

每年，このようにして，彼女が主の宮に上って行くたびに，ペニンナは彼女をいらだたせた．そのためハンナは泣いて，食事をしようともしなかった．

それで夫エルカナは彼女に言った．「ハンナ．なぜ，泣くのか．どうして，食べないのか．どうして，ふさいでいるのか．あなたにとって，私は十人の息子以上の者ではないのか．」

シロでの食事が終わって，ハンナは立ち上がった．そのとき，祭司エリは，主の宮の柱のそばの席にすわっていた．

ハンナの心は痛んでいた．彼女は主に祈って，激しく泣いた．

And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

そして誓願を立てて言った．「万軍の主よ．もし，あなたが，はしための惱みを顧みて，私を心に留め，このはしためを忘れず，このはしために男の子を授けてくださいますなら，私はその子の一生を主におささげします．そして，その子の頭に，かみそりを當てません．」

ハンナが主の前で長く祈っている間，エリはその口もとを見守っていた．

ハンナは心のうちで祈っていたので，くちびるが動くだけで，その聲は聞こえなかった．それでエリは彼女が醉っているのではないかと思った．

エリは彼女に言った．「いつまで醉っているのか．醉いをさましなさい．」

ハンナは答えて言った．「いいえ，祭司さま．私は心に惱みのある女でございます．ぶどう酒も，お酒も飮んではおりません．私は主の前に，私の心を注ぎ出していたのです．

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

このはしためを，よこしまな女と思わないでください．私はつのる憂いといらだちのため，今まで祈っていたのです．」

エリは答えて言った．「安心して行きなさい．イスラエルの神が，あなたの願ったその願いをかなえてくださるように．」

彼女は，「はしためが，あなたのご好意にあずかることができますように．」と言った．それからこの女は歸って食事をした．彼女の顔は，もはや以前のようではなかった．

翌朝早く，彼らは主の前で禮拜をし，ラマにある自分たちの家へ歸って行った．エルカナは自分の妻ハンナを知った．主は彼女を心に留められた．

日が改まって，ハンナはみごもり，男の子を産んだ．そして「私がこの子を主に願ったから．」と言って，その名をサムエルと呼んだ．

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

夫のエルカナは，家族そろって，年ごとのいけにえを主にささげ，自分の誓願を果たすために上って行こうとしたが，

ハンナは夫に，「この子が乳離れし，私がこの子を連れて行き，この子が主の御顔を拜し，いつまでも，そこにとどまるようになるまでは．」と言って，上って行かなかった．

夫のエルカナは彼女に言った．「あなたの良いと思うようにしなさい．この子が乳離れするまで待ちなさい．ただ，主のおことばのとおりになるように．」こうしてこの女は，とどまって，その子が乳離れするまで乳を飮ませた．

その子が乳離れしたとき，彼女は雄牛三頭，小麥粉一エパ，ぶどう酒の皮袋一つを携え，その子を連れ上り，シロの主の宮に連れて行った．その子は幼かった．

彼らは，雄牛一頭をほふり，その子をエリのところに連れて行った．

And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.

And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

ハンナは言った．「おお，祭司さま．あなたは生きておられます．祭司さま．私はかつて，ここのあなたのそばに立って，主に祈った女でございます．

この子のために，私は祈ったのです．主は私がお願いしたとおり，私の願いをかなえてくださいました．

それで私もまた，この子を主にお渡しいたします．この子は一生涯，主に渡されたものです．」こうして彼らはそこで主を禮拜した．

And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

	한나의 기도(2:1-2:11)

ハンナは祈って言った．「私の心は主を誇り，私の角は主によって高く上がります．私の口は敵に向かって大きく開きます．私はあなたの救いを喜ぶからです．

主のように聖なる方はありません．あなたに ¿ぶ者はないからです．私たちの神のような岩はありません．

高ぶって，多くを語ってはなりません．橫柄なことばを口から出してはなりません．まことに主は，すべてを知る神．そのみわざは確かです．

勇士の弓が ¿かれ，弱い者が力を帶び，

食べ飽いた者がパンのために雇われ，飢えていた者が ¿きをやめ，不妊の女が七人の子を産み，多くの子を持つ女が，しおれてしまいます．

And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

主は殺し，また生かし，よみに下し，また上げる．

主は，貧しくし，また富ませ，低くし，また高くするのです．

主は，弱い者をちりから起こし，貧しい人を，あくたから引き上げ，高貴な者とともに，すわらせ，彼らに榮光の位を繼がせます．まことに，地の柱は主のもの，その上に主は世界を据えられました．

主は聖徒たちの足を守られます．惡者どもは，やみの中に滅びうせます．まことに人は，おのれの力によっては勝てません．

主は，はむかう者を打ち ¿き，その者に，天から雷鳴を響かせられます．主は地の果て果てまでさばき，ご自分の王に力を授け，主に油そそがれた者の角を高く上げられます．」

The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them.

