- さて， アンテオケ には， そこにある 敎會に， バルナバ ， ニゲル と 呼ばれる シメオン ， クレネ 人 ルキオ ， 國主 ヘロデ の 乳兄弟 マナエン ， サウロ などという 預言者や 敎師がいた．
- 彼らが 主を 禮拜し， 斷食をしていると， 聖靈が， 「バルナバ と サウロ をわたしのために 聖別して， わたしが 召した 任務につかせなさい． 」と 言われた．
- そこで 彼らは， 斷食と 祈りをして， ふたりの 上に 手を 置いてから， 送り 出した．
- ふたりは 聖靈に 遣わされて， セルキヤ に 下り， そこから 船で キプロス に 渡った．
- サラミス に 着くと， ユダヤ 人の 諸會堂で 神のことばを 宣べ 始めた． 彼らは ヨハネ を 助手として 連れていた．

- Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
- As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
- And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
- So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
- And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

- 島全體を 巡回して， パポス まで 行ったところ， にせ 預言者で， 名を バルイエス という ユダヤ 人の 魔術師に 出會った．
- この 男は 地方總督 セルギオ · パウロ のもとにいた． この 總督は 賢明な 人であって， バルナバ と サウロ を 招いて， 神のことばを 聞きたいと 思っていた．
- ところが， 魔術師 エルマ （エルマ という 名を 譯すと 魔術師 ）は， ふたりに 反對して， 總督を 信仰の 道から 遠ざけようとした．
- しかし， サウロ ， 別名で パウロ は， 聖靈に 滿たされ， 彼をにらみつけて，
- 言った． 「ああ， あらゆる 僞りとよこしまに 滿ちた 者， 惡魔の 子， すべての 正義の 敵． おまえは， 主のまっすぐな 道を 曲げることをやめないのか．

- And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
- Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
- But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
- Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
- And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

- 見よ． 主の 御手が 今， おまえの 上にある． おまえは 盲になって， しばらくの 間， 日の 光を 見ることができなくなる． 」と 言った． するとたちまち， かすみとやみが 彼をおおったので， 彼は 手を 引いてくれる 人を 搜し 回った．
- この 出來事を 見た 總督は， 主の 敎えに 驚嘆して 信仰にはいった．

- And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
- Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