He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

その後，エルカナはラマの自分の家に歸った．幼子は，祭司エリのもとで主に仕えていた．

And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the LORD before Eli the priest.

	엘리의 아들들(2:12-2:36)

さて，エリの息子たちは，よこしまな者で，主を知らず，

民にかかわる祭司の定めについてもそうであった．だれかが，いけにえをささげていると，まだ肉を煮ている間に，祭司の子が三又の肉刺しを手にしてやって來て，

これを，大なべや，かまや，大がまや，なべに突き入れ，肉刺しで取り上げたものをみな，祭司が自分のものとして取っていた．彼らはシロで，そこに來るすべてのイスラエルに，このようにしていた．

それどころか，人¿が脂肪を燒いて煙にしないうちに祭司の子はやって來て，いけにえをささげる人に，「祭司に，その燒く肉を渡しなさい．祭司は煮た肉は受け取りません．生の肉だけです．」と言うので，

人が，「まず，脂肪をすっかり燒いて煙にし，好きなだけお取りなさい．」と言うと，祭司の子は，「いや，いま渡さなければならない．でなければ，私は力ずくで取る．」と言った．

Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.

And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;

And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.

And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.

このように，子たちの罪は，主の前で非常に大きかった．主へのささげ物を，この人たちが侮ったからである．

サムエルはまだ幼く，亞麻布のエポデを身にまとい，主の前に仕えていた．

Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home.

And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

エリは非常に年をとっていた．彼は自分の息子たちがイスラエル全體に行なっていることの一部始終，それに彼らが會見の天幕の入口で仕えている女たちと寢ているということを聞いた．

人がもし，ほかの人に對して罪を犯すと，神がその仲裁をしてくださる．だが，人が主に對して罪を犯したら，だれが，その者のために仲裁に立とうか．」しかし，彼らは父の言うことを聞こうとしなかった．彼らを殺すことが主のみこころであったからである．

一方，少年サムエルはますます成長し，主にも，人にも愛された．

Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.

Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD's people to transgress.

If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

そのころ，神の人がエリのところに來て，彼に言った．「主はこう仰せられる．あなたの父の家がエジプトでパロの家の奴隷であったとき，わたしは，この身を明らかに彼らに示したではないか．

また，イスラエルの全部族から，その家を選び，わたしの祭司とし，わたしの祭壇に上り，香をたき，わたしの前でエポデを着るようにした．こうして，イスラエル人のすべての火によるささげ物を，あなたの父の家に與えた．

なぜ，あなたがたは，わたしが命じたわたしへのいけにえ，わたしへのささげ物を，わたしの住む所で輕くあしらい，またあなたは，わたしよりも自分の息子たちを重んじて，わたしの民イスラエルのすべてのささげ物のうち最上の部分で自分たちを肥やそうとするのか．

それゆえ， ·· イスラエルの神，主の御告げだ ··あなたの家と，あなたの父の家とは，永遠にわたしの前を步む，と確かに言ったが，今や， ··主の御告げだ ··絶對にそんなことはない．わたしは，わたしを尊ぶ者を尊ぶ．わたしをさげすむ者は輕んじられる．

見よ．わたしがあなたの腕と，あなたの父の家の腕とを切り落とし，あなたの家には年寄りがいなくなる日が近づいている．

And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?

Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.

イスラエルはしあわせにされるのに，あなたはわたしの住む所で敵を見るようになろう．あなたの家には，いつまでも，年寄りがいなくなる．

わたしは，ひとりの人をあなたのために，わたしの祭壇から斷ち切らない．その人はあなたの目を衰えさせ，あなたの心をやつれさせよう．あなたの家の多くの者はみな，壯年のうちに死ななければならない．

あなたのふたりの息子，ホフニとピネハスの身にふりかかることが，あなたへのしるしである．ふたりとも一日のうちに死ぬ．

わたしは，わたしの心と思いの中で事を行なう忠實な祭司を，わたしのために起こそう．わたしは彼のために長く續く家を建てよう．彼は，いつまでもわたしに油そそがれた者の前を步むであろう．

あなたの家の生き殘った者はみな，賃金とパン一個を求めて彼のところに來ておじぎをし，『どうか，祭司の務めの一つでも私にあてがって，一切れのパンを食べさせてください．』と言おう．」

And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.

And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.

And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.
